New SGP Format.szkocjasid replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup As a reward for winning the LCQ / finishing top scorer (or 2nd top). As the FIM want to winner to score the most, they'd probably want the finalists to score more than non finalists too. But there's no reason why 20-18-16 the heat results counting wouldn't work imo.

All brilliant points. The promoters should read this at the AGM.

New SGP Format.szkocjasid replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup My biggest issue is the points scoring, if a rider scores 12 points in the heats, why can't he keep those points? If 5 riders tied on 6 points why does one deserve 4 more points than someone who scored the same as him? Wether they have top 8 semi finals or top 10 LCQ's they could simply make the final scoring 20-18-17-16, everyone else gets the points scored during their 5 heats.

Totally agree, riders say you have you pay X amount because that's what bikes cost. But really it should be riders get paid based on how much income clubs get from the gates & sponsors. Clubs willing to run at a loss is bizarre to me. Riders won't like it, but as other have said they used to have to work & ride. Maybe it's best the Champ goes back to what it was like when Workington returned? You could say ideally the Champ is for riders who live & work over here. Prem riders can chase Poland etc.

Just read on the updates Sonny Springer is retiring. Big shame, he certainly had a lot of potential.

These parts make me question a lot of riders who race over here on a visa. Especially thinking how can a Championship second string or reserve be "significantly contributing to the development of speedway at the highest level in the UK" Hopefully the home office don't pay any more attention to Speedway than they already do.

With neither Poole or Oxford having a match on Wednesday, thought that would've been the perfect time for their BSN semi final! How often will both Wednesday clubs have a free Wednesday? Totally understand Oxford not hosting their leg as they were at home in the Prem yesterday, but why couldn't Poole host the first leg? Apart from waiting for Cairns to turn 16, which is a poor excuse for not racing imo. Can see all the finals being raced at the end of the season again, always thought it'd be better to have them spread out.

Did Redcar have a home match on 11th July? I thought they did but can't see anything on the SpeedwayGB website.

Glasgow v Scunthorpe.June 27thszkocjasid replied to Paul Johnson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway The next Friday both clubs are available is 5th September. Given that Glasgow have to arrange this match (both Friday clubs), arrange the ko cup tie with Edinburgh (both Friday clubs) and arrange the BSN semi final against Redcar (both Friday clubs), could end up still racing in late October! Well done to Glasgow for offering a Saturday date, they're probably the one club who willingly change race dates more than any other.

Sheffield Tigers 2025szkocjasid replied to InTheDeepStuff's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League If Sheffield are looking for a temp replacement for Flint, how about Luke Harrison? He is a Steelers rider after all. If Lynn want to keep him, go for Jody Scott instead? While Lynn might prefer to keep swapping their RS, a full-time (albeit temporary) role at Sheffield might suit one of them? When Flint comes back, Lynn could always go back to sharing? Other Steeler's they could give a shot to are Nathan Ablitt or Vinnie Foord?

I don't think clubs wanting to race on a night which brings in the best crowds is picky, just good business sense. If the rest of the league said Mon, Tue or Thurs only, don't think Ford would run next season. Would someone else take over Poole?
-
Has Darryl Ritchings ridden himself out of a team place? When he's replaced at Poole he'll have a 2.35 average. Any team who wants to replace a 2.00 rider will have to be under the limit. Perhaps Darryl should've asked to be dropped after 5 matches? It would be different if he rode all of Poole's 10 matches of course, but signing for 6, instead of putting himself in the shop window, could have done the opposite!

This was the photo with the caption "job done". A he runs a Speedway club, the natural assumption would be Trigger has signed a contract with Birmingham?

Belle Vue were 2 points up after heat 14, an ef for Kurtz or Bewley & Aces still would have won. If (and it's just an if) Rowe got a 5-1 in heat 14, then Lynn would've won had their been an ef for Kurtz or Bewley. That's why I think Lynn made a mistake not making a reserve change in heat 14. If Rowe wasn't fit enough for rides, he shouldn't have taken the guest booking, so wouldn't use that as an excuse.
