  1. Made me laugh Shadders your right of course,, but what was i supposed to call them old men,or ageing lads ,,or maybe big girls,,Jesus what you get picked up on ... I would suggest to Adam Shepherd that slagging off the promotion on his web site is not the way to get future rides at Kent.... but improving performance would be.. There is no obligation to use a no 8 and the management probably wanted to ensure their regular team members had a good pay day to help maintain their bikes...
  2. Result as expected Kent 69,,Scunny 23 ..Crowd though not great was better than expected as was some of the racing Danny Ayres of 15 meters passed everyone to win heat two, and later looked very quick,, he was worth the admission money alone ..His massive improvement in both in pace a and steadiness was the highlight of the meeting for me... I predict that with decent machinery he wiill make a number one at this level next season The lads in the main body of the team were faultless,,as they say you can only beat what,s put in front of you Jason Garrad is still learning as was reflected in his score... As for those clamouring for Shepherd to ride in the meeting,, he had 3 opportunities to ride in the second half and pulled up a mile behind another lad think his name was Cousins not sure ? who looked a far better prospect,, then Shepherd failed to appear for his other two opportunities... For the Stags Aaron Mogridge was worth more points than he got and was the pick of the visitors and has come on a lot since i last saw him ,,Think we have Buxton next week expect another big win from the boys who all had a big confidence boost tonight,,,..
  3. The Kent top five will have slipped up somewhere if they dont all get paid max,s at least ,,against what is basicly a team of 3 pointers +one 4 pointer..having said that there are one or two potential improvers in the Scunthorpe line up and this could be the day they step up and surprise us .. However for those who like to watch runaway home victorys this should be right up your street,,Personally despite the admirable reasons for putting out teams like Scunthorpe have ( ie bringing on a team full of rookies ) ,,I personally think it damages the business of the other promotions in that league and contributes to false averages of riders riding against them,,Hopefully the awfull weather will not intervene again...,I believe Simon Lambert will still be out injured and the likely hood of R/R will be used....
  4. Now this one should have been postponed earlier in the day as all the forcasts were for heavy rain in the evening,,,would have saved a lot of time and exspence for all .......
  5. Agree with Brice the management will be gauging the support for this meeting to see if it is viable to run national league team here next season If you havent seen national league racing before it can be very entertaining ..Think ? there could be racing every week at Arena next season if this is sucsessfull tonight...
  6. So what those who think every thing is fair, are saying is that all teams start on a level playing field..Dispite the fact that some teams pay considerably more to their riders and therefore attract all the best improvers...And others who stick to the pay rate and struggle to put out a competitive side .in my opinion teams should be allowed to strengthen to within at least a couple of points of the team with the highest combined average at the end of each month during the season to keep the league competitive At the moment the difference between the top team and the bottom team is about 30 points how does that produce good racing
  7. The rules are an ass......., Cradley can have 4 riders over 8 point averages 2 of them over 10,,two reserve s one on a 6+,the other on a 5+ ave But Stoke cant have Ben Wilson doubling down,,Here at Kent we have had to drop Chessle to bring Compton back in after injury to comply with the points limit,,,so what im saying is no team can strenghten up ,,but its all right for Cradley to continue with what is virtually a Premier league side ..... Then there is Scunthorpe with a team of 3 pointer s doing real damage to other clubs gates when they visit .. The League s becoming a total nonsense..There rant over....
  8. Agree 100% with Mike Butler ,,The ref was the main cause of the meeting not being completed,, how many more punters do the club lose because of this,,,,,. in these cases he should be fined as he is harming the clubs business by incompetence... And mondays excuses dont stand up the meeting could and should have been completed ..
  9. Some farcical stuff tonight Did the ref have any idea we are on a tight curfew seemed to think we had all day and took an age to put the two minutes on nearly every race,,sure there were some stoppages, but there is no doubt the meeting could have been completed had the ref been more urgent ,,,and that decision excluding Garrad after Danny Ayers had wiped him out,,,he needs glasses as well... Still if you had told me before the meeting we would hold this power house out fit to 4 points,,well id take that ..I am so pi__ed off with this shambles of a meeting i wont discuss it further ,I dont like seeing the public short changed like this ,,,could have lost a few more tonight...... Meeting abandoned after heat 14 due to curfew ,,,,Kent 37 Cradley 41
  10. Likely to go with RR ,,, a guest under Mason,s average would be risky ,,at least Lambo,,Benji and Baseby can take rides Lets hope Danny,s improvement continues as hes likely to get the last RR
  11. With good guests booked Cradley still look a formidable outfit, and all the Kings will need to be scoring well to hold them,,,If Mason and Compton are indeed back at least we will have our full side out ,,if not i fear the worst, Should be a good meeting to watch with a lot of good riders on show..
  12. I would guess that Mr Cearns is happy with the status quo There for i dont see any change in the promotion set up,, So you are entitled to your opinion, but it will not change anything... Thanks for pointing out my name spelling mistake i tend to do that wrong every time... Whistle Gang ,all riders have below par meetings and there is of course usually a reason for it which i have explained in a previous post t ,,but such matters are kept in house ,ie,Pit crew ,,family... It is also a fact that most riders are better on some tracks than others and these things need ,to be taken into account when making judgements on any riders form , i am not refering here to any one rider but genralising,..Thank you for your support of all the Kent team
  13. Your absolute right to criticise who you like, A J is king ..however i ask the question what good does it do,,others previously involved with the club had simular views they have now departed..What ever you think of Len Silver i doubt there would have been any speedway at central park. without him... Name others with the financial clout and expertise that would be willing to run a speedway club in the present financial climate.. If Mr Cairnes was willing to run the club on his own,, ive no doubt he could do so ..Be carefull what you wish for ...
