  1. What was Edbergs excuse for that performance ? He was absolutely awful
  2. It is always going to be a problem when you race on the same night as the Danish league , The Panthers management must have known this when they accepted the fixture
  3. It seems to me that the phrase " in the interests of speedway " covers a lot of bases , what's good for the goose isn't necessarily what's good for the gander when it comes to applying the rules in our sport , as a previous poster mentioned this is just another instance that's shows why the s port needs an independent ruling body , but as we've been waiting since the 60's for that to be established I won't be holding my breathe on it happening anytime soon . On another note I'm slightly surprised and disappointed that promotion have decided not to reduce admission prices for this fixture , in fact a recent newsletter said that there would be " no extra cost " for this match , I didn't realise that it was a policy to increase turnstile prices when a club was on TV . It's been shown in recent matches live on Sky that reducing admission prices helps to boost the crowd levels . I would have thought that this meeting would be a perfect opportunity to target the holidaymakers staying in the Berwick area and maybe a reduction in admission prices would be a good incentive . A free match programme is very commendable but isn't really going to excite any Panthers fans and get them driving up the A1 to Berwick is it ? and the free one for the next home match is only any good if you're a Bandits fan .
  4. This is truly shocking news , another one taken far to early , thoughts and prayers go to all her friends and family. R.I.P.
  5. Reading the remarks on the updates site Hawkins was very poor yesterday at Glasgow
  6. Make the parade 6:50 , tapes up for 1st ht 7pm ( Sharp) that should solve any time issues
  7. Good to see the bikes back on parade , let's hope this is not a one off
  8. Superb action well done to all involved , great win for NP
  9. " Missing Vissing " is probably the way to sum up tonight's meeting , to be down one rider is tough but to be without two is dam near impossible , a big thanks to Richie for his efforts tonight can't be faulted The new guy looked ok after his first heat can only improve the more track time he gets , as for Alex don't know what his problem was but he was poor tonight I expect more at home meeting from him . The Devils where pretty solid throughout their team and will probably be disappointed not to win great to The Fish in great form always been one of my favourite riders .
  10. " Finally The Bandits have come back to Shielfield ", after what seems like an age and to many Saturday night having to put up with crap tv , it will be good to get back to some live action again . This looks like it could be a tricky fixture for Berwick the choice of guest will be very important , lets hope we will see some good racing a Bandits win and all the riders making it through the meeting without any more injuries
  11. Berrington Lough was no worse to get than places like Mildenhall or Eastbourne and there was a bus which ran from Golden Square in the middle of Berwick to the track for those who didn't want to drive or fancied a drink in the social club . One thing I did like about it was that even with a smallish crowd it still looked packed , they had a set up there that most clubs would die for nowadays . One of best memories of " The Lough " was the sight of Marvyn Cox desperately trying to adapt to the tight conditions and failing spectacularly .but without doubt the best night ever had to be winning the KO cup in 1989 defeating those "Dorset Dumplings" in the final .
  12. Arrest at a Speedway meeting . First FIFA now the BSPA !
  13. Cant say I'm expecting much from this match , wins there are rare about as win at Armadale as long as we can get through this meeting without any more injured riders I'll be happy
  14. Decent result last night , but once again its marred by an injury to a rider , also it looks like the engine /clutch gremlins are still troubling Berwick against tougher opposition we might not get away with it . Just when it looks like Berwick have turned the corner and starting to hit a bit of form we're hit with a double whammy of injuries to Claus and to Hynek , and the fact that there's no meetings at Berwick for the next few weeks doesn't help , any momentum that has been gained will be lost , blank race nights for whatever reason are the bane of modern speedway , problem is people get into a regular routine of turning up every week , when its not on they do something else, question is how do you attract them back ? No problem if you're a die hard who's going to come whatever , but if your new to the sport surely you want regular action . Best wishes for a speedy recovery to both of our most recent injury victims
  15. Comets would probably be fined for not completing their fiuxtures
  16. What about his performance on Fri night ? How many opponents did he beat there ?
  17. Does it always rain on a Sunday in Glasgow?
  18. Well anyone who decided to give this meeting a miss and stay at home and watch the SGP would've been disappointed, while GP was another snoozefest this was probably the best meeting I've seen so far this season even if it was bitterly cold again , all the riders in the points , a decent track surface that all the riders could enjoy , plenty overtaking and only 1 last place ( unless you count Bens DX ) , whatever happened during the interval certainly worked , it's usually Berwick who fade in the second half of the meeting but not this week for a change I left Shielfield feeling happy and entertained , hopefully The Bandits can kick on from here and get a few wins under their belts Unfortunately the crowd was disappointing again , short of physically dragging folks in off the street I don't really see how you can attract more folks in , or get the old fans back , if they don't want to come, they won't come no matter how good the burgers are
  19. Why ? He's a Berwick rider isn't he ? some of us do follow our riders performances away from Berwick
  20. Unfortunately like a lot of other sports Speedway has its fair share of numpties who spoil it for the rest, I don't see any reason why alcohol shouldn't be available just because some crackerjack can't keep his gob shut , plenty people (myself included ) enjoy a drink before, during or after a meeting without causing any problems to other customers/ fans , best option would be to ask the the offenders to desist or in an extreme case have them removed . As for tonights meeting it will be another tough one for The Bandits , I think we might just scrape home , I'd expect Kevin and Sticky will score a wee bit more than last nights return .Hopefully the weather will be kind to us for a change and there will be a decent crowd in . As for the SGP on Eurosport after last years meeting I think Shielfield will be a better option
