At last a decent GP, the series has been tripe since the opening round. Fantastic speedway.

Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi Final
Bagpuss replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Blobby and jenga are like bad smells on Glasgow threads., -
He has said himself he doesn’t know how long he’ll be out so I don’t expect Lynn to put a time frame on it. I can’t imagine we’ll hear anything until the preview for the next meeting ie over the weekend. Pretty sure it’ll be guests, on Monday it’s Poole, Swindon & P’boro not riding so possibly somebody like Holder or Tungate. Whoever it is has massive boots to fill.

Inevitable that Somerset’s changes would be shown up as flawed as soon as they faced a decent team, they will get away with it against lesser sides but unless one of those reserves miraculously starts scoring points they’ll be also rans.
-
Wow, that is ridiculously top heavy.

Any remote chance we had of squeaking fourth has surely gone with that news. Balderdash! Get well soon Robert.

In sure they will bring another rider in but you can’t expect them to do it in two or three days before the next fixture! -
But it was Somerset’s choice to go so top heavy.

What’s the alternative? -
It’s Somerset’s choice but I’m no fan of top heavy teams and almost having sacrificial reserves, to be fair Rowe has done well but it was inevitable that at least one of them wouldn’t see the season out. Hopefully he will come back stronger for the experience. A little bit of pressure is good for youngsters but not too much, plus does it really make for enjoyable, unpredictable meetings if like at Brum in Wednesday a team has ten plus wins and lasts.

Dickson hasn’t got an issue with it so I’m not sure why anyone else should have, least of all Edinburgh fans.

I think the idea is to make the team stronger in an effort to win the league, could be wrong though.

King's Lynn vs Peterborough. Thursday July 25th
Bagpuss replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Nope, he’s saying Lynn is overprepared to start with on race night, I’ve commented on this before about riders hanging on to the bike and getting strung out because the track is too grippy and hard to ride. He’s saying people can race properly once it’s slickened off a bit. So from a punter’s point of view surely it would be better to start off a bit slicker. -
I think the first lay downs were used by Hans Nielsen and Mark Loram in the World Semi Final at Bradford in 1994, seem to remember it not being until 1996 that they were permitted in the UK though.

King's Lynn vs Peterborough. Thursday July 25th
Bagpuss replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Interesting that Craig Cook had his say on BBC Radio Norfolk yesterday in an interview recorded on Thursday evening, he said that the track is over prepared early on and you can’t race until it slickens off towards the end of the meeting. Makes you wonder if a rider coming out and saying something might do any good. Probably not but you never know. -

I think Trees’ opinions probably could be more balanced just like yours but both you and Haza have laughed at her in this thread as well as accusing her of cosying up to the promotion and getting in for free. As I said she deserves more respect, especially as you two don’t go anymore (completely understand why) and she works hard for the supporters club etc . -

Bagpuss replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That’s all great but don’t take it out on somebody who enjoys going. If you are criticising her for only being positive when you are exactly the same in only ever being negative. I assume when you refer to only two positives you mean in promoting terms as you don’t mention the fact that we have arguably the best speedway track in the world in this country. -

Bagpuss replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I’m sure Trees can fight her own battles but there needs to be a little bit more respect for her views. Nothing wrong with a it of positivity on quite a dark thread, provides a little bit of balance. Ridiculing her just isn’t on though just because others see things differently. -

Swindon v Belle Vue Premiership Thursday 25/07/2019
Bagpuss replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Surely people aren’t judging Aarnio on injuries? If he had ridden every meeting since being signed and carded lots of lasts then fair enough but he can’t be criticised if he’s not actually on track? In any event Berge should be doing much, much better than that. -

Bagpuss replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As you well know I said if he gates, as few (no?) Lynn riders would have passed him. He obviously didn’t so no points. It’s stock cars that count and not speedway, not sure the race times are of any relevance. Cars completely dictate the surface nowadays.
