Lanning in the star says OB costs can be up to 40k per meeting Not difficult to see where the problem lies
-
Big as in they pay the sport rather than the other way round?
-
It would have to be backed by someone. I wonder if Eastie might be another with a similar Northampton type deal...
-
As a generic indicator it might be ok but it's an odd medium to pick to gauge it. Without some indication of intended league and race night it's going to be pretty meaningless.
-
So a "good" offer was turned down and no tv contract was entered in to for this season. Doesn't quite add up that The ongoing question for any terrestrial or indeed cable tv channel is who is it envisaged will pay the production costs? 1. The BSPL 2.The tv channel 3. A combination of the above
-
Where is the money coming from then for this expanded league with better riders?
-
Who are the consortium?
-
Premier Sports most likely I'd say, when (if) they work out who would be paying the production costs
-
The only way I could see it working based on Wood's comments is if the BSPL needed another PL track then a Northampton type arrangement might work if the likes of Busty are involved. Of course at this moment the BSPL don't need another PL track but who knows who may or may not run next season....
-
These independent people don't exist and if they did they'd want paying and that's where the idea would hit the blocks
-
Rent upfront for a season is likely to be not insignificant plus infrastructure costs as you've mentioned plus the knowledge that your pretty certain to lose money once the turnstiles open... they won't be queueing up to take this on I suspect

Workington v Redcar 29/08/26 3 pm Championship.

Any idea when the restaging might be? -
Interesting interview with Deane Wood in the Star. Northampton only happened because Buster was involved and they have a level of trust It would depend who the prospective promoters of Eastie would be but they'd have to come up with the money and put the money up.front. He also says he thinks it would lose money but we all know that anyway

Just checked 10 days ago
-
So why advertise the fixture as 6pm all the way through the season until last week?
-
Depends if the lease he has signed allows him to sublet
-
And Poole where they are the leaseholders
-
I'd imagine as well as the viewing figures anything going forward will depend on how the production costs are going to be paid. I doubt we will find out but it would be interesting to know who paid Saturdays costs
-
Redcar match now 3pm instead of 6 so no good for me as AFC Workington v Leek kicks off at 3pm. I told a few people that you could do a football/speedway double header as well.... Luckily I hadn't booked my hotel as the club hadn't replied to my message about the start time... Just shows you can't rely on a published fixture list these days when travelling any distance Maybe next season..

Bomba Harris?
-
He's moving back to Aus isn't he? If he's interested he can get involved in the speedway scene down there like Darcy. I'm sure he'd be welcomed with open arms
-
This is great news, I wonder who is paying the broadcast costs but either way it's a great opportunity to get a terrestial broadcaster interested

Premiership 2027 - Are You Interested??

Less meetings probably means higher rents though I'd expect. You do wonder where a tv deal (that actually pays proper money not the other way round) and sponsorship might come from. Maybe Coleman has some ideas on this -
We were talking about potential replacements last night Charles Wright and Jeppesen were the best we could come up with unless the Polish connection can produce someone

It's madness. Perhaps the remaining 12 should go it alone on that basis
