Have to concur with most of the comments on here , the track was patchy and rutted up quite quickly, and was marbally on the outside and with the number of young tearaway riders on the card it was easy to predict the outcome of the many crashes.... It all played into the hands of kents two smooth riders Ben Morley 15 point max and David Mason a very solid 14+1 from 6 rides..Both teams were weakened,,Mildenhall without Jacobs and Bates at the top end and Kings being without Benji Compton (wrist) and Brandon Freemantle( concussion).... ,It was going Mildenhall,s way and they looked likely winners early on,, Untill Ben and David pulled out all the stops to see the Kings home to 48-40 victory claiming all the points... Of the other Kings Simon Lambert looked really uncomfortable with the track conditions ,,we did not see much of Luke Chessle after his fall ( withdrawn from the meeting ) both the reserves, Luke and Danny did ok in conditions that were difficult for them,..,The meeting did drag on with the ongoing problems and i do hope the Kings will not lose support from the normally brilliant fan base,,I know quite a few left well before the end ,,In my honest opinion the track needs further considerable investment to become a good racing surface... But that would be difficult to achieve during the racing season.

Some good points Whistlegang agree with you on most obserbvasions.. However the track must be taken into consideration it is not easy to make the front from gates 3 and especially 4 ,,Gates 1 and 2 have a huge advantage here, so for any rider to get a max round here with it being also extremely difficult to pass as well ..He would have to get flyers every time ..So for a rider like Benji say, who will usually make one or more not so good starts it may look like he is down on power, but it is the track giving him little chance to improve his position... When he gates he flies round..Agree young Luke Harris has great potential a good style and attacks the bends, i hope they stick with him as the other rider in contention Danny Ayers is a lot older but he too attacks the track in a do or die manner, as you will see when he gets his chance

Good win for Kent Kings on a patchy track, causing a few unecessary falls,,and that unfortunatly did not produce the good racing hoped for, in front of a fair sized enthusiastic crowd ..Our Ben Morley headed the score chart with a fine 12+1 from 5 ..Simon Lambert who looked a bit out of shape on some of the corners but came good with Ben Morley in heat 15 to clinch a decent winning margin of 52-39 Simon scored 10 from 5, David Mason 8+2 and Benji Compton 8 both from 4 and solid ,,Luke Chessel who still has problems staying upright ,a dissapointing 2 from 4, Threw away a win ,,Impressed with both the reserves especially young Luke Harris attacked the track well 5 from 4 and Brandon Freemantle 7+2 from 4 solid... For the visitors Darren Mallet 8 from 5 looked sharp early on till guest partner Ben Wilson took over as the main driving force for Kings Lynn with 10+ 2 from 5 and will be a real force again in this league.. but the strenght in depth they had on paper did not materialise ,despite a great ride from Marc Owen in heat 14 when he showed the potential class he has always had,, May need some financial help to remain really competative if you think you could help in any way he is a really nice lad with lots to offer... So an excellent start for the Kings ,,Next meeting here May bank holiday monday 3 pm

Surprised no one has started a thread on this exciting looking encounter which could go to the wire ,,,What do you think ?

Robert Lambert Mouthing Off In The Star. Oh Dear.
waco replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Lambert has been riding speedway bikes a long time,,riders reach their peak at different ages ,who,s to say he has not already reached his ,or not far from it,,he is good for his age but not that good on some tracks...Im reserving judgement for the time being ..Like any other young brit i hope he makes it But there are no guarantees in Speedway.... -
Hopefully it will be Luke Harris far more potential than Blake,, could be a blessing in disguise for Kings ... I havebeen away on holiday, has anyone got an update on Brandon Freemantle??

Scunthorpe Stags Vs Kent Kings (nl) - Sunday, March 30th
waco replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
Three riders with paid maximums for Kent..Compton 14=1..Morley 13=2 Lambert 10 =2 And Chessel 12=1 Blake 11=4 sound s great, but in reality they were riding against a side that could only be described as a midland developement team...Two clubs with completly different agenders,, admirable as it may seem to give so many rookies an opportunity in one team to gain racing experience .if this was the score line at home what is going to happen to attendences on their travels...At very least they need to go with 3 riders of near to heat leader standard as possible which would still allow them to bring on the 4 best rookies and still maintain some competative riders who could help them progress..As it is, i feel the imbalance is to great for it to work... -
A bit speculative regarding the N.L.R.C. Anything can happen between now and september ...And im not sure which meetings take precedance between the n.l.r.c ,,elite ,premier... any one know??

