Of the areas you mention I would go for Stockport, it's nearer to BV than the others, Heaton Moor is ideal if you can find anywhere, will cost less than a tenner in a taxi to the stadium and is decent enough for a drink and a bite to eat, Don't know about availability or budget but this place is logistically perfect, less than 4miles from track. https://www.innkeeperslodge.com/stockport-heaton-chapel/ btw, this isn't trip advisor and I've never stayed there, just in case That is also ideally located for the track, not so much available around it but as you say it's only a mile or so to town.

It doesn't bother me that he wasn't riding in the British Final because, at the moment, the British Final has been reduced to an almost nothing fixture. Ok so you could say he hasn't helped this by not appearing but I think it's down to British Speedway to get it's own house in order before you can expect a World Champion to put extra strain on himself, his schedule and his equipment. Don't get me wrong, I've got some great memories of past Finals, mainly @ Brandon on Wednesday nights, obviously it was a crucial qualifying meeting and had much more meaning but surely if it were marketed well it could get back some of the prestige. As for the topic question, of course he should ride, no doubt whatsoever.

Exactly, I'm fairly sure he wouldn't have done it if he didn't think the crowd would respond accordingly, it seemed like a two-way thing to me watching on tv, loved it. Not quite his namesake but I can remember Ken Eyre always having similar great rapport with the fans at Belle Vue, although I think Ken tended to limit it to a cheeky wave. I don't think he ever broke out of the reserve berth (could be wrong) but it didn't stop him being a real favourite back in the day. As for Barry Ayres, I don't recall him being so outgoing.

You pretty much did p*ss on the PL parade though, "thank God we have EL next week" (or similar). So he/she wasn't exactly putting words in your mouth. Not really, their holes are for diving into rather than through, Great comparison with the Championship v Premiership, much more honesty and graft, no superstars.. The Elite League people could learn so much from whatever Glasgow did to generate that crowd last night, was a real throwback to the halcyon days of the 70's, had me remembering the BLRC's @ Hyde Rd and seeing coachloads of noisy Scots turning up for their annual party. Well done Glasgow promotion, I didn't think there was a lot wrong with the racing either, not sure what some expect to see if they think that was rubbish, Fisher and Garcia were worth the admission price for their efforts and plenty of others gave their all. As for Ayres after ht 2, brilliant, the main stand crowd absolutely loved it and they are the ones shelling out their hard earned, it all added to a decent evening's entertainment.

Another top drawer speedway meeting for the cameras, considering the general lack of enthusiasm for that track it produced some close racing, riders all prepared to get stuck in. Well done Chris Harris, richly deserved rostrum place. Doyle quietly went about his work tonight and had the speed when it counted, well done to him.

Something amiss with his bike I think, seemed to lose power a couple of times.

The more I see him ride and his demeanour when interviewed the more I think he reminds of PC at that age, so unassuming, confident but not cocky, really comes across well. Stream seems fine for me, no buffering, picture quality ok. Fricke or Lambert to win tonight I reckon.

Bit of info for those travelling any distance, "Fans travelling to Belle Vue for tonight's British Final please note that the Mancunian Way (A57) arterial road through the city centre is completely closed today for a carriageway inspection. H&S dictates that people can't move around, otherwise capacities may be exceeded in certain areas which could cause overcrowding issues etc etc. I've always had a wander at most speedway stadia I've been to, it's good to watch from different areas. The grandstand @ NSS is all seated, there's no terracing paddock at the front at all, so I suppose it's understandable that you can't just saunter in there from the other stands. Best spot for me is the west terrace (first bend) but if it rains there is no shelter there.

Hard to call the pass of the night as yet but that one by Zagar showed he has balls of steel, cracking ride. Another great GP!!

I've gone for Zagar e/w @ 14s, he went well in the last GP and seems to be flying in general, well worth a shout imo, here's hoping.

Many great nights for the BLRC and the place was always packed to the rafters, some 25,000 I believe. The British Final was held on a Weds night back then though and Brandon was also rammed every year as I recall. Perhaps next year and for the future it could be given the prestige of a Saturday meeting, also if the NSS is awarded any other big meetings like a gp or whatever they could have the British Final around the same time and get double the use out of the temporary seating they may have installed, keeps the costs down and allows for a proper full house if the interest is there. These things were just pie in the sky until recently but this track and stadium need to be used as often as possible and riders will be queuing up to get a spin round it I'm sure, so here's hoping for a cracking meeting for the final.
