If something is in South Staffs then how could it be "jointly with Wolverhampton" unless the site borders both
South Staffs AFAIK has never had a speedway track and it must be doubtful if they'd be in favour
There's no reason whatsoever the consortium would buy assets unless there's some prospect of speedway somewhere in the next couple of years.
Presumably Chapman will allow them to make initial enquiries on behalf of Peterborough speedway to land owners without payment for the Rights/Licence with a detailed agreement in place if they find something
Good summary, the speed of the planning for Dunstall is remarkable
They could conceivably start building today provided there are no relevant reserved matters
I think it's probably more a case of the consortium not sure of what they are buying. They could end up paying money for something which never trades again and has no resale value.
As you say there's a complicated nominal payment now with multiple overage clauses within certain time frames agreement to be done but very difficult to negotiate
It is but how long are they going to keep trying?
Losing serious money every year is no good for him and no good for the sport.
I hate to see good people losing bundles to put on speedway fixtures
Great Post, I'm from Ettingshall originally and the sound of the bikes on a Friday night got me intruiged, my Dad agreed to take me as "they've got a bloke called Ole Olsen who is pretty good apparently..."
I was hooked, great times, good friends made
It's certainly in the "right" area being the industrial bit by the Football ground. I think the track is very small though so not sure what size track you could get inside it, maybe something Plymouth sized?
It's a "wolves at heart" team or such like not past Wolves as such
I'd guess at Harris, Nicholls (although he may replace Masters) Thorsell, Howarth, Kerr/Brennan Kileen, Clegg
Indeed, a friend of mine was involved in Gornal at the time, he said "you know about speedway dont you? Have a look at these" i've still got the drawings of the proposed stadium somewhere.
I agree it's madness, all this had been tried at PB before, what's the difference this time?
I hate seeing people lose huge sums of money putting on speedway
I seriously doubt anyone would get permission from the BSPL to operate a team within a reasonable distance of Peterborough without coming to an agreement with the current owner
