Wolverhampton Wolves Vs Poole Pirates 20/07/2015
Gemini replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This just doesn't seem right all this Coventry and Wolves love in lately. Bees fans sympathising with Wolves fans because they're having a bad season and now Beowulf saying 'C'mon the Bees!!' and Shawn 'C'mon the Wolves'. No one, but it's a shame he didn't do this years ago as he was usually the cause of the flack anyway. -
Cov Storm V Brummies Fri 17thjuly
Gemini replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
He learned how to pass 3 riders last night that had started from the gate whereas he was off 15 metres. Pretty impressive how quickly he did it too. Perhaps that's the answer to equal things up a bit ~ give riders like Adam a handicap? -

I thought that was the reason too. Didn't seem to bother him being 15 metres back anyway and it certainly made it one of the more interesting races of the night when the overall match was pretty mediocre, apart from the score. -

And took himself off Facebook as well. Strange him being so anti-social after all these years of winding everybody up. -
I agree with the first bit but I'm not so sure about the second sentence. Once my two were old enough to be left at home they weren't interested in being dragged to speedway matches anymore. I'll have to broach the subject with them of what happens when I'm no longer able to drive myself to meetings. Should be interesting.

Well if I was the Coventry promotion I know how I'd get 'the last laugh'. If Bees get to the Semi Final of the Play-Offs I'd refuse to let any Sky cameras in the place.

Why Do Sky Always Show Race Starts From The Front?
Gemini replied to Sunshinesdad's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I don't have Sky but someone has let me borrow the Peterborough v Glasgow match and I was puzzled why the Peterborough start girls hold the boards upside down? Presumably the other side has the gate positions or is coloured red, blue, white and yellow for the riders position but surely the bit facing the camera should be the right way up? -
Oh come on be fair ~ just child's price not full. Lucy is only 5 so I'd be reluctant to pay £18 for her, especially when she just uses the time to have a good sleep.

Is It Time To Re-introduce Tape Touching?
Gemini replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Completely agree. I've just watched a DVD of the June 26th Coventry v Belle Vue match and it's made me realise just how much messing around still goes on at the starts. No wonder matches take 2 hours to get through. Presumably riders must have a set ritual that they have to go through before they settle but in Bomber's case it seemed to be repeated over and over again. Touch back, touch arm, touch neck, then repeat endlessly. -
Is It Time To Re-introduce Tape Touching?
Gemini replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Depends if it is a man or woman ref. It shouldn't be difficult at all but men can't multi-task can they? Happened at Coventry on Friday during the Bees v Wolves match. Pit gate was opened and Ashley Morris stepped a couple of feet off the track and was excluded. Must admit it has been 99% better at Brandon this year with the new ruling and that's the first time I've seen the gate opened prior to a re-run. Begs the question if that's one way to get a rider from the opposition excluded. -
I know, especially when it's a black dog. It doesn't seem to work that stadiums don't allow dogs due to Greyhound racing because Coventry allow them but have dog racing, yet Leicester don't and only have Speedway. Well, they might do as people keep telling me they've seen dogs at Beaumont Park but trying to find out one way or the other is like trying to find out what happened to Lord Lucan. My email has been ignored so I'll stop at home ~ they've obviously got enough supporters and don''t need any more.

Now that's a good point because I'm sure I've got this thing called 'Dog Separation Anxiety' and wonder if there is a cure for it? I blame Lucy because she sleeps at the side of my bed, sits at the front door waiting when I pack my Speedway bag for Coventry and Peterborough visits, likes to sit on the front passenger seat on the journey so she's next to me. I can't even go to the loo without her bounding up the stairs to accompany me. Bloody dog is a pain in the neck.

I don't either. Poor dogs ~ all those noisy motorbikes, flying shale and children running around. I really don't know how that Border Collie I see at Coventry manages to sleep through it all.

Coventry V Wolves Friday 10th July
Gemini replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Must admit you were right Steve and Wolves are pretty pathetic at the moment. You have my sympathy because we've all been through it. Jacob Thorssell was the one shining light. Heaven knows what's happened to Ricky Wells, Freddie Lindgren and Peter Karlsson who all usually ride the Brandon track well. Looked to be a pretty good attendance so I hope Mick got enough money to pay the Bees big wage bill. -
Coventry V Wolves Friday 10th July
Gemini replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I was thinking that last night after seeing mdmc82's edited post with the team in the correct order. Even Neil has not done them alphabetically this morning. Thank you Neil ~ my £2.50p will go in the bucket for the SRBF tonight. -
Apart from the fact they've got so posh now that they don't allow dogs anymore so have lost some supporters, but of course that doesn't matter at the moment because they're doing okay.

Glad you're back again. I've missed all your lighthearted cheerful posts.

Coventry V Wolves Friday 10th July
Gemini replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If you're being serious I think you're being unduly pessimistic. We're not that good and Wolves have quite a few riders who usually do well at Coventry, not forgetting Josh Bates who got a good score when guesting for us recently. -
Ah....but that's because I've still got it in my 'Treasure Box' along with my Ration Book, I.D. Card, my daughter's belly button plastic thingy when she was born, (bit dried up now after 48 years) son's appendix stitches, (1982) my gallstones (1977) Perhaps I'd better not go on but I'm sure you get the gist.

Thanks SCB as I wouldn't have been able to answer that one. Anything going back more than a few days ~ no chance.
-
I think his best effort was at Coventry when he had two of our riders off at the same time. Billy Janniro didn't seem to like that move.
-
lol. I've always had a sense of justice and fair play. Ove was always booed at Leicester and he looked so sad sitting on his own in the pits I felt sorry for him. I can't believe I even used to look in the pits but obviously I must have done back then.

SCB obviously hasn't hasn't spotted this post yet.
