Congratulations To Jurica Pavlic
george.m replied to Ghostwalker's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
So no one's ever congratulated you on making the earth move after a knee trembler Big Boy! -
Officially he is of course an ex-Glasgow rider, as he hasn't signed for us for 2014. Yet. If he's on the market (hopefully he's putting himself in the shop window at Coventry) an our the delay in announcing the final two is an indication we are not interested.

Credit where it's due, he did a great deal to promote Glasgow Tigers, especially in the Shawfield era. His radio broadcasts must've put bums on seats. So we have to be grateful for that. But, why oh why, does he do/say some of the things he does? Surely beneath a man of his intellect and ability.

Cheers for the link. Have requested membership.

On a positive note.... Isn't t'internet wonderful. Getting to see all these riders and meetings from days gone by. I only know of these sites - Pathe News, YouTube, Vimeo. Can anyone advise of any others? If we don't have a thread with links to meetings already on the forum, would anyone want one? If there's demand I'll start it.

I'm no expert but it seems to me Mauger had the beating of what's his face if he had just been more patient and not gone for a gap that wasn't there. Don't like to tell riders how to ride bikes.

Not Norris123? Spoilt for choice handsome!

You can have ours before we sign him. -
Me three.

The suspense is killing me. Does anyone have any clues who our 6th and 7th signings are going to be? Too much time on my hands this time of year.
-
Wishful thinking. What do you think it is? Christmas? Merry Crimbo to you both
-
You raise a few interesting points there EI Addio, and difficult to argue against. I always thought it was strange that the race continued with Mauger lying on the track. However I'd always put it down to my lack of knowledge of the finer details of the rules back then. I've always though that the start was farcical. From the point of view that it is such an unsatisfactory way to start a race, especially one of this importance, and it seemed acceptable back then compared with what we have today. Again though, Through my lack of rule understanding I've never thought it was anything but legitimate. Got me thinking there.

Has it been telling porkies again? Last I remember it lived in the garage. -
Human nature being what it is we all tend to remember the key moments, good and bad, in the past and relate to them. The past isn't one finite moment in time. Life moves in the circles, there are few new ideas. Most have already been thought of or tried in one way or another before. Some are appropriate for short spells some for longer. Discussions about improvement are human nature. I can remember discussions about improving speedway since I first started to go in the '60s. The sport wasn't perfect then and it never will be. The only thing that is consistent is ... Change. What is important is that we learn from our mistakes, have an open mind and consider all options for improvement in this continually moving feast ... Better known as "life".

Think I've had too much Christmas cheer as I'm missing the relevance to my post. Hic.
-
Maybe by the same logic you suggest to speedway frugality, the wife shouldn't have her own car and the family should be happy being transported in a Transit.
-
We are and you and yours. Christmas came early this year .... Tigers are running in 2014.

Merry Crimbo mate!
-
Merry Xmas Mark from all your friends at the BSF.

McKinna Racing Fans?
-
True, but how can you accurately forecast how a team will do unless you know what the opposition is?
-
With over a third of the teams incomplete how can any predictions/judegements be made?
-
Why make the announcement so long before the start of the season and TV coverage? Surely to raise interest amongst non-speedway aficionados it makes more sense to do it nearer the time for maximum impact on viewing figures?
