Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
Daniel Smith replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Opinions are divided on this forum, no problem with that. It's not clear he's an unpopular British World Champion though. We'll wait for the reaction at Cardiff and the SWC, that'll be far more telling on his popularity. Robert72 is clearly only stating his own opinion and speaking for everybody else -

Next Season...promotion And Relegation....
Daniel Smith replied to Gresham's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Just on that point, Matt Ford has stated that he wants his track to run more league meeting. He believes more is needed not less & is fully aware that he may not see the GP guys no longer. For once, the promoters are trying to look at what's best for British Speedway as a whole and the majority seem to be agreeing more fixtures, 6 man teams & possibly lose the higher earners is the way forward. The promoters have stated this will be trialled in front of fans to before being rubber stamped The only issue I see going forward is the fact this could stifle British riders futures. If Premier League standard is the aim, what does that do for the younger riders i.e. Robert Lambert's etc who by 2018 should be past that standard. Are these guys going to have to give up British Speedway ala Tai Woffinden to better themselves. -

About opinion and in mine Ellis is a better rider all round Yes Bates is British Champ but that was around his home track. He most certainly isn't better than Lambert but got lucky in the final

Nicholls is ripping it up so much in the Swedish league he's 41st in the averages scoring 40 points from 30 rides. 5.33 average in British Speedway. Not that great really is it?? I don't get why people keep selecting Lambert as reserve either, it makes no sense at all as the reserve can only replace ill or injured riders.

Do Coventry press releases never put the rider's in team order? Protection against people printing their own racecards? -

None of the current Swindon side is worth dropping for Davey Watt, jeez man!!!! Watt is on worse form than any of the Swindon side + Watt wants a PL side next season so it's not likely he'll be looking to improve his form. Any side that takes him on have no ambition imo

Lambert now is also on BAR and he was mint. There's no excuses for Harris's performance, he's experienced enough

Never said anything about carting bikes all over Europe

You can but you also have to think about the viability for the manufacturer of the engines & the riders. I don't think you could go down the route of just 1, they all have to be available. Jawa GM Gerhard Then there would be the cost of scrutineering this. That's not a 5 minute job You'll also have the issue where a 'factory rider' is on the GM tuned by PJR everywhere else in the World but knows the 'Sealed factory GM' is outdone by the 'Sealed Jawa' just for the UK. This he can't change to because he'll lose the GM contract so quits British racing. Basically, all I'm saying is, for sealed engine racing to work it has to be across the board. It cannot happen in just 1 country.

SCB, just viewed the figures for 2016. Any chance you could separate track figures from the old Belle Vue to the new National Stadium? Thanks -
That's not really anything to go by either. Been to Belle Vue 3 times already this season and hasn't scored above 6 and abysmal in the British Final against rider's that should be nowhere near him. Chris Harris, TeamGB, YOU'RE FIRED......

Costs would be a huge problem here as every bike and engine would need to be identical. Rather than 2 of the rider's taking the cost of PJR tuned engines all 14 race day club machines would have to take the hit. Then the day to day running repairs as riders become a little more careless with them. Certainly though, I love it to happen. It is the way forward to become more professional looking but right now I don't think it's workable.
