King's Lynn v Wolves 22/08/18 DOUBLE HEADER
Bagpuss replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I don’t understand why anyone would by a season ticket nowadays. -
13 points for Kasper at Edinburgh tonight, good lad.

I expect there will be a press release on Tuesday as there normally is. Sports clubs shouldn't have to comment on speculation every time some crops up, football clubs don't and nor should speedway promotions. -
King's Lynn v Wolves 22/08/18 DOUBLE HEADER
Bagpuss replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We've had all this 'in the squad' stuff for Denmark already this season and it amounted to nothing....take away the speculation and the only actual information we have is that Iversen and Jorgensen wont be missing any more scheduled fixtures (not sure about MPT off the top of my head) and that's what we have to go by until anything different is said. If riders are missing I'll be at the front of the queue to have a moan. -
Poole v Swindon Prem B. 22/8/18
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Belle Vue's results this week show that you never know but I'd expect Poole to comfortably cover for their missing men and win the meeting by enough to deny Swindon a point. -
Why worry? There are a million and one more important things in life than his witterings. Well done to Belle Vue for pulling their fingers out when it really matters.

King's Lynn v Wolves 22/08/18 DOUBLE HEADER

I think £25 would be decent value IF everything goes smoothly and we get thirty heats. Even £27 isn't too bad if the racing is reasonably good. However if they are issues and the second match gets cut short it's not. -

I think the assumption is that it will be 25 heats and not thirty. Out of interest what price do people think this should be? I'd have thought £25 would be about right. -
And always a conspiracy theory.

Somerset vs Belle Vue Premiership 15/08/18
Bagpuss replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Purely from an entertainment viewpoint Aces v Rebels would be the perfect final. -
I think the fact that Buster is choosing to stage double headers would suggest that there will be no extension (as there shouldn't be).
-
Its a difficult one, Cook rode for Belle Vue before Glasgow but this fixture is rearranged while the Glasgow one isn't. Both could argue he should be riding for them. The bottom line is that if FRN had been arranged properly in the winter and not been turned into a dog's breakfast then PL fixtures wouldn't clash with any other meetings either over here or abroad.

Somerset vs Belle Vue Premiership 15/08/18
Bagpuss replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not really.....if we can't get enough points out of two home matches against each of Wolves and Leicester (plus a trip to Leicester) or can't get those home meetings on then we only have ourselves to blame and wouldn't deserve to be in the Play Offs. -

Great bouncebackability from the Aces, fair play. -
Adding a 1 week extension onto the cut-off date'
Bagpuss replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Of course it depends how many dates have been offered and how many alternative dates from Lynn that Somerset refused. An independent independent who decides when meetings take place might be the way forward. -
Nobody should get an extension. If we can't get our fixtures in then tough luck. I'm sure we can use a Thursday or two if necessary seeing as other clubs have.

Poole v Somerset. Prem B. 13/8/18 BT Sports.
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lynn's issues are down to the kind of shale used, great for stock cars and bangers but too grippy for good speedway. Lumps, bumps and holes wouldn't solve the problem. Who wants to see riders making mistakes on every corner or being thrown off line? The best speedway racing we see on telly is when tracks are smooth and riders have the confidence to race wheel to wheel without fear of piling up due to a bumpy track. Iversen asked in his Tweet 'what happened to the good old Poole?' suggesting he used to enjoy the track and it used to be smoother. Are we saying the racing is now better because of the lumps and bumps? He also said that Poole isn't the only track. Funny that Belle Vue doesn't have lumps and bumps yet produces the best speedway in the UK. -

Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The lumps and bumps were there for all to see last night. Vindicated what Iversen had to say a couple of weeks ago. -
Indeed, hence why I said 'on last night's evidence'. If you go there next week and win big then Poole would be favourites. Can't see anything other than a Rebels victory though.
-
Can't see us beating anyone over two legs as we don't win our home meetings by big enough margins. That said we are pretty good at Somerset if we can somehow get them in the semis. If it is a Pirates/Rebels final you would have to put Somerset down as slight favourites on last night's evidence.

King's Lynn v Wolves 22/08/18 DOUBLE HEADER
Bagpuss replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The trouble is they now have no choice, I agree there have been plenty of weeks to get these fixtures in but now that this meeting has been rained off for a second time it's either run a double header or miss the cut off so it's an easy decision. Double headers certainly aren't ideal, especially against the same team. The whole fixture list needs a massive shake up for next year, it's not rocket science that people prefer regular speedway. -
King's Lynn v Wolves 22/08/18 DOUBLE HEADER
Bagpuss replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The most likely explanation for me is that the information the club received suggested their world be some rain which would pass through before start time.....it would seem there has been more than anticipated hence the early call off. -
