Makes no difference to me if you think any of it is good or ridiculous. Have family in Burnham so love visiting to watch good speedway on a great track when i come to visit. Think what Somerset have achieved in a short time deserves huge applause and praise. That said think the actions of your promotion (dropping morris (miss to many commitments), bring in Ty for Doyle and then drop him because of his poor pre season form and bring in Morris instead!) is shady at best. If you have a good season then you will have made all the right decision no doubt. I couldn't care less right now if you have a good season or not after further adding to the troubles of my own clubs rider. Proctor was fine by the way tonight, definitely your loss.

What you mean stop comment on things we know nothing about?? Ty Proctor was publicly dropped because " I felt it only right to restore him to the line-up, albeit being at Ty’s expense, plus I think that having Nick at No.1 will give us a more of a cutting edge at the top end of the team.” Whilst Ty himself said he was told that it was because he was coming back from injury and wasn't expected to score many points. So i am commenting on things in the public domain. I usually have a lot of time for Somerset, the track and facilities are superb. Love my visits there. Doesn't stop me thinking the decision made stinks.

No real problem to me. If Somerset have a difficult season then i`m sure there will be a sense of karma. It is no issue to me anyway, we have a promotion who stick by the riders, instead of sticking a knife in their back.
-
Hope Morris leaves you in the lurch.

You clearly know nothing how the Wolves promotion work. Ty will come good, with the right respect and attitude by the fans and the management.

Couldn't agree more. I hope the Rebels have a dreadful season.

Agreed. SS on a Thursday is essential reading!

Must be an odd state of affair, making sensible comments. You must try it sometime.

Sorry should have elaborated the reply because obviously the post was pro SKY. Think what we both agree on is that the issue lies firmly at the feet of the governing body why we have the issues of falling attendances over a prolonged period of time.
-
No we cant. Speedway attendance was falling before SKY - have we agreed who was to blame for that?
-
Well, i make a lot of sense you know! ;-)
-
Perhaps. He has proved he has the ability in the past. However he does have a tendency to throw in the towel when things arent working well. So he has a lot to prove still. I wish the lad luck and hope the PL works for him this time around.

The benefit to Speedway really is quite simple. It keeps and makes our great sport visible and relevant to other sports fans. It is that simple. The rest of the job IS NOT for SKY to bring in people through the turnstiles. That is the job of our promoters. As others have said, SKY show sports with sparse support in the crowd. SKY SHOW the sports, the promotions of various sports PROMOTE their sports. I cannot believe people blame SKY for fall in attendance and all that is wrong in our sport. That falls at the feet of our promotions who don't do enough (or don't know how to to do more) for the continued fall in attendance. It was happening before SKY, which some seem to choose to ignore. Likewise i have neighbours, friends, associates who can make an informed opinion on Speedway BECAUSE of SKY showing our sport. That cannot be measured in the amount of people through the turnstiles. I know (and have introduced) many `newcomer` to Speedway since SKY came on board because they wanted to see it live. If the supporters are doing there bit to promote Speedway its now up to the promotions to follow suit, because the visibility that SKY give our sport cannot be measured either.
-
My point is how do we know gates have gone down BECAUSE of SKY? Attendances were falling before SKY came on board so it is obvious that its part of a pattern that was forming before their involvement. It doesn't even bear to think what a state our sport would be in if SKY weren't involved. SKY have made Speedway visible. Plenty of sports fans have an idea what Speedway is these days. SO, who`s job is to ensure we get people coming through the turnstiles because of this visibility?? NOT SKY - that is down to our governing body, no one else. Thank god for SKY at least for keeping our sport visible and recognising what a great product it is.
-
Somebody really has messed up to allow it to happen twice.
-
What about the meetings advertised as £10 that SKY covered that were very well attended? Would promotions have dared to try without SKY?
