I'm sure they have improved from the first race to the last in most matches but from meeting to meeting is where we should be seeing the real improvement. Hopefully the scores don't reflect the progress some of these lads are making and it would be nice if the same seven can come to the tapes next year and start to get a bit closer to teams and perhaps win some matches.

It must also raise the question of whether these Scunny lads are actually improving......

Absolutely confident. The PL & EL use many of the same riders, doesn't mean either is propping the other up.

The idea that the PL props up the EL but not vice versa is daft - there are umpteen riders who are on loan to PL clubs from EL clubs for a start, plus several who are really EL riders but use the PL to top up their earnings ie Cook, Barker, King, Stead, Lawson, Josh G, Morris, Klindt, Worrall etc. If riders were made to choose one league or the other I bet the PL would be the one to suffer. That's not to say the EL doesn't have its problems because it of course has many.

A little unecessary. Emma is a reasonably regular contributor to your clubs coffers as far as I'm aware.

While it was a great ride by Kurtz the two Monarchs made the job easier for him by keeping down low on the last lap.

Perhaps I'm a little biased but I'd suggest paid seven for Rose away from home in the top five is a pretty decent performance.

While I'd expect them to clean up at Berwick the other two matches may not prove quire so fruitful, some of Somerset's away performances haven't been great this year.

Having witnessed a rider lose his love in a very similar accident is one where he was thrown over the fence like a ragdoll I'm delighted to read that Matty Wethers is OK. Made my stomach churn seeing the crash. As for the Berwick track, it is what it is. The football pitch means narrow straights and therefore tight entries and exits to the bends. Its been that way for years and probably won't change.

Don't see how Berwick can possibly replace those three riders adequately on their averages around their home track. Should be a comfortable four points for Somerset.

I think there is more to it than that, an 8-1 usually has a psychological effect on both teams and often represents a big shift in momentum of the meeting. It certainly shouldn't ever be available to a home side IMO.

Wasn't it Mr Silver who came up with the TR? I'm no fan of it personally BUT it can't be denied that it makes some meetings more interesting.
