  1. You are one of the better Poole posters fb and have been for some years but occasionally I do wonder which planet you are posting from.
  2. Kerr was fast and competitive in his first two then having a good scrap while holding third when he went wide and lost ground in his third race before being outgated in heat 14. He was ok but will want to be scoring more than that at home and I’m sure he will. Thought Jorgensen rode pretty well. Proctor and MPT were ok but need to do a bit more and Riss was obviously excellent. As Bwitcher says a normal score from Lambert and we’d have won but in any event Poole will / would win over two legs. Just don’t think it’s all doom and gloom although Kasper is a bit of a concern as he looked no better round Lynn than a year ago. Next week’s result is likely to tell us an awful lot.
  3. Two half decent races for £18 on a chilly night didn’t feel like particularly good VFM especially when the team lost. Not an awful lot wrong from numbers 2-6 but the number one and seven aren’t doing the required job at the moment, one of those riders will obviously come good once machinery is sorted but you wonder if the other has it in him to pull his weight. Still early days so the benefit of the doubt must go to him for a few more meetings yet. Poole were decent value for their win although ten points was a bit flattering considering how tight things were for thirteen heats. Lots of rusty men and machines on show for both sides and a fairly flat atmosphere, sometimes it feels like a social occasion where people meet for a chat and a beer / tea / coffee with some incidental speedway going on in the background. Not a lot of rider / crowd interaction but a pretty healthy attendance judging by the car parks. Hoping for better on all fronts next week against those pesky Twitches.
  4. Come now, that doesn’t fit in with the agenda. As I’ve said before twenty other riders didn’t have an issue with the club themes including bigger names than Mr Cook.
  5. Would expect P’boro to give a good account of themselves but Belle Vue to win reasonably comfortably, something like 50-40.
  6. Lynn lining up tonight as follows 1 Lambert 2 Riss 3 Proctor 4 Kerr 5 Jorgensen 6 Palm Toft 7 Andersen Can understand keeping the Lambert/ Riss partnership as it was so strong last year but would have preferred Riss at five with Kerr at two and Jorgensen four for better balance. Look forward to being proved wrong! Unless one team wins by a big margin I don’t think tonight’s result will be anything to worry about for either club, early days with riders getting back into it. From Lynn’s point of view I’d like to see plenty of positive signs especially from the lower order sand some good action with a sprinkling of controversy for those braving the cold.
  7. He will always get grief, don’t think it bothers him in the slughtest though. I agree, some is justified and some not. Tungate probably no worse than Bomber scoring wise but a big difference in excitement value.
  8. Agree but you have to put yourself in a P’boro supporters shoes....strong and exciting team announced with Harris and Cook spearheading and by the first meeting they are both gone and not adequately replaced. Also Buster was never really wanted by those supporters for various understandable reasons. Can’t blame people for being disillusioned. Need to see who they can come up with to replace Cook though. Wouldn’t necessarily rule out him signing in the end, anything possible. People feel let down at the moment but if / when they get a home win or two with some good racing it will make a big difference. I’m sure an Easter Monday victory would go down well
  9. Indeed, doesn’t seem like a money issue to me. Harris released to bolster Ipswich and solve the Tungate issue, Cook didn’t sign due to the sponsorship disagreement. Could be wrong of course but that’s how it looks to me.
  10. The poll opens after heat 10 and closes after heat 13 and there’s no counting as Twitter keeps score automatically so I don’t think there will be any ‘standing around’. No reason why it shouldn’t all happen within the normal flow of the meeting.
  11. Why would this idea make people not go? If people don’t like the concept then just pretend it doesn’t exist and treat heat 14 as another nominated heat, go to enjoy the racing and don’t worry about it.
  12. Lynn is too grippy because of stock car shale. No stocks at Peterborough so they have proper dirt. Opening meetings are rarely the best barometer for quality of racing especially if one team has plenty of heat wins and several lasts too. They are generally for getting back into the swing of things and ridding both man and machine of cobwebs. If the speedway is still processional after a few more meetings then there may well be other questions to be asked.
  13. No surprise really at who is slagging the idea off before seeing it in action. To me if you only have four riders you would want to be involved in the nominated heats then you only put forward four names and it’s as broad as it is long who goes in which heat. If you have more than four and/or want to protect somebody for heat fifteen then you leave that rider out of the poll. I would imagine it would be very rare for opposing supporters to be able to vote for a makeweight in an attempt to weaken the other sides chances. As I’ve said before this might only last a season and not really work but it’s a new idea which embraces social media and they are trying something different to engage people. Let’s give it a chance and see.
  14. Absolutely not but I can’t believe they won’t find somebody better than Summers in the next few weeks.
  15. It was said at the time he signed that Summers was a short term replacement for Cook.
  16. Surely the main purpose of fixed RACE nights is to avoid doubling up fixture clashes?
  17. I would also argue that early season meetings rarely produce the best racing. Plus if you have two riders from one side on another planet to the rest it doesn’t help. Its sensible to give it a few meetings before passing too much judgement however some people seem to be salivating at their keyboard waiting for the first opportunity to stick the boot in to make themselves feel better. Each to their own.
  18. Buster obviously wrong to say that Bjerre isn’t a heat leader in the Premiership but I suspect he has been let down by him at Lynn too many times in the past for him to pay what Kenneth was after.
  19. Ah I got it slightly wrong then, the two who ‘lose’ the heat 14 poll don’t automatically end up in 15. So if for example Lynn wanted to hold Lambert back for heat 15 they could put the rest of the top five up for the Twitter poll. The risk would be if one of those four riders was having a bad night.....
  20. Why is it ridiculous? Gets supporters involved and uses social media, what’s not to like.
  21. As I understand it the team manager nominates four riders and the Twitter poll is to choose which two of those go in heat 14. So it’s as broad as it is long really. Opposing fans can’t choose your two worst riders out of the whole seven.
  22. I’m sure they will target a win in every meeting this season, no reason not to. Disappointment at defeat is fine as long as people don’t start being silly ie demanding riders be sacked and writing the team off after one loss (if we lose). One thing this forum does very badly is perspective.
