Sheffield vs Belle Vue 30/09/21 POSF 1st leg
foreverblue replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think this should be a cracker if the track isn't too wet and I fancy Sheffield to prevail, they are in much better for now, beating Peterborough away from home is a great result and I don't think a repeat of a 54-36 thrashing at Belle Vue will be repeated especially now Troy Batchelor seems to have found some form. Just a shame they can't televise it. -

Yes and what a crash that was, I went home fearing he would never race again , horrific being stood on the very bend he went in to. You know its bad when the whole stadium goes eerily quiet. -

Losing MPT is a massive blow, they can overcome it if Bjarne rides well, there is some rain due today which probably won't help the home side as it didn't help Wolves last week, sounds like a last heat decider to me hopefully, should be good viewing. -

Cook, Jason Crump, I know he has been poor this season but surely better than Kerr or Richard Lawson as they should be allowed the 5 per cent extra for a home meeting. Maybe Lawson is still injured. I would imagine Panthers fans are hoping for rain so they can more time to get MPT fit -

In my opinion the main problem Peterborough have is Bjarne, who has been out of form of late and they need him to have a great night. He will try his best, he always has but if he is off form tonight Wolves will win. No idea why they can't get a better guest than Kerr , I would have thought a half fit MPT would be better than Kerr. -
Well yes very nearly unbeatable, forgot Zorro beat him. Didn't he get a 11 point average.
-
When you say superb, I think you mean unbeatable.
-
I suppose Belle Vue is a really lovely area!!
-
I wouldn't say it is a dump, it has much improved as a stadium but the racing is still usually quite poor in my opinion.
-
Not sure what you mean, Lidsey was at reserve for some of the season, so attained his average at the lower end of the team too. Rasmus ended with over two points above Lidsey, he was never a reserve and he didn't have a full season but in fairness to Lidsey he is quite a bit younger so you would expect more improvement to come.
-
Oh didn't know that, usually good for Poole when he rode their and always good at Swindon
-
Yes i agree with all of that, from what I saw of Rasmus if he can push on and no reason why not, he can become a top rider, had a amazing season which few thought he was capable of.
-
Swindon look exciting too, i thought Rasmus Jensen was exciting last season.
-
Kurtz generally rode well at Poole so did Fricke, he always got good scores at BV so he should continue that.
-
Well its not surprising Belle Vue fans think that, good luck to him but he's got to improve a lot in my opinion to reach that level.
-
Really surprised so many think he will be a gp rider.

Yes I know which is why I said it was good for speedway because if there is no football they may be tempted to go to speedway. -

it's a bit strange Cheltenham is still going ahead today when I believe the Kelso meeting is behind closed doors . -

Good news for speedway, all elite football off until 3rd April at least. -
I think Bewley will make it and Lambert too but not Lidsey in my opinion. I don't think you can compare the current crop of Australian riders with the greats of the past.
-
I may be a hard man to please! Ask the wife! Not saying Lidsey doesn't have talent but don't really think Polish results are relevant as most of the tracks are similar to the NSS I am assuming. In my opinion he still has a lot to prove.
-
As always the key to moving to the next level is consistency , Lidsey only has a 5 point average so I would imagine he wasn't that impressive all season, Bewley despite his issues with coming back from injury still achieved a 6 point average so that was more impressive and injury free he could definitely move to the next level.
-
Yes and it is a shame he doesn't want to do the British League next season, massive respect to Doyley for continuing in the British League year on year when a lot of the top riders don't. Lidsey and Becker have a long long way to go to get to that level.
-
Don't think either will make gp riders personally but you never know.
