Peterborough Panthers 2023
Daniel Smith replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That last paragraph is a little different to "I'm a winner" isn't it “In the meantime we’re committed to putting on a great season, and hopefully the full team will be well received when it is confirmed.” Suggests that the fans may not be so pleased compared to previous rumours -
What's sensible for 'World Class' though? I don't think £5-£6k is unreasonable per meeting for a world class rider. If you want them, you pay for them. The issue is, 100%, the uptick in fans wouldn't even cover the rider's costs. These guys get paid the same home & away so you'd need roughly £10,000 worth of extra fans every home match. Almost impossible when Ipswich already have Doyle at No1. Only TruPlant can afford to cover these costs, Ipswich itself certainly can't.

Just stick to watching the racing. You would fall off you chair once you realise the £'s floating around this sport. Yes, clubs struggle but it doesn't mean the numbers exchanging hands are miniscule. Speedway is f'ckin expensive & clubs need 6 figure incomings

Nope, each club per season. King's Lynn were getting £70,000pa from Roger Warnes Transport years ago & was said to be the lowest in the top league
-
I bet it doesn't

Great track that deserved top league status but unfortunately took the jump to early. Don't think it was just being in the top league that was the downfall, something wasn't quite right with the Hancocks, they always talked a good game but always gave the impression they'd sell the land eventually for huge profits
-
Don't forget team sponsorship can net anywhere between £70,000 - £100,000 a season. It's quite possible Guy Nicholls would go beyond that.
-
I think a lot of fans don't understand the costs of a top class rider. Jason Doyle won't be far behind those numbers & Ipswich chasing Emil who also will be on or close to those numbers. £650 per point based on a just over 9 average isn't such an unreasonable demand for such high quality is it??

You have one of your own in Shovlar who jettisoned Swindon -

I find it strange that some fans happily support other clubs just because it's where they live. Moved from King's Lynn to Wolverhampton, absolutely no way I'd watch regular meetings here just for a Speedway fix. I just don't get it -

It's the same for every team though, 1 or 2 injuries & every club is screwed -
Has Putin recalled him??

Oh yes, of course, no club needs £52,000 to help with cost, I'm sorry for the inconvenient posting -

there's not 1 promoter wanting to be a loser He hasn't played this game before, life can come at you fast, especially in Speedway -

So many factors for a new owner. Would have to pay Buster some £'s Would have to pay Showground owners some £'s All before turning a wheel. Then having to cover signing on fees for the likes of Iversen, Holder & supposedly Tungate also asking a decent fee, waiting for season ticket sales isn't that 'out there' to consider when building a team. -

A financially sensible way, certainly not odd. Season ticket salea could be the difference between, for example, signing Andersen or Tungate & Holder or Barker. Personally, that's sensible management -

Which would suggest sales haven't been as expected. May be the team they announce is on the basis of season ticket sales as this is what sets the figures to pay signing on fees. They may have 3 teams in the background all associated with season ticket sales?? -

With all these team announcement delays you just know Hans Andersen, Scott Nicholls, Ben Barker etc are the likely incomings & not Holder, Pedersen, Tungate, Iversen etc -
Gary Glitter could be out by February, he'll go down well with the kids

Some would say it doesn't mean all that much but Chris Holder's Aussie Champs form is pretty dreadful considering the line-up.
