I think we all understant that is a possibility, & as the latest update states the group have"considered their strategy under every likely circumstance". However you view the situation there can be no doubt that the group have performed a minor miracle getting us this far, with huge support from the council, MP's , the residents of the local area, &supporters from UK and futher afield and deserve massive credit for what has been achieved to date.

They did & i think the 6 week period expired last Friday.

That was a huge surprise yesterday, hopefully, instead of building lots of little brick walls on the site, Brandon Estates have just run into a massive one themselves.

In the video Jeff Davies does state that the owners could go to the High Court if there was anything legally wrong with the government inspector's report, but the SCS group had read it & that they couldn't see any issues. One member of the SCS group works in planning & obviously knows his way round the system, so we can only keep everything crossed & see what happens next.

I was always a Rugby bend viewer, but i would be more than happy to make that a" back straighter" if the opportunity should arise.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvapQLnPRiY Here is a reason why your suggestion should not be considered Just watch the emotion from Jeff Davies in his interview & then consider the support from thousands of people from all around the UK & Europe for retaining the stadium. Also consider the huge support from the local residents of the area around the stadium who voted heavily for it to remain when a survey was carried out. Indeed when the fund raising appeal to help with the cos tof the SCS group obtain a legal representative for the inquiry was opened there was a large contributution made by the residents of the properties immediately next to the stadium. That is an indication of the level of support this fight has. Developers always use the same tactics when they aquire land without planning & usually the councils roll over , in this case they haven't & I say well done to them for fighting this out.

Looking at the content on your profile over the last few months, I must say you come acros as a really miserable guy.. Is there anything that makes you happy in life?
-
Thanks for the cheerful contribution.

Brandon Estates Appeal has been dismissed !! More news to follow apparently

I've just been looking at some pics of a a very happy & smiling Chris Adams. He must take after his mom.
-
Fair enough, I must say however that I don't find Sam inspirational in any way , but I do hope the Brummies make a success of next season . The current owner deserves that for his continued financial commitment to the club.
-
Absolutely, he was a good rider but that was the limit of his skills . His time at Reading certainly wasn't what you would describe as thrilling.

I would love to think this was positive news, but I can't help thinking that this very same Clarke Osborne was speaking in support of the housing developers at the inquiry re the planning application for Brandon Stadium recently & was doing his best to convince the inspector that speedway had no future should not return to the stadium & housing was the best plan .Hardly the action of someone is planning to build a new stadium on the outskirts of Swindon I would say.

It's not just BT either they're all at it . I have had a Virgin package for a few years now which gives me fast broadband, landline, tv with BT sports , Sky sports, & Eurosport.I have always managed to negotiate an exellent price for my package each time I have renewed . This time round , just after i had renewed I had a message stating that they were increasing my deal by£21.50 per month & in new contracts from May 24 they would be increasing payments by RPI + 3.9% if i remember , also there would be no longer be any option to leave penalty free if i didn't like the deal. A phone call & a few pertinents comments got my £21.50 monthly increase removed for the remainder of this contract fortunately. There is pressure being exerted in higher places to get these mid contract price rises stopped I do know, but if it doesn't change I won't be using Virgin next time round..

I would agree with that, he comes across as a guy with very limited capabilities & he should be nowhere near the job he has. The stuff he puts out for for public consumption makes the SCB appear very amateurish .
-
Judging by the look on his face in the photo above i think he had just been informed it had been postponed indefinitely.
-
Posibly , but I doubt it will stop the "dirty tricks brigade" from getting to work.

Oxo ?

I think the big turning point in Bomber's career came shortly after he joined the Bees. He was riding at reserve & mainly struggling, but every now & again he did something that made people realise that he had the ability to succeed. The management at Cov moved him up to the midlands , got Chris Anderson to manage his affairs & Brian Andersen to sort out his engines. The rest, as they say, is just history, he became the tremendous entertainer that he is.

With Stewart Dickson moving on that leaves a nice little slot for "Grizzly Adams"as TM.. So that's a starting point.

I was always under the impression that Brian was " a signed & sealed " job with Coventry the minute he lifted the title at Brandon.

i haven't seen the video , I'll find it & have a look. Now that I have been reminiscing i am thinking i should make an effort & go there again. We have a couple of friends that we usually holiday with & they keep saying they would love to go back to "Czecho" but won't do it alone . They are a few years younger than us & more mobile though, so we will have to give it some thought. Hope you enjoy your Golden Helmet weekend , might be back there next year ourselves -

The transport system in Prague & surrounding areas is brilliant I used to get the 7day tickets when I visited for breaks there in the past . i haven't been since Covid as I can't be bothered by the "terrible service being offered by the airlines & airports presently.i first visited what was then Czechoslovakia in, i think, 1989 & have seen some massive changes there in the years since. I love the place & have visited many of the tourist locations in & around Prague over the years. Many happy memories -

Done this many times . Even the slowest trains used to get us to Pardubice in 90 mins , buy some bus tickets at the train station on arrival for a few Czk's & jump on the speedway special bus to the the stadium. Once you get used to the system it's quite easy & as many have stated previously the Golden Helmet weekend is something every speedway fan should exprience at least once.
