Ipswich v Poole; Supporters Cup; Thurs 16/05/19

If Nicholls was poor Steve, what other words can you describe for the performances of Pirates riders? Scott did better than all of them! Thorssell isn’t ready to come back to British speedway yet so no he won’t be. -
On current form Jake is probably your top rider. But he remains on his 4.67 average which would be a nightmare trying to find a suitable guest.

Nicholls was not a terrible guest in the slightest. Great result from the Witches in a tin pot competition. Looking a force at home. Next week should give them a much stronger challenge. -
Yes I agree with you, and I’m assuming that was the reason on using Ben and Lasse knowing their averages would go up. they are only useful tho if you need to run RR or replace them with another rider on a similar average like you say.
-
That won’t be happening anytime soon. Since his poor for this season is under the 6 mark his rolling average has gone up to 7.98! Thats why the rolling averages no longer affect reality. Lasse and Ben are another 2. Both rolling averages have gone up despite being down for this year.

Read wide, I’ve criticised the sport and it’s organisation often. And having watched the sport live since I was a child I can confirm that even back in the golden years of the sport there were dull from the gate racing then too. It’s only those that live in the past that believe every race and match had stunning racing but of course that’s simply not true. if you want to know how often I attend take a look at the updates site over the years that will confirm your question. speedway in its purest form is as every bit as exciting now as it was back in ‘the day’. i also volunteer my services as a Marshall to my local track. I hope that answers your question. -

Sorry have to disagree, when prepared right there is plenty of opportunities to pass at Monmore with several lines to explore, it might not have been that way in the past few seasons but often that way when Doc was preparing the track. Monmore favours the technical rider who often will be able to pass on those favoured lines. -

All a very odd situation. And outside passes off 2nd and 4th bend. Passes usually are inside or outside. -

Looking at official averages Harris ave has gone up and all the top 5 have averages over 6, whilst both reserves still under 5. Looks like both will stay at reserve for quite a while yet. The rolling averages do teams good or bad depends how you look at it. Riders like Harris and Lasse have been pretty poor yet both have Averages that have gone up! -

Wolverhampton is known for having passing lines so not strictly true, although last night has been described by some as having not much passing. -

Depends which averages you use. 2019 averages tell the real story. The actual GSA’s don’t tho. -

And Becker could have got double figures again. Certain riders let Lynn down tonight. -

We have no form guide from Morris due to not riding this year yet but you have to believe he is a much more attractive average on 6.60 than Scott. Morris has been a great servant of British speedway and hasn’t gone chasing the big bucks abroad so I think it’s a little unfair to say he doesn’t give 100%, that said something clearly wasn’t right in 2018 and looked very tentative on a very dodgy Swindon track so whether there is more to it than just the injury leaves me a little suspicious. Jacob not wanting to come back (for now, or this year?) means that we need to act sooner rather than later imho. -

Yes he can, Nicholls is slightly below Morris on official averages at the moment. However the way he is going so far that figure could rise above Morris 6.60 averages and the chance to use that option has gone. -
Good point, although I have to applaud those in authority for making it compulsory because it should make all nations involved look to the future and bring on young talent. Poland is a hard one to compare too because they lead the way in everything. It’s only the ‘pairs’ competition that they don’t have the most outstanding team and juniors. But it’s a fair point recommending any 3 riders however it’s still the same issue between those that have 3 outstanding riders and those who have only, at best 1 (Slovenia/Czech/Latvia etc)

Wolves host Kings Lynn on Monday in Premiership action. Will be great to see Nations heroes Robert Lambert and Luke Becker to Monmore. interesting note that “Scott Nicholls retains his place ...... with Jacob Thorssell not ready to return to UK racing.....” Either Jacob has been released with Nicholls taking his place, or he could be deemed ‘withholding his services’ if the facility is still granted as temporary replacement. Personally it would be nice for clarity over this ruling of ‘temporary replacement’. Anyhow, that’s the politics. Wolves 1. Masters, 2. Howarth, 3. Nicholls, 4. RR Morris, 5. Schlein, 6. Ash Morris, 7. Becker. Lynn. 1. Lambert, 2. Kerr, 3. Proctor, 4. Riss, 5. Jorgensen, 6. MP Toft, 7. Andersen. Lambert is superb value at Monmore whilst Proctor knows Monmore as well as anyone. Riss too has had some brilliant rides at the Green. It should be a home win but Wolves have not won any matches comfortably at home yet so I’ll plump for 49-41. thoughts?

I see your point, however the same can be said of the WTC too. It’s usually a formality in event 1 and 2 with the weakest teams in each event a pure filler. It’s always the obvious 3 better nations that qualify for the later stages. Although of course winning those events have much more importance for intensity.
-
Fair play to Craig, track experience paid off on this occasion. Certainly done his bit tonight, with only 1 defeat to Iversen.
-
GB can take that luck. Holder is a spent force on the big stage. Give Cook rides against the weaker nations. Otherwise it’s pointless against stronger nations.

Thought I’d missed an announcement somewhere! No worries.

Another example of change it/keep it/alter it/hide from the viewing public/make it up rules that gives another reason why our sport lacks any credibility. Its another of those rules ‘it depends who is asking’!
