Depends on how season tickets might work
-
I don't think the likes of Becker or Worrall would make a huge difference, I think there might be a handful of Wolves fans that will attend PB regularly. Someone like Lindgren though would be a game changer, that would probably give Birmingham the best chance of attracting Wolves fans (albeit the team overall will have to be decent, otherwise interest will wain quickly) I'd certainly do a few at PB if he signs whereas it would be 1 or 2 otherwise
-
A higher points limit suggests the strong clubs get stronger, most of the Wolves riders you'd want to sign appear to be going to Leicester Becker would be worth an enquiry and you could get Steve Worrall. Brum are going to need to get some heat leaders from somewhere especially a good no 1, I wish them well with that.

I think depending on team building and admission prices Oxford should make a decent fist of the Premiership. I can't see the championship being well supported though. So people have the money now to go to a meeting once per week which presumably Oxford will be as presumably they'll go for alternate weeks, if they run 2 meetings in the same week that would be madness

Wolves last meeting at Monmore 23rd October
noaksey replied to Spidvej's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
CVS said ages ago the shale was piled up on the car park and he'd got an agreement that the speedway equipment can be stored on site for up to 12 months -
Presumably the Showground have asked for the track and fence to be removed within a certain time frame. Wolves have removed theirs albeit can store stuff at the stadium for 12 months
-
That's him. Still suspended I believe...
-
He'll remain suspended until the fine is paid. Somebody (I can't remember who, a Reading rider maybe) from years ago never paid his and never rode again
-
Tolley's last update (in last week's speedway star) said he hadn't heard from the stadium Until he does there's nothing to say, he can't force them to arrange a meeting
-
Only Belle Vue ride home matches on a Monday now so presumably that wouldn't work
-
It's a bit Bomber Harris here's an announcement about an announcement Certainly got a few worked up anyway
-
I wouldn't automatically assume CVS will accept. Be interesting to see what happens if a site is found
-
It could be that a deal has been finalised with Chapman I guess
-
Presumably Oxford physically can't run on Thursdays but Poole can if they choose to?
-
They won't be able to give any commitment without a written agreement from the stadium I'd imagine as there'd be financial implications if they subsequently withdraw The major issue with waiting is that they can't build a team and anyone decent will have signed elsewhere, he mentions this as a concern in the Star
-
The article says they've been told they have to declare by then so presumably they'll stick to that. Late declaration would be no good to Brum either as anyone decent would be signed up already by other teams and Brum have been in that boat before
-
That makes sense, fingers crossed it's a runner
-
Tolley in the Star has heard nothing from the stadium and admits time is running out now as Brum have to declare at the AGM which is now less than a week away
-
Yes most of the derelict industrial sites are between Monmore and the railway station with virtually zero housing to worry about. Who owns them is another question altogether, it's probably not Wolverhampton Council that's for sure. Presumably a commercially owned site is unlikely to be affordable for Wolves unless it's offered on reduced terms
-
I'd imagine that the issue is that the testing has to be carried out by a company that is accredited to one of the doping agencies (whichever one speedway uses or decides to use) so that's probably charged out at commercial rates rather than being able to use the track doc/Bert on the pit gate etc Your suggestion is much better than testing every single rider in every meeting but I'd say random testing at every meeting is probably still out of reach cost wise but certainly worth the BSPL investigating
-
1 person to test 14 riders? That'd be fun, you keeping them in a locked room? You'd need several people all accredited drug testers then the ability to log and deal with all the samples. Multiply that by every single meeting held in the UK and it's a huge expense
-
Having multiple testers at every single meeting staged in the UK would be a huge commitment by the sport. This would be administered by a 3rd party agency as presumably it is now but the costs would be eye watering. You could attempt to place a levy on riders contracts but I'm not sure that would stand up, is there any other professional sport that requires it's participants to pay for testing at every event?
-
Cheers, good info that

If something is in South Staffs then how could it be "jointly with Wolverhampton" unless the site borders both South Staffs AFAIK has never had a speedway track and it must be doubtful if they'd be in favour
-
There's no reason whatsoever the consortium would buy assets unless there's some prospect of speedway somewhere in the next couple of years. Presumably Chapman will allow them to make initial enquiries on behalf of Peterborough speedway to land owners without payment for the Rights/Licence with a detailed agreement in place if they find something
