Kings Lynn v Poole Playoff Final 2nd leg 10/10/18
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
From kingslynnstars.co STARS SKIPPER AIMS FOR FAST START Tuesday October 09, 2018 ROBERT LAMBERT admitted his side need to “hit Poole hard” on the biggest night in King’s Lynn’s history. The Tru Plant Stars were on the receiving end of a Poole barrage at Wimborne Road on Monday night in the first leg of their Premiership Play-Off final. Now they need to claw back a 16-point deficit at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday if they are to land their first-ever top flight league championship. It promises to be an epic night and defiant skipper Lambert believes they need to give Poole a dose of their own medicine. He said: “We can get 5-1s and hopefully hit them hard from the beginning and their heads will drop. “I don’t know what was up with the referee at Poole, I thought he was good before tonight. But that didn’t help us to say the least. “I guess 16 points is not the best deficit we wanted but considering how the meeting started, it’s good to come away with that. “We would have liked it to be a bit less but it could have been worse. It’s nothing we can’t make up. “We are capable of doing to them what they did to us, 100 per cent. We can get off to a flier and it won’t make any difference what gates we’ve got because we know they are consistent. “I changed bikes and it seemed to work a bit better but I still didn’t feel comfortable really I was having to ride the thing out of my skin to try and get anywhere. It’s just one of those tracks, I never have liked it and I’m happy it’s the last time I’m coming here this season. “We are gunning to bring this back. King’s Lynn haven’t done this before and won the league and it would be great for the club if we could do it.” Tru Plant Stars have suffered a second injury blow with the news that Michael Palm Toft has suffered a broken hand in his crash at Poole. Wolverhampton’s Kyle Howarth has agreed to deputise in the reserve spot. Boss Dale Allitt said: “It’s a big blow to lose Tofty and we cannot deny that. “I spoke to Kyle and he’s up for the challenge, he’d love to win it with us. I’m sure he can score some valuable points at reserve.” KING’S LYNN: Robert Lambert, Erik Riss, Ty Proctor, Thomas Jorgensen, Adam Ellis, Kyle Howarth, Simon Lambert. POOLE: Chris Harris, Josh Grajczonek, Kacper Woryna, Nicolai Klindt, Nick Morris, Richie Worrall, Frederik Jakobsen. -
I think they’ve gone for Ellis as he is generally decent at Lynn. I would say a better bet than Hans although he obviously has more experience. Kasper is too young to be the senior reserve on the night IMO and while Aarnio or NBJ are in form they haven’t done too many laps round Lynn before. Howarth is probably the safe bet even though he’s not in great form. The bottom line though is that we are likely to miss our injured riders a fair bit.

No might about it, we need one or two Pirates to have stinkers and some referee calls to go our way. A good start is imperative. If we can get a ten point lead over the first five or six heats we’ll have some momentum and a good chance. Really can’t see anything other than Poole keeping it tight though and sealing the deal in a professional, no fuss manner. -

I’d like to be positive and think that Howarth could come in and match MPT’s performance levels around Lynn but it’s difficult to see considering his form this season. I can accept losing a two legged tie to a better team, even after finishing top, but for injuries and awful refereeing to play a major part makes it a very bitter pill to swallow. Hopefully the Stars will he fired up and surprise everyone but I can see this being a tight meeting and the margin on the night being two to four points either way. -

I’m sure it will be prepared as it has been all season which our riders like. Making it different to catch Poole out could also catch our own riders out so just maintain the status quo and hope for a bit of luck which we are going to need. -

If MPT rides and we have luck on our side this time then it’s doable but the odds are stacked against us. Need to make a good start and we need a lot more than eleven points from the three middle order men. -
Didn’t see that coming! Common sense certainly prevails but never thought all three parties could come to an agreement like that. Yes Morris takes Poole over the limit but it’s better than the alternative and the difference is quite small. If they win because he scores two hatfuls it will rankle a bit but in the grand scheme of British speedway it’s the right thing to do as guests are obviously hard to find this time of year.

Mr Ford has never considered the good of the sport so this is all a little bit rich in all honesty. And considering the number of stunts pulled by Poole over the years Mr Middleditch would do well to keep his gob firmly shut rather than spouting off. Rule bending has suited him fine over the years and he’s never made a peep. All that said double R/R would be the perfect solution and one I would applaude.

Surely those Poole fans playing the morality card aren’t typing with a straight face? Yes it’s bloody ridiculous but it is so because the rule book doesn’t prevent it. Lynn can’t be blamed for going down this road as they are in a desperate situation, and yes Poole would have done exactly the same whatever the hot air is coming out of Dorset.

No Lambert but from what I’ve heard I don’t think he’ll be too disappointed, plenty of time for him going forward to make his mark on the GP’s. Another good year next year and hopefully he will either qualify or get a wild card pick, meanwhile he has one last tilt at the World U21 and a first season in the Extraliga to concentrate on and gain experience from.

Even if he rides which looks highly doubtful he won’t be anywhere near his best after a crash like that. This is the problem with Play Offs......yes it’s exciting and yes it gets big crowds and the tv companies love it but you ride a full league season and it often comes down to which team is lucky or unlucky with injuries in October and what sort of replacement can be cobbled together. Could be a cricket score tomorrow if we have to go with R/R.
