  1. I hope that information isn't for me. All sounds very clever but I'm still using a quill and blue ink to write the riders names down.
  2. And Coventry. It won't work with me though because if all else fails I just print a blank programme and fill the riders names in when I get there.
  3. He has already said it's not to do with the club so he wouldn't be riding for the Bees under protest or lowering his average. Chris is so frustrating as every season he seems to start with new machinery and new staff. When he's riding so well at the end of a season why does he have to change everything and start from scratch? He's been doing this for years.
  4. There was on both counts. Unfortunately Coventry's version of Victor Meldrew has to put a downer on everything. To also say it was poor value for money is ridiculous when apart from the 15 heats of E.L. Speedway there was also a 6 heat MDL match and 3 'Junior' races making a total of 24 races. I really don't know what some people want.
  5. I sometimes wonder if people are watching the same match as me as I enjoyed it too. As for the crowd it was about the same as usual and that's the level it is now. Perhaps if everyone was restricted to the home straight like at Wolverhampton and not strung out all around a stadium that can hold over 12,000 it would look a good crowd.
  6. It was after the meeting talking to Peter on the mike. He said he was fed up with Speedway at the moment, which is perhaps understandable as he's had a pretty rough time of it lately. Then he said he'd "have to have a word with the gaffer because either he goes or I do." No idea if he meant something to do with the BSPA or Coventry.
  7. Well, that didn't last long. I thought you weren't going to moan anymore or is a rant different to a moan? Anyway, on to more important things what's wrong with Chris and who has got to go or he does? I don't know why anyone bothers with Bridger. Doing his usual toddling round at the back tonight, when he stayed on his bike that is.
  8. Quite a lot of fans like to view from the upstairs bar so they're not visible. I'll take my binoculars next time and do a proper count being as the Storm attendances seem to draw a lot of attention.
  9. Beat me to it. Reminds me of that little rhyme schoolchildren learn. '30 days hath.................'
  10. Yes, Sid Hipperson too. There have been quite a few nasty accidents at Blackbird Road. I can't remember the Billy Bales one, but remember bad crashes involving Colin Cook, Tony Davey and Mike Lanham. Thanks for the Fritz Dirtl details. I didn't know he had been killed.
  11. I know this is going to make me sound even more ancient but I can remember a rider named something like Fritz Dirtl (who probably no-one has ever heard of) breaking his back after flipping over onto the concrete bit when the tapes rose during a race at Blackbird Road. This must have been in the early 50's I should think.
  12. Brilliantly summed up. Glad you enjoyed your evening in spite of the cold. I tried to send you a message but it said you couldn't accept any new ones so I'll post it here. Glad you enjoyed last night's match but boy was it cold! If you walked round the stadium twice you probably saw me sitting with a friend at the end of the back straight stand ~ near bend 3. Lucy, my Border Collie, was no doubt asleep. I don't know if you know M......and R..... Pepperdine? They came to the match last season but not this time unfortunately. Perhaps having Lexi (rescue BC) to consider now made them decide not to come. I stood with them at Leicester a few weeks ago and Lexi was okay but still rather nervous.
  13. Same at Coventry for the Storm matches. Although they lost last night to Kings Lynn the racing was really good and that's all I'm interested in. It's just a shame that the majority of Bees fans obviously have a preconceived idea that it's not as good as E.L. so won't even give it a try. Wasting your time telling Starman to read posts carefully as he's been told umpteen times before.
  14. What always confuses me is the number of cars compared to the estimated attendance. Where do the people all go because there certainly looked like more than 100 cars there. Anyway, I enjoyed this match much more than the Cradley one as the racing was so much better. Well done to all the lads and I hope Liam is okay after his spectacular crash. Anyone know why the M69 was shut after junction 1? Just what I needed as I am the World's worst at finding my way around strange places, especially in the dark. I ended up doing a nice tour around Burbage and Hinckley town centre before eventually finding the A47. Thank goodness the mileometer on the car isn't working any more because I really don't want to know how many I did.
  15. I think that happened at the recent Coventry Storm v Cradley match but I must have not been paying attention so missed it and mucked my programme up. Heat 12 Luke Chessell fell whilst leading on the 3rd or 4th lap, remounted and still beat James Purchase. Mind you that wasn't hard as he had been toddling round all night.
  16. Oh yes. He's said it before. It doesn't make any difference that it was over 30 years ago and the closure of Blackbird Road was nothing at all to do with any subsequent promoters at Coventry. Even Charles Ochiltree, the so called guilty person, was part of Midland Sports Stadiums who also owned West Ham so wasn't acting on his own. Sad that someone could still be so bitter and twisted that they'd be happy to see another track shut down.
  17. Perhaps just as well then that only a very small percentage of fans ever come on here and those who don't are still attending matches happily knowing nothing about the whingeing and moaning that goes on.
  18. Could hardly be anything else really being as he was only guesting and already has a PL club. Great performance though and just confirmed Peterborough only needed a good number 1 rider to inspire the team ~ which they have now got after signing Craig Cook. Onwards and upwards.
  19. The only bit that would work is Leicester dropping back to the Premier League. Coventry riding at Leicester would be a disaster, as would running a team in the National League. Sadly not enough fans are interested in watching NL racing and if they can't be bothered to 'go down the road' to Brandon they certainly wouldn't travel to Leicester.
