Who will be taking Gregs place ?
Bagpuss replied to adonis's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Still early in the season, more to come from Robert I’m sure. He’s not fully up to speed yet the same as a lot of riders. Riding in a few GP’s will be invaluable experience. -

Not saying a particular figure but by the time the Play Offs are happening somebody will have made the number five position their own and be able to contribute in 13 & 15 consistently. Most likely Riss. -

Don’t see an awful lot wrong with that to be honest. -

One could imagine a bumpy, potholey track not being particularly comfortable for him though even after a month. -

Despite good things going on at Glasgow, Ipswich and Swindon amongst others it’s generally been a pretty poor start to the UK season with poor track and poor racing issues at Poole, Sheffield, Somerset, Peterborough, Lynn, Leicester and Berwick according to people on here (not always the best source admittedly) and beyond. Some reported poor attendances too (as well as some good ones for balance) added to the second division champions not even getting to the tapes. It feels like British speedway is at a massive crossroads and it’s going to need radical thinking to enable it to take the correct road. The bottom line is that much of British speedway is an overpriced, atmosphere-less and pretty unentertaining night out and it simply has to change. -
But compare the reserves, that’s the main difference. Also Somerset fans were watching the World Champion last year. For a minimal reduction that equals a big come down, especially if the racing isn’t cutting it.

By the business end of the season we shall have one. Sticking my neck out. -

Riss can average seven, Jorgensen could knock on the door of seven with an injury free run. Kasper will be a great number seven once (if) he gets the hang of Lynn. -

Riders improve and develop Sid, as you expect some of yours will as the season progresses so do I of Riss and Andersen in particular. -

Despite various moans and groans neither you or anyone else have come up with the name of a rider who could replace Andersen better than Lambert did? And in a meeting Lynn had to win I won’t accept the name of a token youngster who would have been out of their depth. Riss or Jorgensen will step up to second heat leader this year....you heard it here first. I’d have thought Swindon’s eleven last places show the value of a solid team compared to a top heavy one. Give me the former any day. -
It is encouraging to read a bit of balance among Panthers fans.

Buster needs to sort the track out, no excuse for wrecking one of the best racetracks in the country whatever you think of the team. And I think over the season Tungate will prove to be better than Harris would have been. The Cook thing has been done to death. I don’t think Buster is the devil incarnate that some are making out but I fully understand why some P’boro fans won’t have him.

That last point had crossed my mind....

You are entitled to your opinion but the results so far don’t back up what you claim. After two opening defeats we’ve gone four unbeaten and very poor teams don’t do that. We are average certainly at the moment but not poor. -
They have a pretty good non league team who are in Play Offs to get up to the National League north / south. But Norfolk is a one professional club county so NCFC are a county wide club, apart from the Yarmouth chavs who support big six teams.

Indeed, although I hear last nights meeting at Lynn had two decent races out of fifteen. Not a good ratio once again.

You seem like a man with all the answers, maybe you could tell us all which nights the Premiership should run on and how that would work. -
Should it be down to a member of track staff two days later to explain things though? If there were issues then the promotion could have cleared things up on the day with punters.

Not sure we were there for the taking. Like last year I think this Lynn side will take some beating at home. -

I don’t think the Elite Shield should count as it’s essentially two challenge matches but if you insist then Lynn have won away too. But really only cup and league meetings should count. -
Astonished that Cook is in rather than Bewley.
