  1. Islander 15 i have seen Adam Shepherd many times this season usually went out in second halves with another lad called Cousins who always beat him half a lap when he did decide to come to the tapes,..Seldom came out for his second ride and kept every one waiting and drove us staff mad with his messing about..If he makes a decent rider il eat my hat....
  2. Excellent meeting to end the season plenty of action as you would expect with Danny Ayers and Jack Kingston in the same meeting ,both rode brilliantly all night ..Stand out rider for me was Stefan Nielsen for Lakeside, just back from injury but it did,nt show,, unbeaten until rearing and falling chasing Ben Morley in heat 15..Ben himself had looked down on power until getting his machine dialled in for this ,the last race of a successfull season for the team at the home of the Kent Kings ... Other good performances included Marc Owen for Lakeside,, and Simon Lambert who were both solid,, unfortunately our guests Jon Armstrong and Chris Widman had nights to forget, surprising as both normally go well round Central Park ,and so the Kings went down to a narrow defeat, but a very enjoyable meeting to end our second season ...
  3. Jon Armstrong replaces the injured Benji Compton ..Chris Widman replaces the unavailable Jason Garrad and rider replacement for David Mason...
  4. Weather looks okay for this one today, hopefully.. Have not heard if the line ups have changed at all but the number of guests teams are using in the last few weeks of this season suggest there might be further changes Still chance to get a last speedway fix this year should not be missed..Presentations to the riders in the bar after the meeting...
  5. From the updates site it sounds like the track is positively dangerous ..Where have i heard that before this season about Coventry has someone got to be seriously injured before they do something about it..?
  6. Agree with the above comments programme,s are a rip off ... At Lakeside £3 so i make out a race sheet print off loads ,and fill in the names at the track...Speedway fans can spot a dodgy idea like printing riders in alphabetical order in pre -match publicity to get them to buy a programme at the track a mile off....
  7. Hate to disagree with Whistlegang but i recon it is over score 49-44.. 5 Points not a big enough lead to take up there to Coventry,,Benji Compton and David Mason were way below par tonight and its going to cost us.. Aarron Basby was the best i have seen him all season very quick and 10 from 4 a star man,, God knows why he did not get heat 15 ? .. Although Simon Lambert won heat fifteen from the favoured gate one he took Ben Morley who had been solid with 10 from 4 at that point,, out on bend two, and had only scored 7 from four before heat 15....Now to the best bit Danny Ayers is improving at an astonishing rate of knots,,his re-pass of the quick James Sarjeant in heat 4 was the high light of a swash buckling display of speed and daring, yes he still makes a few mistakes, but has all the attributes to make a really good rider Hope they have him on a water tight contract can see him making the Rye Rockets team some time next season ,, we will see....So it is looking likely the last meeting will be the long awaited challenge against a junior Lakeside team As a footnote the referee Cris Gay did his usuall effort at spoiling the meeting holding the tapes far to long causing numurous tape infringments and possible burnt out clutches,,about time he learned from this,, other wise he is a good referee
  8. On paper this is a very close match up, and should produce some excellent racing..Ollie Greenwood is a force to be recond with round here and a much will depend on how James Sarjeant performs ,can be very good on his day.. With the Kings at full strength i expect a narrow win but a lot will depend how Danny Ayers and Jason Garrad perform against their opposite numbers ..Here,s hoping for a good safe meeting for all the riders and the right result ,we will need a decent lead to take to their place to qualify for the final against who i suspect will be Cradley.....6 -30 pm start
  9. Great thats a result for kent .Coventry should be two good meetings and all to play for...
  10. Thanks for the tip Lucifer Sam,..,Well a great result for Kent who it must be remembered were without Simon Lambert, Excellent Guest in young Josh Bates, and a best ever return round Kings Lynn from Ben Morley 17,, swung it for the kings,,,Credit too ,to our rookie Danny Ayers who continues to thrill the fans with his do or die efforts ..Hoping Cradley may prefer a more local clash with Coventry in the play offs ?? well you never know,,?
  11. I apologise for putting the teams in the wrong order in the post title, being a Kent supporter i by mistake put Kent first ..Thanks for pointing it out Gustix ,your still pretty sharp Im hopeing Kent come first in the meeting though. Maybe if some one from Kings Lynn had bothered to start the thread i could have been spared the embarasment..
