I actually believe that there should be a league winners shield like in Rugby League, everyone will know that the Play Offs decide the champions but a bit of recognition for being the best team over the league programme would be appropriate IMO. Along with a bit of celebrating. Maybe it did spur Poole on a bit but I believe Lynn would have won the final comfortably if it wasn’t for those two injuries. At the end of the day Poole were perfectly entitled to celebrate their comeback in the first leg but equally if Ipswich were wound up by it then they are entitled to use it as their motivation. A pretty regular occurrence in professional sport I’d say.

I think all Lynn fans on here know that and know ie too much clay in the dirt which suits cars but not bikes. That doesn’t mean we can’t comment on the racing elsewhere. I think there were reasons it was poor last night, from my point of view I went to the Foxhole many times between 1992 and 2002 (was a regular in 1999 when I lived in Chelmsford) and the shape of the track now is a million times better than it was then.

The Foxhole has a big old capacity though, it could be a decent crowd for a speedway meeting and still look half empty.

Not necessarily. I can’t believe any team would become complacent in the first meeting of a two legged tie, you just have to keep at it for every heat. But sometimes speedway riders aren’t the cleverest.

I don’t think they got complacent, they just failed to adapt to the changing conditions and lost the ability to gate.

If they met up and had a pint and a chat it might save us a lot of the garbage on here.

Impossible to say really, you would imagine it didn’t help but only those in the thick of the pits action could possibly know. I think the right team manager can motivate riders and squeeze extra out of a team just as Rob Lyon used to, people questioned last year if Dale could do the same and results would suggest he did but who knows.
