  1. I'd imagine that the issue is that the testing has to be carried out by a company that is accredited to one of the doping agencies (whichever one speedway uses or decides to use) so that's probably charged out at commercial rates rather than being able to use the track doc/Bert on the pit gate etc Your suggestion is much better than testing every single rider in every meeting but I'd say random testing at every meeting is probably still out of reach cost wise but certainly worth the BSPL investigating
  2. 1 person to test 14 riders? That'd be fun, you keeping them in a locked room? You'd need several people all accredited drug testers then the ability to log and deal with all the samples. Multiply that by every single meeting held in the UK and it's a huge expense
  3. Having multiple testers at every single meeting staged in the UK would be a huge commitment by the sport. This would be administered by a 3rd party agency as presumably it is now but the costs would be eye watering. You could attempt to place a levy on riders contracts but I'm not sure that would stand up, is there any other professional sport that requires it's participants to pay for testing at every event?
  4. If something is in South Staffs then how could it be "jointly with Wolverhampton" unless the site borders both South Staffs AFAIK has never had a speedway track and it must be doubtful if they'd be in favour
  5. There's no reason whatsoever the consortium would buy assets unless there's some prospect of speedway somewhere in the next couple of years. Presumably Chapman will allow them to make initial enquiries on behalf of Peterborough speedway to land owners without payment for the Rights/Licence with a detailed agreement in place if they find something
  6. Good summary, the speed of the planning for Dunstall is remarkable They could conceivably start building today provided there are no relevant reserved matters
  7. I think it's probably more a case of the consortium not sure of what they are buying. They could end up paying money for something which never trades again and has no resale value. As you say there's a complicated nominal payment now with multiple overage clauses within certain time frames agreement to be done but very difficult to negotiate
  8. They've paid £40m for the site? They must have some serious plans for it
  9. Don't the rights expire after a certain period of inactivity or did I dream that?
  10. The word "buy" is interesting, I do wonder if the consortium are prepared to pay money for anything at this stage.
  11. Absolutely he's given it a good go, not been helped by some poor team building and some bad luck.
  12. It is but how long are they going to keep trying? Losing serious money every year is no good for him and no good for the sport. I hate to see good people losing bundles to put on speedway fixtures
  13. Great Post, I'm from Ettingshall originally and the sound of the bikes on a Friday night got me intruiged, my Dad agreed to take me as "they've got a bloke called Ole Olsen who is pretty good apparently..." I was hooked, great times, good friends made
  14. I was surprised he wasn't interviewed, was he there/did I miss it?
  15. It's certainly in the "right" area being the industrial bit by the Football ground. I think the track is very small though so not sure what size track you could get inside it, maybe something Plymouth sized?
  16. It's a "wolves at heart" team or such like not past Wolves as such I'd guess at Harris, Nicholls (although he may replace Masters) Thorsell, Howarth, Kerr/Brennan Kileen, Clegg
  17. Indeed, a friend of mine was involved in Gornal at the time, he said "you know about speedway dont you? Have a look at these" i've still got the drawings of the proposed stadium somewhere.
  18. How does it appear that the SCB are at fault?
  19. Their suspension is automatically extended to the date of the hearing
  20. Unless they have something specific in mind and have received some encouragement on it then not much
