  1. He also had a very heavy crash last time he was there.
  2. By the way I was just giving a reason why people stay at home from talking to fans that do. I don't have Sky myself so it doesn't affect me but if I did I would still go to the match and then watch it back later to see all the things I'd missed.
  3. Would you care to explain why? Is it because of a weaker team this season, favourite riders moving on, increased admission or another reason? It's a shame people have stopped going as the youngsters need our support but there seemed to be more Birmingham fans than Storm ones today.
  4. I can't keep up with this. Hope that's the final change now so I can print my programme correctly tomorrow.
  5. I think your forecast of 'knocking it on the head' is right judging by the latest Storm badge. After 2015 I was surprised they ran this season anyway but it's a real shame they don't get better support ~ not surprising though as Coventry fans, like most others, like to see a winning team and this one has been pretty weak all year. Even the racing was not so good today and there seemed to be some strange refereeing decisions. I do have a new favourite rider though ~ Danyon Hume whoever he is. Never heard of him before but his style seemed similar to Chris Harris so that's good enough for me.
  6. Because when people have paid out for Sky they seem to be reluctant to pay again to watch the match when they can save £17/£18, plus petrol money and programme (if they buy one) by sitting at home in comfort.
  7. Says Stefan Nielsen. LEICESTER (from): Josh Auty, Nicolai Klindt, Patrick Hougaard, Ludvig Lindgren, Paul Starke, Aaron Summers, Szymon Wozniak. BUILDBASE BEES (from): Jason Garrity, Chris Harris, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Danny King, Stefan Nielsen, James Sarjeant, Kacper Woryna.
  8. I'm more upset by the fact that I make friends and talk to a lot of people at Leicester and Coventry and one of them could be you. I got into a conversation last time with 2 men next to me at the Lions v Belle Vue match and then thought I'm going to have to stop doing this as it could be Robert72. I think I can rely on Lucy's sixth sense though as I'm sure she'll be able to sniff you out now I've trained her.
  9. That's a relief because me and the dog are going. A new permutation of the old saying 'One man and his dog' being on the almost empty terraces.
  10. I wonder what will happen if the sun is shining? Will they forget all about sun breaks this time? I agree with flagrag anyway. It's just made things worse by starting at 6.30pm. If they were going ahead with the match it should have been at the normal start time to give everyone the chance to get there if they wanted to. Now he's made it too difficult for the majority of Coventry fans to travel so the attendance will be even worse.
  11. Oh for heaven's sake! Just when we get going someone else gets injured.
  12. It's a sign of desperation when you have to like your own post because no-one else does.
  13. Thank you very much. That made the chore of doing my ironing a lot easier.
  14. What I meant was it's been done before by David. Leicester, Poole, Belle Vue have all previously stopped matches going ahead.
  15. Why does it do nothing for Coventry? If his signing will help us win a few matches instead of keep losing of course it's going to do something.......hopefully. Judging by your other comments I'm a bit worried though.
  16. The Mercury making a mistake? Never! I only get it second hand and skim through it but usually notice quite a few errors. The last one I remember was a big article about former Leicester rider Johnny Carpenter who recently died aged 90. The caption on the photo said he was fourth from the right when it actually wasn't him. Don't they have proof readers these days or check any articles before printing. They shouldn't get something like that wrong.
  17. Oooops! What happens now? The sun break might be necessary but why not do the sensible thing and have a start time of 8pm instead of 7.30pm? We went to the Coventry match last season and the match didn't start for 40 minutes waiting for the sun to go down. Probably getting grumpy in my old age but I wouldn't bother going again. I don't know which PL match Sky are filming but I should think the Leicester v Coventry match would be a good prospect. That's if it's on of course, although no word yet of it being postponed. I suppose that's the nearest we're going to get to a compliment. Presume you're not going to mention K.K then?
  18. Do the BSPA have to be involved or can it be re-arranged between the two teams promoters if everyone agrees? I know David changed a fixture when Leicester City had a match.
  19. Well, the last bit doesn't really matter. Ask SCB for instructions on how to ignore it.
  20. I should think he withdrew more to do with the crash he had that night rather than the British Final one, but it's good to know he will be okay to ride tomorrow.
  21. I was on the 4th bend so can't see that far to notice how the rider got a flag. So it was you then, but if they're heavy how did you go on when Lions got a 5-1 as that meant 2 flags. Yes, I agree. Anything that will make the winning rider do a victory lap instead of just turning round and going back to the pits. Perhaps an opposition rider could have a chequered flag. Most fans appreciate visiting riders anyway ~ at Peterborough they politely clap. At Coventry Scott Nicholls, Simon Stead, Joonas Kylmakorpi, still always get a good reception but Hans Andersen doesn't seem too popular strangely enough.
  22. Well, they seemed to manage it okay. I thought it was a good idea and more tracks should do the same thing.
  23. Yes, that still happens. Also another idea I liked was sending the winning rider round on a victory lap with a Lions flag. Perhaps they should try that at Coventry to encourage a bit more interaction with the fans instead of them heading straight back to the pits. Shove a flag in their hand and make them do a lap with it.
  24. Why not? They still have them at Coventry and so they should whoever wins the match. A better idea would be to have the victory parade immediately after the match, whoever has won, but especially if it's the visiting team when their fans are probably wanting to set off home and aren't really interested in Norrie Allan's views or watching the youngsters. I hope they're not going ahead with that stupid idea of one race night thinking it will entice the top riders back. All it will mean is they will have to think of a different excuse not to ride in the UK.
  25. I think you're more likely to find him at Leicester.
