  1. Seem to think Todd started like this last season, but then tailed off as others were riding more regularly and he had a lack of meetings. Hopefully he can keep the momentum going this year - if he does, we will definitely be there or thereabouts come the end of the season with this team
  2. Good meeting with some good racing tonight. Think the score line probably flatters us, aftet the first 10/11 heats I was thinking that a draw would be a good result, fortunately Scunny just ran out of a bit of steam - starting with Allen breaking down whilst comfortably in the lead. What is the rule about tacticals??? Sure after the Newcastle meeting somebody said they couldn’t be used in this competition- also didn’t think you could use them in heat 14
  3. I’m expecting both of these meetings to be a bit different to last year! Both meetings could be very close
  4. Looks like Bates is on the comeback trail http://joshbatesspeedway.co.uk/news.php?extend.26
  5. Haven’t double points gone now? And somebody said last night that you couldn’t use tac subs in this competition... don’t know how true that is, maybe they just couldn’t persuade anybody to have the extra ride
  6. A nice easy workout for the Tigers to kick off the season, I’m sure there will be sterner tests to come. Howarth, Bjerre and Wright were unstoppable, Kurtz only just missed out on his maximum too. Shanes and Smith showed glimpses of what is to come, both were within a whisker of getting a hat full of points against far more experienced opposition. The future is bright on tonight’s performance.
  7. The sun is bright, the sky is blue, I’m off to Owlerton tonight, what about you??? Can’t see anything other than a big home win, but hopefully there will be some decent racing along the way. Be good to see how Smith and Shanes get on, the former has stated that they are a stronger pairing than last year, not sure about that at the moment, but they probably have more potential for the future and will hopefully get better and better as the season goes on.
  8. Jack Smith top scored for Belle Vue with 14 today
  9. Good to see the bikes on track again Lasse particularly looked like he was having fun - can he get round turns 3/4 without his back wheel on the air fence?!?
  10. On Twitter Sheffield have said that because of a change with the dog racing schedule we can’t use it anymore
  11. Does anybody know the circumstances of the accident? Everybody seems to be presuming that he was messing about... there is of course the possibility that he was playing with his kid and it was just a freak accident. I concede it that would be a bit boring and would be a rubbish story, but just maybe people should get the facts before having a go. He may have been mucking about, but just maybe he wasn’t
  12. Although 3 Premier League footballers did nick a taxi the other week in order to get back to their hotel... Wind yer neck in
  13. Really can’t believe that people are having a go at him! He rides bikes at 80mph with no brakes for a living... of course he isn’t going to spend his spare time sitting in a library as some seem to think is appropriate! He’s got injured having a bit of fun, it happens. He could just have easily got knocked over whilst crossing a road, whilst being as sober as a judge, in broad day light. I just hope he makes a full recovery. I agree that we should look to get somebody in as a temporary replacement and I see Jan G being mentioned as a possibility. He did a brilliant job for us last year, but at reserve, not sure he would be as effective in the main body of the team.
  14. Not sure how I feel about them changing the rules to fit Scott... on the one hand, he has been a fine servant for British speedway and deserves his chance to earn some cash, on the other hand, feel that the BSPA should grow a pair - they made a rule in the interests of the sport (I know that is a debatable point) and have then rolled over and amended it at the first sign of people being upset.
  15. Details are meant to be getting announced tomorrow
  16. The thought had crossed my mind when I saw Lynch had been sacked/let go / serviced dispensed with. Would be a big loss for Sheffield if we were to lose his services
  17. Talking of team management - I presume that Steady will be in charge, but not sure that I've seen it confirmed anywhere?
  18. Personally, at the start of the season, at least whilst Wright finds his feet, I would have Bjerre riding at 5. Has the ability to win races and is more likely to look after Shanes and Smith when he has the opportunity. Also don't think that he will miss riding with Bates - there were a few times last season where I feared they would take each other out!
  19. From the Star Meanwhile, Tigers still want Kyle Howarth back but parent club Workington are refusing to budge. The clubs have been unable to agree a price for a full transfer and his place in the Sheffield side won’t be rubber stamped until permission is granted. This is, however, despite the fact Workington have built their team without Howarth included and are set to unveil their last two members. Howarth himself is on record saying he wants to be back at Sheffield and personal terms won’t present a problem in any deal.
  20. NEWS: Josh Bates boost as he shelves retirement plans. Read the full story here: http://www.sheffieldspeedway.co/news.php?extend.2479 …
  21. Workington have tweeted that their completed team will be announced this week, so you would presume that we will know where Kyle will be riding by week’s end too
  22. We might know one way or another in the morning...
  23. There is an article on the website saying he is having personal issues and that the club will stand by him whilst he works through them. Looks like it was a genuine post. Lets hope that he gets whatever it is sorted, but at the end of the day does what is best for him/his family
  24. Would like to see Lambert riding for us every week, but his reputation does seem to be that he will be missing on a regular basis
