Totally hear where you are coming from Mike but for me people who decide in November that they won't go to watch their team next season should they go EL simply aren't proper King's Lynn fans. And I would imagine that those minimum 60 people who don't come will be replaced by at least that many who haven't been since Lynn went down in 2003, as well as Ippo and P'boro fans who feel the same about their club's demotion / closure (fingers crossed it doesn't come to the latter). I don't really have a preference between EL and PL to be honest as long as the 2011 Stars are competitive, but what really gets up my nose is people who are not open to change, especially when many facts about the possible change are unknown.

I find it really irritating when people question why I and others don't attend more NL matches. The fact is that its expensive to follow the Stars home and sometimes away, AND support the Young Stars, as well as taking up a lot of time. If we end up racing EL next season and there are spare dates on Wednesdays for whatever reason (SWC etc) then I hope the Young Stars run on these Wednesdays as I'm sure that I and several other Lynn supporters would attend.

Don't disagree with what you are saying, we know that there are several of the world's top stars who don't ride over here. Sure the EL has its issues but its still the highest division in British speedway and some of the world's best race in it. And if the Stars go for it with a competitive team then who is to say it won't work out? As I've said on other threads its best to keep an open mind.

Hence why he said some

I can't imagine that we've signed an entire EL team in a week. Must be staying PL.

If there are sensitive negotiations happening then it wouldn't be prudent of them to release details in the press. We just have to be patient, people. Anybody would think we were a month away from tapes up, not four!
-
Not all of us are against it.....as long as we are competitive I'm open to the idea.

Andrew, thats the most sensible thing posted on here all day. Probably all year in fact. Not sure what to make of it all to be honest. Will wait for official announcements I think.
-
Even though Andrew E is nothing but a moaning minnie he's got a point as that team would come in at around two points under the limit. Swap J-Lo for Richard Sweetman however and it'd be 0.01 under
-
I wouldn't mind if he was as it would mean a rock solid team and probably represents the only way we could have Emiliano back. In theory if Tom was number one we could also have Schrammy, Lasse, Emiliano, Adam and Kozza and still have nearly five points for the other reserve.

This really should be a comfortable win for Buxton over the two legs but it will be interesting to see how the Young Stars handle the pressure of a final. Will be great experience for the likes of Jake & Lewis. Looking forward to the second leg next Wednesday.

Italian Grand Prix
Bagpuss replied to ladyluck's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm certainly not Gollob's biggest fan but he has deserved it this year. Brilliant stuff from Bomber tonight no surprise of course that he has done much better this year with generally more dirt around but its great to have a Brit in the world's top eight on merit -

You answered your own question.....Harris should have been on the Joker in that earlier ride that he blitzed. We were shouting at the TV for Lyon to do so. but no - The law of the sod meant that Harris won the races either side of his Joker ride and ended up on his backside for the double points race. Team GB did as well as could be expected. Respectable 4th place was the best we could hope for before the meeting and that's what we got! Edit - Bagpuss left the laptop logged in....post was actually by Jenn!! I'll be in bother when he realises I've lost where he was up to in this thread....!! -

Well done Poland, looked the strongest team on paper and proved it after a pretty messy start. Haven't read through the thread as I expect its full of negativity but I thought the Brits did as well as anyone could have hoped really. With better use of the Joker I guess third could have been achieved but we always looked the fourth strongest on paper. In any case second third or fourth are much of a muchness, its the winners who people remember. The most important thing for me is that we weren't a distant fourth and went down fighting. Hopefully the performance can be built on in 2011. Though the referee got his calls right with the exception of Gollob in heat three, was an all four back all day long. EDIT Have to add that even though Rob has to take the blame for the Joker mistake, its pretty clear from what was said that the riders (presumably Bomber in particular) have an input in the decision too. -
Or Millsy's.
-
So that means if we finish fourth it will be the track's fault and not Rob Lyon's?
-
It makes you wonder what people expect.....we've had two meetings with a fair bit of passing and results which have gone down to the last heat. Both meetings certainly entertained me.
-
I don't think its been all that bad to be honest. Like Monday riders are unsure of the best line and its led to some pretty good action, for the minor places at least.

Swc Event 2, King's Lynn, 26/7
Bagpuss replied to Bagpuss's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not unfathomable at all, the youngsters were picked for the good of the future. A plan which going by the averages of Kennett, Bridger and to a lesser extent King appears to have failed badly. Wasn't aiming it at you particularly ladyluck, apologies. -

Yet many people still had the Aussies down as favourites and were berating the choice of track People can't have it both ways. -
Extra costs (especially in a recession) Foreign riders missing fixtures as they are riding in their own country Disjointed fixtures due to GP's, SWC, World Championship qualifiers Facilities handed out on a whim Lack of variety (which a few clubs moving up would obviously solve) Average fixing (allegedly) They would be my guess, The promoters at Lynn, Rye House, Brum, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Sheffield would give you better answers though I'm sure. I don't for one minute think the PL is perfect cos its not. I would love to see my team in the EL but there are obviously a good reasons why the EL has only been nine teams strong for nearly ten years now. And you're not telling me its because Rye, Sheffield and Lynn have hosted one FIM meeting each in that time?
