  1. Only a fag paper in it, great meeting for Dan, decent meeting all round, enjoyed it. Note to self, Don't predict easy heat wins again, ever.
  2. Agreed, although it would do wonders for Dan's confidence if he can beat Dudek again, got the gate advantage but Dudek has found speed compared to that early heat.
  3. He certainly seems to be back on track after such a bad injury, here's hoping GB can reap the benefits and leave the tag of also rans behind, it's about time.
  4. Dan in with a good shout, ht11 looks an easy one, then again, it's speedway. Lacking speed for some reason.
  5. The sooner he is packed off back down under for good the better if this is what he's doing, no consideration for the paying public regardless of whether or not the club are content for him to do it. I've never liked his attitude to speedway anyway, too many times he's moaned about track conditions when others have just gone out and raced, good riddance to him when he's gone. I'd much rather watch the likes of Tom Brennan giving it their all than some lazy Aussie who doesn't give a toss.
  6. Don't be mean, Rob surely knew he was on dodgy ground when he googled broadslide and all it came up with was the option to automatically change it to broadside, or that magazine link. It was broadside when I was a kid and it's never changed.
  7. I've always thought it was a broadside "with the side turned in a particular direction. "the yacht was drifting broadside to the wind" They also showed the score at one point as something like 62-32, this was about half way through the meeting directly after a heat, or were they giving heat times? I only noticed it once.
  8. Well they picked the right venue tonight, Saddlebow looks a right old mess from that brief clip.
  9. So why embarrass yourself with snide comments about other posters? No need fella.
  10. Well said, I followed you on tonight's bet, so thanks for that, nice little earner from a bit of teamwork and co-operation, the bookies get bashed now and again. As for R&R, he does more than anyone on this forum in terms of keeping us all updated on tv matches etc, forever grateful for that. Peace out.
  11. You're on mate, seriously, as soon as it's all back on again. I've been racing for years, never once fell out of my armchair when cornering and that includes the tight tracks like Arlington, scored paid 11 last time I rode at Monmore Green, when in doubt wind it on. Lets ride speedway!!
  12. Soren Sjosten was responsible for this 7 year old genuinely believing I would only need to wait a couple of years and I could become a fully fledged Belle Vue Ace, if someone as diminutive as Soren could do it with such style and success then nothing was going to stop me, nothing! I'm 61 in Feb and I've still never sat astride a running speedway bike, yet I still think I could've been a contender, maybe this will be the year I finally make it to a ride n slide day, if only to put my dreams to bed.
  13. Malcolm Hollyway Emil Sleighfutdinov
  14. Nice gesture, well done on winning the comp, I thought my entry was the winner but you've done me.
  15. Loved the smell from that bakery as we approached the turnstiles.
  16. They did have a blank piece to start but it was still within the confines of what was already in place around it, the track was always going to take precedence and as you know they got that absolutely right. I imagine the rest was down to space available and financial constraints, there is room to upgrade it if ever the need arose but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
  17. Interesting profession, does he do foreigners, or is he not multilingual?
  18. Looking in the pits was also a big part of the experience for me, at Hyde Rd this was possible by looking through the gaps in the floorboards in the stand above the pits. I always loved going to Sheffield because, from hazy memory, you could be very close to the pits pre and post meeting, think they were on the left as we entered the stadium via the road where the bakery was, just a low wall separated you from the riders, like I say, hazy memory. Can't remember which stadium it was but I'm sure I recall a meeting a couple of years ago where the pits were situated the length of the back straight, could've been a made track in Russia or Poland, was it the venue where Hancock launched himself at N Pedersen after an on track spat? Anyway, great suggestion OP, I'll do same with my lottery win that I don't partake in.
  19. Thanks for posting that, more than anything it was great to see some old familiar faces amongst the track staff and supporters, a nice little half hour of nostalgia for any Aces fan of a certain age.