  12. Kent travel to Kings Lynn tonight in search of the one point they need to be certain of qualifying for the play offs ,regardless of points from matches with Plymouth being removed from the records,,though this is not certain to happen,...Good luck to all the riders and stay safe...
  13. Replacing Harris with Garrad was a gamble that he would improve faster for this season,Has it paid off? well i recon both would finish the season on a simular average ..Harris is however a lot younger . in the end the decisions are down to Len Silver, and regardless of age both are rookies and open to considerable improvement..
  14. Decent meeting with plenty of passing ,While Kings finally scraped home from 39 all after 13 heats with two 5-1s from Ben Morley and Jason.Garrad heat 14 And Ben and Simon in heat 15 ,, winning 49-41.. i cant help thinking if Leicester had fielded their full side, the result may have been different Johnson,, Greenwood ,,Cockle in particular battled hard for points If you added Oliver Greenwood and Max Clegg they would have been very strong.. Now we wait to see if we qualify for the play off,s A point at Kings Lynn on wendnesday would confirm it,,Otherwise we have to wait and see if the fixtures at Plymouth are exspunged from the records this would go against us,,So hope that does not happen...
  15. Benji Compton moves to no.1 after some big scores against it has to be said weak -ish opposition and will find it harder here at one... Ben Morley and Simon Lambert have also upped their averages and Ben moves to no4 to partner good friend David Mason .Simon stays at no.5...Weather looks great for a competitive meeting against a league select side riding as Leicester... Looking for further improvement from the reserves today ..6-30 PM Start
  16. 9-30 am and not called off yet,, cant believe it wont be ,, pouring down here in essex
  17. Commanding victory against a weakened Buxton team... Nice to see David Mason doing the business away from home For Buxton good showing from Ryan Blacklock .Tomorrows meeting looks like it may fall victim to the weather
  18. I was not there but if the above statements are correct then it does sound like a shambles. Kent will need to do a lot better at Buxton sunday where we have Ben Morley back and Buxton have just lost their best rider Carr to injury, who was not on a high average for guest purposes, ,,so no excuses
  19. All these bed wetters on here,,i dont anymore, so i have some very cheap nappies for sale ,if your interested..
  20. Can not believe only Whistle gang ,Buxton Tiger and myself have actually discussed last nights match ,,All opinions are valid in debates, but dont get involved in personal matters,, you are better off to just ignore posts that you dont agree with, and just post your opinion on the subject matter being discussed.. In this case the match between Kent and Buxton. So come on guys if you were at the match last night what did you think, we want to hear what you have to say ?
  21. Good all round performance from the Kings And a spirited display from Buxton who had the quickest rider on show in Liam Carr ,17 points in cluding a 6 point tactical ride , We dont use Adam Sheperd as he is not up to the standard required,,,failed to even make the start line for the second week running for his second half rides says everything ,,Buxton fans probably think we should use him to improve their score .. Kent scorers Ben Morley 15 from 6, Benji Compton 12 from 6 (Failed to make the startline ex in one ) David Mason 9+3 from 5 Arron Basby 8 +3 from 5 Danny Ayers 7+1 from 5 ( continues his improvement despite a slow start to the meeting ) Jason Garrad 6+1 from 4 (had his moments,, still locks up a lot ,, will improve.. ) ..crowd similar to last week but there are plenty of clubs in this league would like this level of support from such enthusiastic fans Dont forget the start is 3pm next mon,, bank holiday
  22. Ben Morley takes his place in the Kent Kings team against Buxton,,with Danny Halsey standing in for him in the Lakeside team at Belle Vue , Doubt if Simon Lambert is back on monday but think his return will be quite soon .Should be pretty straight forward for the KIings,,the expected showers may be a bigger problem .Looking forward to seeing Danny Ayers continue his rapid improvement and big points are possible against this Buxton outfit.....
  23. All tracks present a different challenge to riders,,, , thats why their form varies from track to track ..Obviously track curators are going to prepare a track to suit their own riders and the weaker teams like Buxton need all the help they can get.. I have been to Buxton when its been like a ploughed field, but if thats how they want it..Then tough get on with it ... You should have seen some of the tracks 60 yrs ago most of todays riders would not have got round the first bend...
  24. He would not get in Scunthorpes team ,,,,, He was a distance behind another second halfer and then gave up. did not come out again for further opportunities to impress,, you cant put riders in teams with that attitude and his attitude on his website will get him nowhere ...
