Robert only had two rides in Sweden tonight, presumably he is feeling the effects of last nights crash? Hope there isn’t an injury involved and that he is fit for Monday evening.

Nobody at Lynn thinks it’s a gimme, and it’s silly to think that just because we picked Belle Vue. Would expect us to keep this close but it depends on the fitness of our three heatleaders who could all go into this meeting carrying injuries.

I thought the racing was good without being brilliant. Certainly one of the better non NSS telly meetings but that isn’t saying much really. Have seen much better at / from Somerset in the past. Poole gated well and as usual have raised their game at the business end of the season. Somerset very much still in it though.

Teams will always have an extra edge if written off, that extra % or two of motivation could be the difference. I have no doubt Middlo would have told his team what May said last week and that will always motivate a team a little bit more.

Better than what? I said something similar about Gary May’s ‘smash them’ comments last week which I’m sure helped motivate Poole’s riders last night. Even Nigel Pearson commented that the fist pump didn’t seem an appropriate reaction after Poole had lost the meeting. Just think sometimes that team managers do their riders few favours. Happens in football too although they are interviewed ad nauseum so they are inevitably going to trip up at some point. Middlo clearly thinks Poole will go through but he would have been better keeping that to himself.

I wasn’t there either but I’ve seen this minority ‘hooligan’ element around the pits at Lynn before when one of our riders was stuffed, admittedly it was eleven years ago when Tommy Allen squeezed Trevor Harding into the fence against Rye House but for a split second things were ugly before they calmed down. Passions do run high and while the proximity of spectators to the pits is a good thing it can also give a minority the opportunity to be aggressive and abusive towards riders which isn’t good. Anyway no surprise that Batchelor was in the middle of it all and Robin Brundle had some harsh words on Twitter for him afterwards. The most important thing is that Robert & Niels are ok otherwise we are going into the Play Offs without a fully fit heat leader.

A picture of Muddlo punching the air should go on the wall of Somerset’s changing room for the second leg, all the team talk and motivation they should need seeing him celebrating Poole going through already in his mind.

More worryingly Batchelor has just wiped Robert out on the first bend of heat 15 and he’s with the medics. Could be going into the Play Offs without a fit heat leader. Awesome.

I think Somerset might have blown it. Fair play to Poole. Racing reasonably good but got a bit fed up of having to look up Gary May’s nostrils before every other heat. Pearson’s shouting does grate as the night goes on too.

I assume people remember the P’boro v Reading final of 2006? Absolutely correct that there are no tacticals in two legged ties.

Ah yes but that was different Col, that was ‘sour grapes’ because Puk scored poorly and Lynn were thrashed. Amazing how different two similar situations can be depending on whether Poole win or lose and where the meetings took place I can’t imagine too many people take the absolute guff he writes seriously to be honest.

To be fair in the first match Aces were missing Fricke & Cook.

Thing is despite the bleating from the south coast nobody knows anything, it’s all supposition and conjecture. People probably would be up in arms if it was Poole in Belle Vue’s position because for them it would be yet another stunt pulled whereas it isn’t really the Aces’ MO. And as others have said it doesn’t really appear to present Belle Vue with any huge advantage.

I also think it sounds unprofessional.

To be fair it’s a very fair and gracious match report, although the use of the word ‘we’ should be banned from the website of any professional sports team/club.

Common sense would surely be to let Newcastle fans use their tickets and pay the difference.
