Chris is so frustrating as every season he seems to start with new machinery and new staff. When he's riding so well at the end of a season why does he have to change everything and start from scratch? He's been doing this for years.

To also say it was poor value for money is ridiculous when apart from the 15 heats of E.L. Speedway there was also a 6 heat MDL match and 3 'Junior' races making a total of 24 races. I sometimes wonder if people are watching the same match as me as I enjoyed it too. As for the crowd it was about the same as usual and that's the level it is now. Perhaps if everyone was restricted to the home straight like at Wolverhampton and not strung out all around a stadium that can hold over 12,000 it would look a good crowd.

I know this is going to make me sound even more ancient but I can remember a rider named something like Fritz Dirtl (who probably no-one has ever heard of) breaking his back after flipping over onto the concrete bit when the tapes rose during a race at Blackbird Road. This must have been in the early 50's I should think.
