you can hardly blame them , when Sandhu arrived he was going to invest money which the stadium badly needed , but only once he was in did he reveal his true intention . and all his subsequent promises to ensure the bees had somewhere to race came to nothing , he never even looked at a single site , because he never had any intention of seeing the bees keep running . Only complete idiots believe he ever intended to see anythiung oithers than houses and money

and he was also involved with a v8 stock car series ,that rivalled formula 1 and eventually merged with Brisca F1 . I stumbled on that this afteroon while i was looking for the press release about the plan for the banked oval aT brandon . sods law I cant find it when i want it . but Ill keep searching . managed to find this on Wiki , Kirimaa was also a championship wiining driver over many years , No mention on his bio of Rebels cars though ,strange that A letter from BriSCA had been sent to the Hotstox drivers informing them that BriSCA no longer wished to be involved with the Hotstox as long as Kath Lomax was part of the organisation. Whether this stance was in support of Phil Haigh or as a direct reply to Kath Lomax's continued requests for proper treatment of the Hotstox at various tracks or because she resisted joining BriSCA is unclear. The Lomax's regrettably resigned from a formula they had been involved with for nearly 10 years. The whole committee then stood down and BriSCA requested that the Hotstox form a Board of Control to enable an easier integration into BriSCA. Plain and simply, BriSCA did not wish to work with Kath Lomax any longer and Kath honorably stood aside. The new committee was led by Hans Kirimaa.

And I know that there was once a plan to put a half mile banked oval round the outside of brandon , the proposal meant taking the backstraight terracing out . and the track extending out of each end of the stadium to the end of the stadium footprint , the speedway would then be on the infield and the only viewing would be from the main grandstand . there was an outline plan displayed at the time . sounds mad Don't it ? , well thats what everybody thought at the time . and the penny must have dropped with with the promotion because MR Kirimaa the investor disappeared almost as fast as he arrived , there must be plenty of folk who remember the proposal , so Ill just wait until someone else posts . at least I wont be waiting with my foot in my mouth ,like somebody else is

That Indy loop was once destined to be built round the outside of Brandon . mr kirimaa a german businessman bought into Coventry with that as the plan , sadly that was the beginning of the end ,because when he moved on he sold his share to Sandhu , the rest is history

Shane Parker used to take a loads of stuff home for the winter and come back without much of it , but the last few times he went he said the customs took invenetory as you wnet in and if you didn't have it all coming out you needed a good reason or big bills ensued for import duty

better than green which only lasted as long as it took for everybody to buy green ones , most riders already have plain yellow , as just like wearing pyjamas instead of leathers , easy and cheap to produce and a quick buck for manufacturers ,

when speedway was flourishing .although it was only 15 minutes of racing , it was 2 or more hours of an event , the anticiptaion of your top rider taking on theirs , the atmosphere from the minute you arrived at the stadium , banter on the terraces , local rivalry , and of course characters , go back to the days of Sean Wilsion Roman Matousek , anything could happen before during or after a race . speedway now is a clincal expeerience . get them in ,dole out the minimum in the shortest time to take their money , and hope they may come back next week , provided of course theres enough roders in the country to provide some speedway or they find out about it through connections , because they sure wont be seeing any fixtures in the local paper , my guess is 90% of people on the terraces go out of habit , a habit that is broken with a disjointed fixture list , and as In my own experience an easy one to break ,it only took 1 week and I wouldn't have bothered if I never went again ,thats after being a regular for 55 years

is anybody interested in MDL any more
adonis replied to adonis's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
quite an impresssive list there , makes it all the more dissapointing seeing it , that this particular production line was largely disregarded by the BSPA except for the revenue it collected by way of licenses and registrations . I very much doubt that in another 8 years you will be able to compile such an impressive list -
Unlikely you'll see Long Eaton race again , chairman is now half of the IOW promotion ,and Steve Cook gave up the manager job after more stupidity from the BSPA . Sheffield always had problems with second halves ,a 7.45 start and a strict 10 oclock curfew ,meant that most MDL meetings were cut to 4 races , more than once a main team rider wanted to test something and the meeting was cancelled altogether . good to keep butcher and davies in the shop window and a couple of new faces may show promise , hellowell been around since the beginning of MDL and done nothing ,
-
where have you seen them ?
-
if a few more of the chosen reps have the same attitude this could well be a very useful . however this is speedway and theres always going to be someone who wants to go against the grain . good luck with it though lets hope the BSPA finally listen to the bums on seats that keep speedway going .

problem for me is that the representative is likely to put their view above the view of the rest of the supporters I know one who most definitely would and wouldn't like to be challenged as to why he voiced personal opinion instead of the remit of the supporters he represents , I have always been a little suspicious of anyone who puts themselves forward as a spokesman since it takes some ego to want to be singled out ,

Unfair advantage - starting gates

I dont think thats loomer road . I'm guessing sun street -
what has been holding speedway back about modernising , is good old fashioned greed in the form of gospeed , set up a free app such as has been mentioned ,and it wont take 5 seconds before gospeed appear with their threats of legal action , so to try and improve the raceday experience , you have to pay off people who are greedy and antiquated in their thoughts

i'm afraid it's too late to turn back the clocks now , modern metalurgy and machining capability would mean ,not much effort to make a 2 valve just a revvy and fast , and just as expensive in parts to keep servicing
-
JImmy mac is a machine examiner , making sure people are using round wheels and not square ,tatum ex rider gives his expertise as to how difficult square wheels can be on tight turns
-
I would imagine some of the clubs representatives will be self appointed , that being the case if those peoples ideas and plans are questioned or not wlecomed with open arms ,there will be throwing of toys out of prams ,and more than a little vitriol spat at whoever dare to challenge their superiority , upshot is ,what should be a positive thing will be be destroyed by egos
-
I have always thought it's all about the money , golf Boring , darts boring , snooker boring . all attract large interest , now its not because these things are exciting is it , it's because of the prize money .
-
decades ago it was different promoters who weren't listening , but at least back then you could have said all they are interested in is money , because there was money to be had , can't say that now so there attitude must be it's my money and I'm not being told what to do with it
-
all very well suggestion an independent comissioner ,but who is going to pay them ,? extra quid on the admission ?
