Who Was The Best Rider In The World In 2013?
stevebrum replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It is interesting that others put other logic to make a reasoned response. However you address it Tai comes out highly if not top in virtually all equations. Which of course is a very simplistic response to the thread title. -

Careful, you will have the Pooleites insisting that Darcy is still the best rider -

Well said. 2 collarbone breaks his hardly luck. At least Tai proved his worth for the title by continuing to ride against the odds. If Ward had of ridden thru his injury then he might have just won the title, but he didnt did he! Ward, Tai and Emil all had potentially Championship wrecking years last year. So no luck involved at all. -

If you read it that way then its not for me to point out the obvious lol -

True, you rarely get riders winning World Titles in their latter years of their career. PMFSL -

The thread proves one thing. A few still believe that Darcy had a better year than a guy who won the World title and continue to make excuses for reasons why. Seems some still like to stay blind and Blue. -

Tai was the rider of 2013, no question. Neils was a close 2nd due to his consistency in all the leagues. Followed by Emil and Darcy. Darcy had a dreadful start to the year but was excellent after he came back from injury. Emil in reverse - started like a steam train but then was starting to go off the boil prior to his injury. No idea why we have to have a thread to state the obvious. Still it gives Poole fans a chance to argue against the obvious. -
Bbc Sports Personality Of The Year

So tonights the night for Speedway fans to show the BBC and SPOTY that we dont support them either. Not watching or interested. We already have our own winner thanks ! -
So Ford HAS jumped the gun. At first i thought it was all innocent and `out there` if a post had been put up on twitter. However if SKY haven't announced it then it hasn't happened yet, simple as. For the BSPA to rush out a press release is obviously as a direct response to the social media leak. 2 positives however appear to have come from this - 1) SKY seem keen to stay on board and will hopefully continue their excellent coverage of our wonderful sport. 2) The BSPA seem to be more `media friendly` with yesterdays `live` bulletins and todays prompt press release. Long may both continue.

Team Gb - Middlo Quits!
stevebrum replied to Barry The Cat's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
To an extent you are correct and that is purely down to the fact we don't have the riders to compete. However someone that the rest of us (Poole fans exempt obviously)can respect to not slate fans on twitter and speak up for riders who flaunt the law. That isn't having a go, its just calling it as a lot see it!. Well said. Betting the small nations such as US and Latvia should be the bare minimum to beat. -
Riders Who Come On Later In Their Careers.
stevebrum replied to NickRushbrook's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Smolinski at 29 is hardly late in his career, tho i take your point. Adam Skornicki, whilst perhaps is best described as a decent 3rd heat leader certainly won his National Championship later on in his career in 2008 at 32. -

OK, so when this incident is treated any different to the Oz example my main point still rests. -

So is drinking/driving under the influence and fleeing from the police. Maybe it depends what country you live in. Like it ever actually goes to meetings! It would miss to much stirring on a daily basis, and no surprise it started the thread - WHY in an EL section i will never know. -
I think its a pretty open thing that most of the promoters don't want to listen to fans/social media etc as they seem to believe that they can and are doing a better job than the suggestions offered. Plus of course we have a sport run by people who put their money where their mouth is so feel it is THEIR right to ignore BSF etc. However you look at it the gradual gap of sharing of information about how the sport is run, how the rules are applied or adapted gets wider with every passing season. It doesn't really seem all that long ago that the highlights of the AGM were reading through the changes/rules/decisions made that were well detailed and pretty understandable. Now, hardly anything of the rules except the basics are mentioned or detailed.

Cradley legend JAN O PEDERSEN will be presenting the trophies on Saturday at Sandwell Cycle Speedway. (27th July) The meeting is the 5th Round of the ORCHID CHARITY sponsored EUROVETS. The leader board shows Coventry`s JOE McLAUGHLIN is the current leader with Birmingham`s PAUL TIMMS 4 points behind in 2nd. Points from each round accumulate, much like a GP. The meeting starts at 1PM with refreshments and programmes available. Parking at the track. So any Cradley fans who want to come along and see Jan O are more than welcome. HOW TO FIND US - The Entrance is via metal gates about half way down the hill on the right (coming down Lower City Road). Once thru the gates follow the road right round to the far side of the playing field. Tividale Community Recreation Centre Venue address Lower City Road, TIVIDALE, West Midlands. Had a couple of decent battles and scored 4 points, so not out of his depth. A step to far too soon maybe.
