  1. And I have tried a number of jewwllers as sponsors of timer without success as of yet
  2. I have never said I dont want a clock. I would welcome it. However, as I have previously posted it needs to be controlled by the ref. I have worked with them at other tracks and it makes life easier as did the second line on the startline that we had a few seasons ago where the rider had to put their front wheel spindal directly above it.
  3. Two seasons ago I remember watch NKI get excluded for 2 mins in the Swedish at his home track that has a countdown clock. The stopwatch on my wrist is for my benefit so I am fair to all riders, A riders knows when they are short on time as they are told by the Start Marshal at Leicester. NKI choose to ignore this and the following instructions including the ref flashing the green light twice. The only person who deprved the paying public of the oppositons main man was the rider.
  4. Well because the rules are different for league racing to the SGP's. 011.1.3 2 Minute Allowance The Referee must indicate the start of a 2 minute allowance by means of a warning horn or bell audible in the pit area together with the flashing amber lights if all of the riders are not in the starting area at the same time this warning shall apply to all riders and can be given only once. Except when the Referee considers that there are valid reasons for delaying the start of an ensuing heat, the interval between the finish of one heat and the start of the next shall not exceed 4 minutes including the 2 minute allowance. If a track has a countdown clock, that can be operated solely by the Referee, then it is compulsory for the clock to be used. Riders must, at the expiry of this time allowance, be on track, under power, proceeding without stopping towards the starting gate. If a rider is at the starting gate with sufficient time remaining of the 1 or 2 minute allowance they are permitted to prepare their starting gate area. They must remain in full, personal control of their motorcycle, have the cut out lanyard attached and with their motorcycle facing the direction of racing
  5. As soon as the yellow 2 minute light goes on I start my stopwatch. At 90 seconds I give the rider in Gate 1 the hurry up. I get more vocal with 15 seconds to go. Once happy with the rider in Gate 1 I move onto the next rider as per the rule book. At this point generally the riders in Gates 3 & 4 roll in at the same time. This is the perfectly simple solution. But when you go away you rarely see a 2 minute clock or a start marshal with a stopwatch.
  6. Or waiting for an opportunity to get a suitable power supply to the infield and then wiring the clock trigger into the refs box. In the interim, rather than youe egg timer lets go for the stopwatch on my wrist.
  7. No, it needs to be wired into the clock on the refs control box so that its controlled by the ref.
  8. A clock is not the issue. Being able to wire it into the refs control panel is the issue. We have the display already.
  9. Gustafsson's at Kings Lynn when he had the team logo on them so didnt have to wear a body colour. Well ahead of this time. Sorry its a dreadful image of the suit.
  10. The price of the ticket is not the issue. The value you get for your ticket is the issue in my opinion. Look how much it is to go to Silverstone this weekend but it will be full, because people think they get value for money.
  11. He will end up at the track closest to his home.
  12. Now I know this is the BSF and people never let fact stand in the way of posting, so I will nip this in the bud by using WEF figures. Average 2023 UK salaey $52278 v $16261 in Poland. Also factory in the money from the local council plus their broadcast deal. Its like prem football. They do not need the ticket revenue to survive.
  13. Just looked at the Weather radar we use at the track and moved the location to Owlerton and no rain forecast until after 2am on Saturday morning.
  14. We are inviting a group per Lions meeting. There was no point in doing it earlier in the season when it was cold. The Syston Scout Group we invited to the Belle Vue meeting & had a great time.
  15. I didnt start watching speedway until 1984, which is bad timing for a kid from Leicester. I dont think I have ever seen the Golden Era or even good times. Certain events boosted clubs in the short term, Henka signing for the Starts in late 91 resulted in me doing the A47 dash on Saturday nights in the Summer for a few seasons. Leicester coming back in 2011 was another event that gave the sport in the midlands a short term boost. I was up at Workington last weekend and their stadium set up is the future in the UK. Brownfield site, out of town centre. Limited perm facilities but enought to make it an enjoyable afternoon. Reminded me a a smaller scale Swedish stadium.
  16. Yes you can pay at the stadium, cash or card, just queue up at the ticket office. In the stadium car park. If its full Tesco's but it has a three or four hour limit. Please check the signs. Decent fodder, in the lap of the gods. Possible the chippybin tbe shopping centre best option, along with Subway.
  17. Well, seeing that Mullard has not started a thread I guess I should... LEICESTER host Belle Vue in a mouth-watering clash of two in-form sides at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park on Thursday (7.30pm). The Watling JCB Lions are in great shape after four wins in their last five matches, including last week’s terrific victory over Ipswich which was a major boost to their play-off prospects. But this is in many ways an even tougher test with the Aces flying high at the top of the Sports Insure Premiership table, having gone six points clear thanks to home and away wins over King’s Lynn in the last week. The Manchester side won at the Adrian Flux Arena without skipper Brady Kurtz, underlining the power throughout their unit, and of course they bring with them British Champion and GP star Dan Bewley, and Kurtz’s fellow Australian star Jaimon Lidsey who is having an excellent season and now holds a heat-leader berth. Both sides are at full strength with the Lions giving a full debut to new Rising Star signing Drew Kemp, who was so impressive as a guest against Ipswich last week. And with memories still fresh of the Aces’ last visit to the East Midlands in April, another thrilling encounter is expected. On that occasion the sides traded the lead before the Lions established a six-point advantage – only to be reeled back in over the closing stages as the match ended 45-45, before the Aces took the extra league point in a Super Heat. Leicester boss Stewart Dickson said: “This is a big meeting and although I wouldn’t say I’m concerned about it, we know it’s going to be very tough. “We remember drawing with them here and then them winning the Super Heat, and we also have to be mindful of how well they’re riding at the moment. “But we are also riding well collectively, and we’re really getting things together around our own track. “Our recent home performances have been excellent and we need to be focused on getting another win, get past Belle Vue, and then we can turn our attentions to a couple of away matches.” A reminder that gates open at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park at 6pm, with the meeting getting underway at 7.30pm. *DAN Thompson, who was released by the Watling JCB Lions upon the signing of Drew Kemp, has now agreed a deal to join Ipswich in the Rising Star position – ironically taking the place of his twin brother Joe. He makes his Witches debut at Sheffield on Thursday. LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Nick Morris, Jake Allen, Drew Kemp. BELLE VUE: Dan Bewley, Tom Brennan, Jaimon Lidsey, Charles Wright, Brady Kurtz, Norick Blodorn, Jake Mulford.
  18. I think both the Russians will be off once they are allowed to ride in other leagues . Until then they will remain "loyal" to the UK.
  19. Not turning up for an FIM meeting is a 28 day ban.