Good performance from the Kings at the small Plymouth arena,,The top three of Lambert,,Morley and Compton all out classing their opposite numbers Harris looks a find, will the team continue with Dan Blake,,? would be better to continue with the youngster that obviously has much more potential surely, in my opinion . ,Chessel ,Mason and Freemantle will all improve on last nights performances, so things are looking good for a great season ..For the Demons Smart looks like he may well be on his way back to the rider he was a while back putting in some hard challenging rides by the sound of match reports ..Time will tell if the same can be said of Tim Webster, but he is entitled to be a bit rusty after time out of the sport.. The meeting also provided a handy practise for Ben Morley and Brandon Freemantle who return to the track shortly for the under 21 semi final...
-
Good luck to all the riders at Plymouth today hope they all stay safe in this first meeting of the season for them .Kings hopefully can pinch this ,or run it close,...Is Webster the rider he was ? ,,may hold the key to this one...

Dont get carried away with the all the riders voted for Lambert ...not true,, Len and the 2 team managers would have had a vote as well,,You dont need a number one as captain , (Boxall great rider and looked after himself ,say no more , ) you need someone who is going to be there supporting the other riders with advice and machinery when required ,,That my friends is David Mason, He is widely respected as a captain and as a person..Having spent some time in the pits myself, i know this to be true...
-
Interesting observasions on the riding positions Rocket Ben could work well as you say, but i recon they will stick with Chessel at 2 and Mason and Compton at 3 and 4 Morley at 5 and Freemantle at 7 ..Surprised that David Mason is not Captain he is brilliant in that roll highly respected by the riders and would have done a great job.. I personally dont see how they have arrived at this selection of Lambert he will be missing for a number of meetings, Is new to the team and the fans ,dont get it?

Rogue trader thanks for your comments you know more of the current situation at Stoke than i do It does sound bad and these views on here are by posters who have my respect ,,.I was just genrelising on the state of speedway at the moment with the idea that negative comment seldom resolves anything ,,and to give some support to a friend of mine,.. i hope the problems that many are finding at Stoke can be resolved somehow
-
I have no connection with Stoke speedway at all ,But, i find the comments on here by respected posters very sad ..Speedway is dying on its ass in many areas of the country..A promoter puts up their money to run the sport, sure they are not all good guys and the Tatums seem to have many critics.. But how many of you would put up the cash to run a speedway club in the present climate,,if you had it ?? I suspect not many at all,,putting nails in the coffin will speed up the funeral...I know Malcolm well, a good guy, and he is above all an avid supporter of speedway at this level ,I do not feel he can be held responsible for the actions of those who hold the purse strings,, Perhaps he feels he is taking the flack that is mainly directed else where ,I dont know , but i do know he will always do his absolute best for Stoke Speedway and i sincerely hope things go better there this season and that Stoke supporters get behind their team regardless of any personal problems they may have with the promotion...
-
I personally think Adam will benefit greatly from riding against better riders Sure he is still young, but has 2 leagues to ride in ..Those in 3 leagues may find the strain on man and machine may prove too much over a season... Be happy that he has the talent, to be considered too good for the National League ..
-
Of course Main Man this thread has a strong midlands bias which i suppose is understandable in a way so many of the clubs in the league coming from that area...
-
David Mason i suppose is the obvious choice for captain,,especially with Simon and Ben missing for several meetings riding for their other clubs ,,only other choice would be Benji Compton,,
-
Leicester are obviously trying to gauge the support they might get for national league racing,,,personally i hope it all goes well, and they can then think seriously about entering a team for the national league in 2015,,,.. this can only be a good move if their fans get behind it with strong support...
-
Parsloes my guess is JACK KINGSTON AND DAN BLAKE ?. Ive been through the list but i have no idea really..??
-
Gone quiet on here,,,Gustix,s fault he could be having trouble with his laptop again... Been looking at the strenghts of all the teams, and touch wood we have a virtually injury free season ,i see no reason why we will not be challenging for honours.. come september...

Which Rider Have You Never Taken To?
waco replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Ivan Mauger would have won nothing under todays tape starting rules...The master of movement at the start... -
Dates should not be a problem for Devon..they are only going to need this one then they will be out ...No Problem at all
