I didn't think anyone who watches speedway would forget the second leg of the play off final 2010 at Poole where bomber got up off the deck to go out & win the rerun & helped the bees win the title, then the subsequent turmoil it caused during the winter of discontent, a huge turning point for British Speedway IMO & I don't mean for the better.

There's a very good trackman at the NSS, who was taught by a very very good trackman.🙂

For those that don't have a tv package that gives access to any speedway the Discovery + deal is quite good IMO. Currently it's a rolling one month contract at £6.95 so it can be cancelled at any time . If purchased for the duration of the speedway season it would cost approx £50, as cheap as attending a couple of meetings . The app is readily available , most Samsung tv's up to 8yrs of age have it installed I believe plus several other devices ,alternatively a streaming stick can be used.For that price all the GP's, SON etc are covered as are all the british speedway meetings provided on Eurosport. Also there is much more than the speedway to watch on the app for those that don't have paid for tv packages. I do have a tv package myself but have decided to subscribe to Discovery as I hate the unreliability of the Eurosport Channel when it comes to showing the speedway, although I can see where Discovery are going by only showing the SON on the app, presently it's a cheap watch.It will be interesting to see what happens to the costs when Eurosport disappears in the none too distant future

No Problem We just need to decide between the Euro's & Speedway semi finals now for our live viewing.

It's definitely listed on the Discovery + schedules. 9th Semi final 1 10th Semi final 2 12th U21's 13th SON final All starting at 19.50hrs Not sure about Eurosport though.

I seem to recall that semi final was at Monmore Green.. Coventry requested a postponement , & stated what they considered justifiable reasons why they felt that should happen. The reply was quite simply" you turn up or else".

I think we've all done something like that. In the very early 1960's 4 of us drove a similar distance in a very ancient Austin Sheerline which did about 20mpg to Poole for meeting , only to be greeted at the carpark entrance by an attendant who explained the meeting had been called off. As for madness/passion/dedication? I would say all three.

I think he's on record in stating that he has two years left at Perry Barr, the owners have said the dogs will be going to the new track in Wolverhampton by the end of the year & then they will be planning their next moves to develope the site for other use. Tolley has also said that he needs to see a marked increase in attendances this year, if not next season won't happen.

Well yes quite possibly, but in my case , to watch the meeting last night I had two options 1 travel by car at a high cost for the evening, 2 pay £15 and watch from my armchair . For me it represents good value It's not something I would do regularly but as a one off I have no complaints.

There can be many reasons why folk consider it value for money. Some may not be able to travel for various reasons , work , health , cost etc. for those £15 is an excellent deal i would suggest

I did consider leaving her at home but i didn't dare suggest it I really like the Belle Vue track & stadium & the trip up there through the peaks is a lovely drive in daylight hours, but i find the return at night very demanding on what are mostly twisty unlit roads.The alternative is a longer journey via the m6 & A50/A500 across to the east mids, a journey with the inevitable delays for road works /closures causing a much longer journey time. Last night I watched the speedway, then watched the first episode of Coma on Channel 5 which had been recording & was " tucked up" in bed by 11.00 pm

Exactly , I purchased my first BSN stream last night £15 for the two of us. Compare this to the cost of a 180 to 200mile round trip , entrance tickets, car parking, fuel , & probably a light meal somewhere , that would see the evening cost well overv £100 for myself & the wife.
