British Final 2021
Bagpuss replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
It's not Lambert and Woffinden's fault that our league is such a poor product nowadays, they base themselves in Poland to ride in the best league and to make good money. Bewley and possibly Ellis will probably follow suit as their career trajectories go up and up, riders don't want all the travel backwards and forwards and prefer two race days as well as World Championshop commitments. World class riders will outgrow what we have over here because its been managed so badly over the last 20-30 years and I would never blame any British rider for cutting the UK out of their schedule. -
I did Trelawny twice mate, fantastic little track and venue. Mine would be Norwich, West Ham, Wimbledon, Hyde Road and Halifax.

I'd fancy Lawson ahead of those latter two. -

It's done on 2019 averages one suspects, the only way it can be done fairly without qualifiers. That said I'm sure the majority of people would prefer to see what Brennan can do. -
You are so sensitive about your Polish lads, chill the idiot out you absolute melt. I couldn't care less if Zmarzlik was from Outer Mongolia, I don't want to see somebody winning it two, three, four years on the trot. Rickardsson bored me for that very reason. So off you trot, there's a good lad/lass.

Leicester vs Eastbourne. 14 Aug. 2021
Bagpuss replied to PowerfulPierre's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As good as Kemp was bad by the look of it. He's been a real disappointment in both leagues this year unfortunately. -
Might have done but for Bjarne's injury, a real shame.

Belle Vue NSS Peterborough Scunthorpe Lynn pre millennium and the 'stock car' shale Mildenhall before they started making it like a ploughed field

I think most Lynn fans would say not very well for the last few years.

King's Lynn Stars v Peterborough Panthers 12/08/21
Bagpuss replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
From what I've heard Lawson just ran out of steam and was knackered in heat 15, to be honest I don't agree with home tacticals so perhaps justice was served in the end. Also while we all want to see our team win it seems that it's been an entertaining season at Lynn, last heat deciders and better racing are no bad thing. As long its not every season I guess -

Poole v Redcar. Championship. 11th August 2021
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As has been said why would Poole not want to run on a sunny Wednesday evening with holidaymakers everywhere? -
Belle Vue v Peterborough 9th August
Bagpuss replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I do get that but if for example an FTR had two 'protected' heats (one of which would have a second string in in anyway) and then two unrestricted ones I don't think any flat track bullying would occur. It's about getting the balance right. And without wanting to take away from Pailin's heat 13 win on Monday that does t happen nine times out of ten so as good a ride as it was I don't think it proves an awful lot in isolation. -

I think he makes valid general points, don't think on this occasion team or club bias comes into it. Hans is an anomaly in the Flint comment as riders of his class are rarely at reserve but I think the system does need tweaking a bit, FTR's should have four rides and should be in either heat 8, 12 or 14 and not just heat two and then two harder heats. -
Wolverhampton v King's Lynn 9th August 2021
Bagpuss replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We know we are the weakest of the six teams so all fans want to see is effort, commitment and fight and in scoring 38 at Wolves I think that was the case tonight. Thought we'd do well to get thirty so fair play to the team. -

Poole at a canter I'd imagine. -
Peterborough v Kings Lynn 5th August

I think also folk are reluctant to turn up, pay to get in and then stand for hours watching remedial work because its rained and have riders standing around umming and ahhing about whether to ride or not, there is never any decisive action ir urgency. Paying supporters have been bottom of the priority list for many years unfortunately. -

Yep I've seen the radar, I trust the met more than my fag packet skills though. It could well change to showers as the afternoon wears on but right now on their app it's a black cloud with two raindrops a d no little sun peeking round the cloud for five hours. We know why they call off early, it's because folk will be put off going if its wet even if the track can be sorted. Will the riders even fancy it? I expect even a small dip in the attendance will mean a loss so they are no longer prepared to chance it. -

The Met Office are forecasting proper rain between 3 and 8 for Alwalton, not showers. -
I think he's just having a poor year. Been disappointing for Lynn.

Monarchs top heavier than Sam Fox but that's a good point which looked highly unikely early doors.
