  1. Nothing wrong with 15 heats just the format of those 15 heats. New riders are coming through all the time but just not a the pace required to get Britain back on top of the World stage. Only money can fix that but there just isn't enough to throw around. We already have a 250 & 500 junior series, a development league structure and of course the National League.
  2. Nothing's wrong with what you suggest for the kids but that's not what you're original post was about. You said fans feel ripped off with just 15 heats and a return to 2nd halfs would improve that. The fact is you were incorrect as over history has proven with the old 2nd halfs & the current Development Leagues, 2/3's of the crowds ain't interested. To feel you've had VFM this has to come from the main event. 2nd halfs & DL meetings do not add anything.
  3. That is how the original SWC format worked. Winners of the 2 semi's into the final then top 2 from the race-off. The reason it changed was the fact that if the host nation didn't make the final the were no crowds. Think this happened in Sweden & Poland if my memory is serving me correctly that the stadiums were half empty for the SWC final.
  4. Actually I think you're wrong. Most fans do want to be gone when the main meeting is done. This is proven by the Development League meetings that already exist where 2/3's of the crowd has disappeared. Most fans disappear straight after the riders cross the line in heat 15, not even waiting for the event winners parade. This whole 2nd half thing is just the nostalgic fuddie duddies wanting it. Seriously, there's no interest
  5. I still think we can win all our remaining fixtures at home. What I certainly don't have any confidence in now is doing anything away from home. Even at Leicester
  6. Personally, the host nation should be At the race-off. Almost everyone agrees with that? Maybe, as with at Belle Vue this year ticket prices should be for both race-off and final regardless. That way the venue doesn't lose out financially
  7. So, let's get down to this subject of time & entertainment Lets say (which is actually in the rules) matches stuck to the 5 minute rule per heat from the 2mins to the next 2mins. That is a 75 minute meeting, add in the 15 minute interval 90 minute meeting total What entertains you so much between heats that things should be 'dragged' out for a further 30-45 minutes? Surely it should be about keeping the fans engaged on the main product? Speedway is suffering from poor presentation Poor stadium quality Badly prepared racetracks Crap music Crap presenters Imbalanced race format With the above it's no surprise race fans just want to get in & out these days. Even hardcore fans (me) are struggling to find Speedway today 'Value For Money'. I too are one of those fans that now just heats 1-15 done asap as the whole atmosphere of the sport is pretty dreary.
  8. To lead by 8 in the first 4 heats, then lose by 14 is shocking. Should have picked up a point the absolute minimum.
  9. What I'd do is strip the sport back to basics: Exclude all GP / SEC riders with the exception of Brits Exclude all riders wishing to qualify for the GP / SEC Fixed minimum averages for foreigners of 4.5 Tactical Substitutes only (no double bubble) Friday / Saturday / Sunday race days Admissions prices set to £12 Fixed rates of pay according to position in the team (Example) No1-3-5's £200 per point No2-4's £100 pp No6-7's £50 pp Scrap the asset system
  10. That begs the question then, why have we replaced Mads for him? (although I though it was the right move at the time) 2016 figures (Home Away, Combined) show: Mads - 5.88 H - 6.95 A = 6.04 C Rory - 4.27 H - 2.22 A = 3.50 C
  11. Love em'. Apart from Dave Lanning during the Screen Sports days none come close to Nigel & Kelv. NONE.
  12. The original PR man (Marc Gent) use to get a s#!+ load of sick for lack of everything. So much so he left. It transpired that he wasn't the problem and wanted do various things. It is Buster that doesn't believe in these things and believes people turning up for the racing alone is what sells. It's Buster that is out of touch & after originally being positive about him becoming BSPA chairman I have concerns. I won't criticise him in that position just yet as he's asked to be judged for 2017. But for what's happened / happening at King's Lynn right now, especially not taking any responsibility for the shambles against Swindon I believe he's turning into a bit of a joke. Firmly stuck in the past.
  13. We're automatically in the Semi-Finals. We should make the Race-Off but getting to the Final will be a tough job.
  14. Expenses are covered by the BSPA and as far as I'm aware, the BSPA do receive payments for SWC representation & fee's for UK GP's. This is also why the British Final highest positioned none GP rider gets the Wildcard too
  15. Peter Karlsson had Woffy doing it at the Cardiff GP. Cameras were watching them for a few seconds
  16. OMG, Tai riding in the EL does nothing in passing off his knowledge. Who do you think would benefit in the current Wolves team say if he rode for them? How would Tai riding for Wolves benefit the Worrall brothers, Kerr, Lambert, Bates, Ellis etc etc? Tai has put a plan together to deliver and share his knowledge but needs backing from the BSPA. THEY'VE NOT SHOWN ANY INTEREST. Where do you think the problems lie in youth progression?
