Time for a new chairperson?

100% agree . personally now Louis is out of the picture at Ipswich I’d put him in charge. 5 year term reinstate an independent scb & have Louis & the scb run the show. The BSPL would then operate within the rules as laid down. -

I remember him giving an interview 5 or 6 years ago saying that doubling up needed to be phased out for the integrity of the sport. Nothing has happened in that regard. I guess there comes a time where if you cannot influence change for the greater good, you pack up & head off in to the sunset. Just as we all would. -

The way his statement was worded I think he tried but couldn’t drag the others or enough of the others with him. The term things no longer align seems to indicate something along those lines. -

With the out lay that he needs to make in 2026 vs having no tv revenue & a frankly awful looking premiership there is every reason that a club that was profitable in 2025 wouldn’t be in 2026 & Louis isn’t prepared to take the risk. As you said yourself a speedway club isn’t a good investment at the moment & Louis doesn’t want to invest to invest in the sport any longer. I don’t blame him to be honest especially if you put a sensible way forward & others are not interested. A lot of ifs buts & maybes however if the content for the rental of Foxhall has expired then he could sit on the licence for a year with no financial cost to himself. Louis is a very intelligent chap & a pretty sound businessman he won’t be doing anything that poses a risk to his future or leave him with costs that need covering. -

The BSPL need to have a word with the people behind the NFL. I put the channel 5 program on this evening & it’s the dullest thing I’ve ever seen. -

I’m indifferent to be honest. When Louis put the club up for sale it was clear it was either sold or would not run in 2026. At the time I said to myself well that’s that at least we went out on a high. Since then nothing I’ve seen connected to speedway really gives me much enthusiasm for 26. In all honesty what updates are we expecting? He’d spoken to 2 possible buyers both were a non starter, the third maybe a sale between Christmas & New Year. Clearly that hasn’t happened any comment as to why would likely no increase the chance of a sale. After the years of Doyle & Emil, a team with no real number one in a league that is at the point of implosion I really can’t be bothered with it. -

I’ve only heard a rumour that was swirling around at football on Boxing Day when stood in the away end at Millwall. Not sure sure I believe it as it would be very left field -

It’s obvious that something went dramatically wrong between October & mid November. What that was I guess we will never know. However if that was enough that it makes Louis running Ipswich unprofitable then I don’t think we can blame him for wanting to get out. -

Maybe another local company is looking at it, involved in sponsorship of another local team but as yet not involved in speedway. Question is if it’s non speedway people looking at it how does that sit with the BSPL? -

No it’s comes down as a legal way to pay less tax on profit. Plenty of business people do this from small one man bands to big corporate multi nationals.
