Makes interesting reading that, thanks for posting it. I have to ask where Chris Morton came in the order, was surprised not to see him mentioned in 80s until I realised there are 4 individual World Champions in there for starters, still considering Billy Sanders and Kenny Carter were only riding for around half of the decade they each must have amassed enough to make the top ten. I suppose Mort's achilles heel would be his Individual World Final performances.

Soren Sjosten was quite a stylish rider, so short in stature that he just went where the bike took him, arms fully extended. I'd have to go with Anders Michanek for the most stylish of that era, notable mention for Simmo, always immaculately turned out and had a nice easy riding style.

Don't think anyone has said it was a poor meeting, far from it, it was exciting, some spectacular passes and you're right about Bartosz, he's on another level to most. The main gripe is the track prep, riders were forced to go out wide virtually all night, even Bart got in trouble at one point when riding mid track, fortunately he has the skill to correct the move and still romped home. As good as it was it wasn't a patch on Monday imo, here's hoping tomorrow is at least as good if not better.

That could and should have been so much better than it was, yes there was excitement but not generated by it being a decent racetrack, quite the opposite imo, poorly prepared and riders were forced to go searching for dirt out by the fence, apart from the odd exception as pointed out. I love watching riders out wide but it was mainly quite processional.

So did I mate, so did I, the rot set in when Lemon put 2 reserves out at the point where we could've built on the start we'd made. From there on in it was one way traffic.
