If you were to standadrise engines , the fans on the terraces would definitely notice a difference , just take a look at Moto2 ,standardised engines, and racing that far outstrips Moto GP or F1 -

Semi pro speedway at semi pro admission just would not work , Gospeed and the BSPA would still expect professional fees to run it ,and after they have had their pound of flesh ,there wouldn't be enough left to rent a stadium with , unfortunately no form of motorcycle sport gets funded by local councils sports council etc ,unlike other minority sports , so Leicester Riders can happily play basketball in front of one man and his dog , because they dont have any bills to pay , we are paying them thorugh taxation -
American Dirt track track on the half mile or even mile tracks , is nothing like what you would see here , in the usa dirt track is one of the disciplines for the AMA championship so big names from all motorcylcle sports compete in amercian dirt track ..
-
at least when the whole lot ceases the bikes wont go to waste like speedway bikes will , dirt track is a niche style of customisation of motorcycles in a similar vein to Cafe racers
-
a mate of mine helped Peter Boast start short track uk , made all the number boards and visited various promoters , wound up in kings lynn hospital with broken ribs and a punctured lung after getting run over in the first meeting . never rode short track again ,
-
yep seen the 16 lapper ,and have seen flat track ,short track, oval track , dirt track, track track or whatever it's called this week , the only comparison between the 2 , both go anticlockwise round a speedway track , I saw a round of the European flat track championship in belgium once .even the locals who are not the biggest speedway fans didn't like it ,
-
I dont see how it will . 1st of all nobody in their right mind would pay to watch it . second without the speedway tracks there would be nowhere to run it
-
I think RyMac has had more than enough chances to come good , Douglas maybe not , might be a good thing for some of these kids to get left out if they really want it they will practise and take every other opportunity to ride ,ready for when a chance comes . lets not have anymore Ryan Burtons please , from a non speedway background and had other peoples opportunities thrown at him , then just walked away back to MX like Matt Willamson
-
My guess the local council , fill them up with immigrants . Neither have any worries about the potential losses should they collapse, because it's not THEIR money .
-
Jack the ripper .lol
-
It also gives piss poor and perennial 3.5 point journeymen , the opportunity to take to social media with 5-6 point tallies, claiming they have had some sort of revelation and are the new Tai Woffinden . The reality of course is they have taken the extra points from raw beginners , won't stop their nearest and dearest and one or two hangers on ,from blowing an 1800's style London "pea souper" up their arses though . neither will it stop the pitiful excuses when some of the raw beginniers start to find their feet and beat them !

and me . or james chattin

Those riders who would ride for nothing are driven by ambition not by financial gain , there must be quite a few riders with great potential who have walked away because their face didn't fit , some of the people on the inside of speedway are downright vindictive ,
-
I know 1 who would have ridden for nothing ,given the opportunity way back
-
couldn't agree more . I assume Shelby has taken over Pauls pay to race agreement
-
He's busy ATM , having new boxes made with Briggo on them , to fit a Nippondenso rev limiter into
-
the lights went out after the crash . and he hit the fence where there was no airbag
-
Only time will tell . I dont really expect them to be in use much longer than april 2020 , first time somebody crashes because the limiter kicks in mid turn , or the misfiring leads to bore wash ,or worse still hydraulic lock that smashes the conrod , these things are history . lets just hope when the crash happens nobody gets seriously hurt . IMO theres no comparison between speedway and any other form of motorcycle racing . reducing the revs at the start will lead to problems of flipping people off as well ,
-
there is a rule that ignition must be from a single source and static , rev limiter could fall into that category , about 3 years back Martin smolinski had a Polish button fitted , (advances the ignition ) and Holder and another whining aussie reported him for cheating , several of the Poles had been using them for a while unnoticed ,remember those blasts around the fence from Gollob and everybody wondering where the extra speed came from !!
-
very much doubt it , rev limiters work ok with petrol and on tarmac , methanol is whole different ball game , and riding on a loose surface where a consistent level of spin means you can safely steer . how many times have you seen riders with the front wheel off the floor mid turn , yanking on the throttle to get the back wheel spinning and the front wheel back down , try doing that when a rev limiter kicks in !!
-
tuners of course ,££££££££££££££££,. care to name any riders Or in fact any ex riders who are in favour ?
-
the best way to limit revs is with your right hand , if you get that right you become a great rider like hans neilsen , I saw him break a couple of track records never heard his engines screaming for mercy at any time though . on the slick or knee deep in dirt
-
so were positive cutouts . solid block tyres and carb throat restrictors . how long did any of those compulsory items last ? . I'm guessing from your eagerness to promote them ,Briggs is involved somewwhere along the way ,
-
Just the same as the positive killswitch , solid block tyres , carb restrictors , foisted on the riders untested ,by people who don't have a clue about the effect , all things brought about with little or no thought , and all things that got dumped after somebody else had the expense of buying them , I forgot to say , the GP riders don't bother testing them because they have no intention of ever using them .
