  1. I think that’s the problem trying to book guests in October when many teams and riders have finished their seasons and probably explains why Howarth appeared at reserve on Wednesday.
  2. Really hope this isn’t another final decided by injuries and guests, it’s a pity the cup can’t be ridden and decided early in the season so it’s separate from the Play Offs. Would be great to win and not end the season empty handed but Somerset have good riders (the fit ones) and it will be a tough final.
  3. Don’t necessarily agree with the Jorgensen bit but the rest is pure sense, you should post more often Have said elsewhere that Poole deserve a lot of credit for signing Harris and Klindt when they were riding like a pair of old women and getting good form out of them. Fair play. I personally think if Iversen, Palm Toft and Kurtz had all ridden in both legs we’d have scored 100 points or so and won comfortably. But we’ll never know, and if my auntie had balls etc. Maybe next year.
  4. It’s been said before but Super League Rugby awards a league winners shield and that seems like a perfect way to recognise the team who finished top to me.
  5. Exactly. This years team was obviously built with the expectancy of Thursday night racing which then changed late in the day. Riders will need to be signed based on their availability for 2019.
  6. Not to be unfortunately, the injuries have come at the wrong time and ruined our chances in a final we probably would have otherwise won. Frustrating but that’s speedway. I can take comfort from the fact we finished top of the pile even though it’s ultimately resulted no trophy. Hopefully we can win the cup next week as a bit of consolation. Congratulations to the riders and supporters of Poole Pirates for taking advantage and winning the title.
  7. Depends on race nights and how much common sense is applied when compiling the fixture list (usually little). He will be on an attractive average.
  8. Right here we go, the day has arrived. If we can’t win against all odds then let’s put the wind up this lot and go down fighting. COME ON YOU STARS
  9. I don’t understand this ‘helping Lynn’ thing. Leaving out whether people agree with it or not for a moment we chose a guest in accordance with the rules and then a solution was found with everyone in agreement which meant you guys get somebody whose average is too high so you are hardly being disadvantaged. If people have a problem with the situation then all three parties need to be blamed.
  10. Probably not that early but soon after I don’t hate your club but I hate Ford. The stuff he had been allowed to get away with over the years has done irreparable damage to British speedway and even if he does Foxtrot Oscar in the winter (please God) it’s probably too late for the sport.
  11. Exactly. On a big occasion and with all due respect to Adam you would want an experienced GP rider in your team even if he doesn’t like the track.
  12. Why would we not blame Jakobsen? I’m sure he didn’t mean it and he wasn’t riding dirty but he has knocked one of our key riders off and injured him. An accident but his fault, compounded by the referee getting it horrendously wrong. I think the reason Poole fans are generally despised is that very few of them have enough about them to say ‘yep we got away with one there’ and win with a bit of grace. Instead let’s sling a bit of mud the other way and see if it sticks as a distraction. Very sad.
  13. That ship sailed many, many years ago. Probably just after Ford took over.
  14. It amazes me that anybody takes a blind bit of notice of what he says. He’s a wind up merchant / troll / general wally on here. Just ignore! You’ll feel much better
  15. We’ll have to agree to disagree. I’m sure you lot remember what it felt like in 2010 when you finished top and lost the final, we’ll its pretty likely we are going to experience the same thing with the help of two injuries and a diabolical referee decision. I didn’t think we would win last night but get 40 and I thought we had a great chance. On another day and without Jakobsen cleaning MPT up we would have got them as we had the momentum and would have been taking that into tomorrow night. However it was not to be, that’s life. But I think we are entitled to feel sour about it.
  16. Depends what you expected, he’s on 6.27. I expected 6-6.5 so I think he’s done ok.
  17. I’d not have Proctor back as he has gone missing at the vital stage of the season but I’d certainly have Riss and Jorgensen in 2019.
  18. Do you not think we are entitled to be for what went on in heat 12? Don’t get me wrong, plenty of our problems were self inflicted but that decision and MPT’s subsequent injury are an absolute hammer blow.
  19. From kingslynnstars.co STARS SKIPPER AIMS FOR FAST START Tuesday October 09, 2018 ROBERT LAMBERT admitted his side need to “hit Poole hard” on the biggest night in King’s Lynn’s history. The Tru Plant Stars were on the receiving end of a Poole barrage at Wimborne Road on Monday night in the first leg of their Premiership Play-Off final. Now they need to claw back a 16-point deficit at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday if they are to land their first-ever top flight league championship. It promises to be an epic night and defiant skipper Lambert believes they need to give Poole a dose of their own medicine. He said: “We can get 5-1s and hopefully hit them hard from the beginning and their heads will drop. “I don’t know what was up with the referee at Poole, I thought he was good before tonight. But that didn’t help us to say the least. “I guess 16 points is not the best deficit we wanted but considering how the meeting started, it’s good to come away with that. “We would have liked it to be a bit less but it could have been worse. It’s nothing we can’t make up. “We are capable of doing to them what they did to us, 100 per cent. We can get off to a flier and it won’t make any difference what gates we’ve got because we know they are consistent. “I changed bikes and it seemed to work a bit better but I still didn’t feel comfortable really I was having to ride the thing out of my skin to try and get anywhere. It’s just one of those tracks, I never have liked it and I’m happy it’s the last time I’m coming here this season. “We are gunning to bring this back. King’s Lynn haven’t done this before and won the league and it would be great for the club if we could do it.” Tru Plant Stars have suffered a second injury blow with the news that Michael Palm Toft has suffered a broken hand in his crash at Poole. Wolverhampton’s Kyle Howarth has agreed to deputise in the reserve spot. Boss Dale Allitt said: “It’s a big blow to lose Tofty and we cannot deny that. “I spoke to Kyle and he’s up for the challenge, he’d love to win it with us. I’m sure he can score some valuable points at reserve.” KING’S LYNN: Robert Lambert, Erik Riss, Ty Proctor, Thomas Jorgensen, Adam Ellis, Kyle Howarth, Simon Lambert. POOLE: Chris Harris, Josh Grajczonek, Kacper Woryna, Nicolai Klindt, Nick Morris, Richie Worrall, Frederik Jakobsen.
  20. I think they’ve gone for Ellis as he is generally decent at Lynn. I would say a better bet than Hans although he obviously has more experience. Kasper is too young to be the senior reserve on the night IMO and while Aarnio or NBJ are in form they haven’t done too many laps round Lynn before. Howarth is probably the safe bet even though he’s not in great form. The bottom line though is that we are likely to miss our injured riders a fair bit.
  21. No might about it, we need one or two Pirates to have stinkers and some referee calls to go our way. A good start is imperative. If we can get a ten point lead over the first five or six heats we’ll have some momentum and a good chance. Really can’t see anything other than Poole keeping it tight though and sealing the deal in a professional, no fuss manner.
  22. These kinds of posts are worthless without an alternative suggestion as to who should have been booked instead. And this is a Play Off final, with a league title at stake. I can’t imagine cost comes into it.
  23. I’d like to be positive and think that Howarth could come in and match MPT’s performance levels around Lynn but it’s difficult to see considering his form this season. I can accept losing a two legged tie to a better team, even after finishing top, but for injuries and awful refereeing to play a major part makes it a very bitter pill to swallow. Hopefully the Stars will he fired up and surprise everyone but I can see this being a tight meeting and the margin on the night being two to four points either way.
