Workington Comets vs Poole Pirates 27th July
Marksman replied to lbw's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Poole are different class to anyone else in the league, give them the trophy now. Comets may still make the play-offs with Glasgow’s defeat last night, but whoever finishes 4th will be whipping boys alongside Scunthorpe. What a find Vinnie Ford is for a mid season replacement, his opposite number at No.7 is where we are massively lacking. Even NL guests until the end of the would be an improvement! Also better riders albeit under 16 on show in the youth Championship. -

Poor guest today, we can’t replace Tate’s points at home I’m afraid -
Funny thing is there was a better Aussie double act reserve pairing pushing Cookies bikes out of the pits tonight
-
Hosepipe ban in Lincolnshire? What a dreadful watch that was, roll on tomorrow at the GT tyres arena
-
Celina is riding tomorrow, not sure where that came from! In other news, 10+1 for Cookie at Leicester tonight. Hopefully he’ll be in for a good weekend too

Could be worse, could have Jye Etheridge! Lambert is probably a 5-6 point rider at best, he's not suddenly going to become an 8 point plus rider in his mid thirties. He was always mostly a 3-4 point rider in a stronger championship from what I remember, he's probably riding to the level he's capable of I would of thought?

Maybe he's agreed a deal with another CL team -

A whooping 13% increase, must be a struggle for them going forward. If there was 450 there last time a 13% increase is about 60. There were at least 60 Comets fans in attendance, so not hard to figure out where the increase came from! -

Yeah thinking that too but as ever the rule book isn't clear. As after Saturday we will have raced 11 CL + 4 BSN series (15) out of 20 Meetings, so would be 75% complete, therefore no changes after this time. That is however if BSN series semi-finals are included it would change. The rulebook just says BSN series! -

The rule book says no changes after 75% of meeting completed which is when the Poole meeting on Saturday is complete. Unless the BSN semi-finals are included in this figure! The post Comets put out on social media doesn’t actually say who the 2 guests are for, so could be interpreted either way… -
Glasgow's situation was totally different Ivacic is on a 6.00 average replacing Starke on a 3.46, You only have to re-declare under the limit when changes are not like for like. I.e average is equal or below to rider they are replacing. Otherwise, nothing stopping a club replacing a rider on a Wednesday, then swapping another on a Thursday.

You are right, but wouldn't be surprised if his situation changes because his Polish league team (Landshut) are rock bottom of the league and only have 2 meetings left (28th July and 3rd August) with no extra play off matches to come. Riss would therefore only have his Oxford PL meetings left, riders always like to be kept busy up as long as they can in a season. Comets have a guaranteed 9 meetings left plus potential for BSN final x2 (unlikely I know) and potential play-off meetings. Can't think of any other available/suitable riders who are already setup in the UK this season, which cuts down on signing-on fees etc.

Why? R/R is probably the best option, 6 of the 9 clubs already riding on Friday. Not much choice between Berwick, Oxford and Plymouth riders
-
R/R for Tate at Edinburgh on Friday. Batch, Antti, Claus plus 1 reserve can all take an extra ride.

Handy for team building purposes in 2025

Redcar Bears vs Poole Pirates 19th July
Marksman replied to lbw's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It is a re-arranged fixture, was originally down as Round 7 on 1st June. Was then cancelled on 22nd June and this is the 3rd restaging. The reason why is probably because it's still a Poland re-staging priority day -
Current cma. 7.36 for away matches, 7.73 at home.
-
Assuming there's no rain offs, after the Poole home meeting on 27th July 75% of fixtures will be complete so there can be no team changes. Assuming this means we don't have to replace Tate as the 28 day facility will run out and an extension can be applied for which you would think would be granted, who knows with the BSPL! Having a guest every meeting makes us stronger than actually signing someone IMO, currently the likes of Howarth, Danny King and Sedgman can all guest at No.2 at Home

Also a great week for Antti, great performance during the week at the SON, on the podium today and was told at the track today he’s signed for Belle Vue to replace Tate.

4.00 average I believe. Would certainly be better than that figure.