  14. Negativity is seldom a good thing ,,it is as the word implies negative...
  15. A short time ago it was Simon taking all the flack now its Ben Who is next ? All riders go through difficult times when they are not at their best and there are many reasons.,.bike problems . Worrying where they are going to find the money for repairs and parts,,,,,not feeling to well but still trying to do their best,?, carrying a small injury ? Tiredness through long distance travelling several times a week to meetings,,combined with a full time job,,, these facts are seldom known to the average fan ,,they should try doing what these lads do,,, it aint easy ... So have a thought , how would you feel, they are not machines...
  16. One of those nights im afraid already without Mason (illness) non arrival of Danny Ayers for what ever reason.. Benji not yet fully dialled in after lay off.. Ben Morley blew his first engine .Battling display though from Simon Lambert his efforts paid off with a 15 from 6 inc a tactical ride,, and he captured the Bronze helmet from the impressive Josh Bates,,, Which just beat the curfew .. While not at their best ,there were spirited efforts from Morley ,,Basby ,, Compton and young Harris ,but the visitors were on fire and the result was never in doubt... Guest Ben Wilson top scored with a trap to line 15 point max ..And young Josh Bates was entertaining with his hard riding style 11+1... result..Kent 36 Mildenhall 56..The one redeeming fact was that this was not a league match, but the National trophy comp more or less a fixture filler in my opinion The crowd was slightly up on last week i would guess ,,and the track rode pretty good ,,well the visitors seemed to like it..
  17. All the lads need to step up to the plate today ,with a couple of exceptions the most recent away performances are depressing to say the least..
  18. With Lambert absent yet again..( begs the question why he was made captain , instead of Mason a natural in the job) the Kings have little chance at Stoke who already carry a 10 point advantage into this leg ..All the boys can do is their best and have pride in performance and put on a show for the fans....
  19. Best meeting at central park in two seasons ,,the stay aways missed a cracker,,,.Draw was a fair result,, Close racing with some round the boards passes from man of the match Young Stars Marc Owen ..A number Ones performance from Ben Morley 14+1 having had his engines tuned this week made the difference, and now holder of the Bronze helmet which he will have to defend at Stoke on sat , well done... David Mason 12 points And Aaron Baseby 9 both were solid all meeting,,Luke Chessel 5+1 finally came good in heat 14 holding the impressive Marc Owen to win the race but his lack of consistancy could see him being the one to make way for Benji Compton on his anticipated return soon unless we can drop a reserve to fit him in. seems unlikely..After a good start byJason Garrad winning heat 2 the reserves struggled a bit as expected ,,, Marcs perfomance round here today proved you can pass round here if you have the bottle to go for it and he was rewarded with a crack at the Bronze helmet Bens superior gating just seeing him home in an exciting encounter ,,Topping off a great meeting
  20. Simon Lamberts average has dropped dramatically recently ,,although he is back on song now ,it may have been difficult to get a guest under that low average that would have been worth while,,its a no win situation im afraid,, no way can we get anywhere near the points he would probably scored..,
  21. Day of the meeting and thread not started on here, is the interest on the wane ? No Simon Lambert riding for Birmingham at Belle vue so this is going to be that much harder for the Kent side, have not heard yet if we have a guest or using r/r ?? any one know ? We will need all the team firing on all cylinders to get a result... Added attraction today is the Bronze helmet match race between the two top rated riders on the day,, one from each side
  22. Blooding inexperienced riders for the future rider base of the team may sound a good idea in theory ,,but not if the fan base disappears because the team has little chance of challenging for honours,, because every team needs at least one strong reserve to be successful ... Having said that Danny Ayers is improving and i think he will make a decent rider given enough time,,, and if he was riding along side a strong reserve we would be okay in that department.. But that is not the case..... Garrad is even less proficient at the present time on what we have seen, although it is to early to pass judgement on the rider,,It is not to early to pass judgement on the teams current prospects
  23. Whistle gang there are people missing some weeks for various reasons ..the first bend is the most important and there is usually two of us there ,,Perks ? there is free admission and programme,,no payments.. this is the norm at virtually all tracks
  24. Have to agree with Greyhound p on his assessment,, except though Lambert looks back to his best since leaving Rye House,..,Garrad i feel should have had some second half rides against Harris before being considered for the team , then maybe they would have left things as they were.. Better by far to have bought Adam Kirby back in,, judging by todays excellent showing,,...Not a lot of good things to say about Kings performance other than ,Danny Ayers continues to improve and stayed upright today, Kings, beaten by a far better team on the day.... Benji Compton could be back in a couple of weeks ,,who will make way at this stage your guess is as good as mine...Even that will not make us play off contenders in my opinion... Nice to meet up with old pal Malcolm Vasey who must be over the moon with the way his Stoke team rode here, on this showing a good bet for the play off,s
  25. The Whistle gang,,, with reference to your remarks about track rakers,,Half of the yellow jacket brigade are first aiders and not required to do raking so you may be refering to them,,,i myself am on the first bend and after heat 4 rake virtually every race as is the case with other flag marshalls it is hard work and we have limited time between most races so obviously can not cover the whole bend each time.... Hope this explains things...
