speedway needs to get the feel good factor back , the feeling it had way back when ,it needs people talking about it ,it needs the teraces full but your not going to get that by charging £16+ to watch a league meeting .if you listen to terry russell all is well and you can charge that and people will pay but in the real world where you and i live its just too expensive but also it needs a damm good shake up from the top to the bottom because its bordering on taking the p**s at the moment ,i love world speedway but british speedway is suffering and its time to change .when a rider gets his british licence he has to tick a box to say that if called he will ride in the british final etc , there should be another box saying apart from world championship events they have to put british speedway first and not miss a match for another country ,if they dont tick the box they dont ride here simple , it may sound harsh but without the paying public there is no speedway and it the paying public which really matter and they are being short changed, they are the be all and end all .over the years the scb/bspa/fim have introduced some stupid expensive ideas which have done nothing for the sport but have cost riders more money .ie enviro mats £50 per bike ,stupid idea ,speedway bikes drop very little oil anyway and if they did where the hell does oil come from anyway ? and we dont want to drop a bit of oil where the day before a stock car has dropped the contents of it sump , dirt deflectors £200 per bike ,still the biggest rip off in speedway ever , do nothing to stop flying shale ( phillip rising can suck up to his buddy barry all he likes but they dont work and given the choice they would be gone forever ), silencers £200 per bike ,a joke + a heat shield £80 to stop riders getting burnt by the previous mistake , you couldnt make it up could you , just a couple of needless things and ive saved a rider over £500 per bike , , licences over £70 for a british licence (where does the money go )? on top of £30 for an ACU one ,im sure they dont need to be that expensive ,all these things should be disscussed every year in meetings between riders and bspa to find ways forward without putting up expenses all the time , some of the mechanics are on really good money ,they do work hard but they are being paid what speedway cant afford to pay , vans ,living expenses, maybe its time to end the proffessional rider ,there are a couple in the national league for god sake , there are savings to be made on all sides ,its going to be bloody painfull in the short term but surely worth it in the long term ,surely it would be easier to attract new fans to a cheaper simpler sport that a expensive badly run one and thats where we are today . and then you get nights like somerset tonight just to drive the points home

riders deserve every penny they can get ,i know i was one but i also know that the money just isnt there in the sport and something has got to give but nobody is trying to do anything about it. a couple of years ago 1 rider practically bankrupted the premier league club he rode for and he was only a reserve for them .it wasnt the points money he was on although he was on a good deal for the premier league it was the extras he was getting paid. ie flights ,mechanic ,etc. i dont blame the rider or the club but these things need to be addressed ,its just getting worse and untill ways are found to get the crowds back watching british speedway they have got to stop. but where are the meetings between the bspa and the riders to find a way forward?.. i wont hold my breath
-
and that is exactly the mindset that currently runs speedway .it has to change
-
no flak from me .speedway has plenty of issues to deal with but its too expensive ,its a £10 sport but how you achieve that is a task for somebody with a bit of out the box thinking and that excludes anybody currently running the sport

Who Is The Oldest Rider Still Racing In The Uk
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to alarmo's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
i have heard a rumour that might be happening.lol -
this was proposed by the SRA about 5 years ago with jaaon crump fully behind the idea but to say some of the promotors responce was not favorable would be an understatement. a couple of them bordered on pig headed but then again the bspa showed at that meeting that they coulsnt care less what riders think

I was giving some thought about the speedway v stockcar debate. Up till about 20 years ago speedway was a sort of common mans grass roots type of sport like stocks. By that i mean the bikes were pretty much basic machines and to compete you didnt need a rocket ship .no really fancy gadgets and maybe this is what appealled to the fans. Modern speedway seems to be trying to be a F1 type of sport rather than stockcars. nothing wrong with F1 if thats your thing but F1 is about money and speedway dosent have it. so maybe we should be looking to make speedway more like stocks .make it less of a proffessonal sport more grass roots. This is just a thought not the answer

Who banned tyson nelson from riding on monday?. He was there ready to ride ,the bspa should of said in the intrest of the paying public we are going to overule the FIM . But it wont cause it has no thought for the fans. The FIM dont care about domestic speedway or the people who watch it .yes the problems are closer to home but the FIM do british speedway no favours. Rye house should of got confermation of the situation but common sense should of told anyone that he was there ready to ride and he should of been allowed to . Unfortunatly speedway dosent do common sense
-
Unless britain speedway starts to look after its fans the national league will be all we will be left with anyway .how many were at rye last night and of those who went how many felt cheated by a 5 man team leading to 3 rider races. This should not happen in a proffessional sport and if it carrys on the FIM and the bspa are not going to have a sport to govern.
-
And because of said penalty the paying british speedway fans have to suffer .its not good enough, they can sit and debate the rights and wrongs in the winter but in the meantime the bspa should ensure that the paying public gets the best product that british speedway can deliver and the FIM dont agree the can shove their silencers up there backsides
-
Showing that the FIM dont give a damm about british speedway and the people who pay to watch it. Whatever the rights and wrongs about nelsons visa. He was at rye house ready to ride for his team and it should be up to the BSpa to ensure that BRITISH speedway fans are looked after in BRITISH speedway .end of story

Tai Woffinden
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to David Haddock's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think tai should be kicked out of the gp. I backed him each way last night. Anywhere but last in the final and i would of got £200. Gutted lol. Well done tai -
My first visitor as a spectator to leiester tonight. Got to say what a clean and tidy fabulous facility it is .everything about the place is spot on .nice touch to interview the riders in the middle of the supporters at end of meeting. It was well run and even the car park attendant said goodnight to us on the way out . (i could name one track where you would be lucky to not get insulted on your way out). The little things do matter and i think leicester do a grand job

Cant Bspa Organize Woman Speedway Race?
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to coban78's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
it would only be a matter of time before one of the current promotors got in someone who is a man but was a women before the op ,stating that their mother was a women or lived in scotland in a past life or another lame excuse similar to the crap they come up with now to get round the rules which they make but cant stick to and just for the record jessica lamb was not really that bad and did score some points at reserve for plymouth -
