Lakeside V Poole Friday 1st July
markyb replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Omg - have I just read on the speedway updates web site that "Poole" have beaten Lakeside ? If accurate, it sounds as though Poole were Holder,Eliis 4 guests and "rr" for Andersen. Wish I could laugh as so comical - but alas I can't. team speedway in the UK is dead - this proves it. -
Coventry V Swindon Friday 1st July

Such a shame - was looking forward to celebrating King, Harris and the mighty Doyle. 7.05 the track was perfect - by 7.30 it was underwater. Speedway a summer sport ? you get better days in November. Looking forward to Cardiff - hopefully no issues under the roof !!!! -
Coventry Storm V Birmingham - Sunday 26th June - 4pm

Omg - embarrassed or what ? to think I gave up my precious weekend hours and minutes to see a team that represents the city of Coventry - hold your heads in shame !!!!! Next time reckon if you gave ME 12 quid - that ain't enough. Too late for excuses ! -
Where the hell has this anti-bomber mess come from. In my book, as much a legend in the bees colours as Olsen. The only Brit (i.e non plastic) worth supporting come July 9th ! whoops, sorry, Danny worthy of a shout too !!!!!

Back in 1976, as a 13 year old, I could go along to a top flight "Gulf Oil" sponsored speedway meeting containing a league of 19 different teams. The method worked well. 13 heats, where a 40-38 winning score line was the most satisfying. No complicated rules and teams that contained riders of all levels. what we have in 2016 in comparison is an absolute shambles. "Elite" teams that contain 3rd division riders - they in their own right are worthy of putting on a show to speedway fans - so no dis-respect meant at this time. my point finally now is there are enough Elite and Premier and Natinal league teams today with worthy riders of all abilities to create a single league in the UK in 2017. As a home fan, we should be seeing a multitude of teams thoroughout a season - not seeing an "A" and "B" fixture in a season with the same teams within 2 or 3 weeks of each other Surely it ain't rocket science - but British speedway hierarchy seem to make it seem the opposite. Just a view from a simple speedway fan, who cares and obviously my ideas will have numerous pitfalls and no doubt these will be pointed out to me. However, could a single league allow for a regular day in the week where ALL British speedway takes place - it works in Poland, Sweden, Denmark etc. - this factor being brought u on a regular basis. Time to sign off, best regards, Lord Lucan

Rules Are Rules - But Spirit Lost Forever !

so good to see PK back in British speedway - almost catching up with my years on this planet - but eh, only almost. come on Btritish speedway hierarchy - how on earth can you allow for this to happen, my only issue is for the Swedish legend to come back to at reserve berth ? Thought the idea of Elite reserves was to bring in talent for the next era of BRITSIH riders - please, please don't accuse of racism at this point. The rules and regulations have been set by the management/promoters committee, so of course they must be right - so who am I, to question their judgement. Of course, just a fan but ultimately a nobody. Taking the "sport" (yes deserves to be in inverted comments ) as a whole, this November, please treat the annual conference as something meaningful and provide respect - in my mind,, in the past you just been pis*ing away the contribution that the public make, on a jolly , plus forgetting more importantly the riders who put their life on the line in every race, who allow your get together to happen. -
Coventry V Wolves Monday 9th May

yeah, I'm still here - if you look back you will see that my comment was not about how rubbish the meeting was, but as to how poor the quality was and likening to national league standard. -

It ain't just the money that's stops people from going, it is the TIME and effort we give up and not getting the effort back from so many Prima donna's -

I pay big money for sky sports - now find that speedway is on the f'ing fantasy channel - whole sport is corrupt and I disrepute. -

after heat 4 - national league speedway at its very best - whoops sorry 2 leagues down from that. would have taken more than a ten quid contribution TO me to attend such drivel -let alone having to pay 2 pounds less that the usual national league admission. Shambles Horton and Watson - however come 2017, will promise will buy the Big Issue from you if I see you in Peterborough town centre - just promise you don't darken Coventry any more Please ! -
was privileged enough to attend the inter-league challenge between Glasgow and Coventry. - considering the circumstances of a wet track in the middle of April, the entertainment [that is what I strive for !] was fantastic - did not really matter who won or lost, but appeared to be 100 % from all riders in attendance . Alas, elite league defies the word " elite " When you have a rider of the calebre of Danny King as heat leader, shows how bad things in the British speedway top flight has become. A speedway friend where I work was talking this morning about how Coventry could turn there speedway season around and happened to mention Kenneth Bjerre - ok not a world beater, but a step In the right direction and almost a "name" that could attract a former 100 % spectator (ME !!) back to Brandon.. So, so sad, that allegedly the final speedway in the Coventry post code area for speedway in 2016 purposes, will become the middle of August. Mick ( or are you really Colin in disguise ! ) and your "boy" Neil, about time you woke up and attempted fo make notice and took responsibility - rather than the detracting you doing at the moment and blaming anybody but yourselves.

so Davey not now having employment - does this mean his visa is revoked and sent back to his native land - or do us tax paying British citizens have to fund his existance ?

Pity I ain't a royalist as I would take my hat of to Danny tonight. in honour of the birthday of HRH Elizabeth tomorrow, the King appears to have riden like an old Queen tonight (yet again) -
The company who provide the Kevlars to the Coventry side (not worthy of the term "team") gonna be rushed of their feet come early May hopefully. Too many of the current set-up not worthy of wearing the name of Coventry on their breast plate. Should hold their heads in shame. how dare you be so dis-respectful of pigs ! no no no - things are bad, but not that bad !!!!

fantastic PR from the belle vie "promotion" to allow free admission this Sunday for the long awaited trial speedway meeting, alas between colts and storm. Whoops, so sorry, where the hell did I get that from. It may not even turn out to be a meeting depending on repairs being "according to schedule" so I ain't the only one being in a fantasy land. only in Britain - a place that was once Great ! another whoops !!!! No mention on the Belle vue web sh1te about the meeting - however in full glory on CoventryBees.co currently - that until they suddenly realise another faux pas and is withdrawn.

Coventry V Poole El Friday 22nd April 2016
markyb replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yet another almost national league line-up at "elite" (sic) prices. Have checked tv and radio times and a full line-up of stars on Friday for Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Eastenders -week in and week out. On paper, a Coventry vs Poole fixture, and in a competition which provides some meaning, should be a great spectacle and give a healthy crowd. Alas, unfortunately once again, fear it won't. My reference to Emm, Coro & East was tongue in cheek - but until "taking of the urine" stops, think I would rather spend time and effort not watching speedway at my expense, time and the main reason, at the profit of a dumb promoter. Is it any wonder why SKY are struggling to find any meetings worthwhile to present on TV? Shame ! -
Unfortunately King is defying the terminology relating to his name. Even in a poor Elite league he being outclassed massively. Time to go me thinks. On the upside, Mr Garrity is starting to get going and KK proving what an asset he can be.
