  1. Maybe Jack was on borrowed last night, you're right though, he was flying.
  2. As already pointed out to you, of course good drainage saves meetings, otherwise why have any drainage in the first place. You do say some strange things fella..
  3. If you had been anywhere near Manchester yesterday and had seen the amount of rain that fell you would have been amazed that a meeting was actually started in the first place, the drainage system obviously works well. The deluge that came after ht12 made it potentially dangerous and the right call was made. I'm also fairly sure that if the rain had eased off they would not have had to wait long before they could have resumed racing, unfortunately the heavy rain continued and a call off was inevitable. So, however much more rain Manchester gets than other UK cities will be cancelled out by the excellent drainage system. On racedays when it does rain heavily they will still have chances of running as long as it eases by late afternoon, not many tracks would be able to do this. You're just going to have to accept that Belle Vue being the most famous club in the World, with the proudest history, were always going to be the custodians of the National Speedway Stadium. You should come up and have a look sometime, there's loads of room.
  4. You will love it when you do eventually get over to a meeting there, made for speedway, just like Hyde Rd, any other sport that goes on there takes second place every time. Emil at full bore round that track is a frightening thought, Lagutas too, in fact anyone who is in the mood to wind it on will be worth paying to see, it looks like a track with no limits, can't wait to go again, British Final for me next I think. Hope you get over here to see it soon.
  5. That's the first bend terrace Steve, I was hoping to stand there last night but they didn't open it, perhaps just as well as I would have had a soaking, there's no shelter whatsoever on that section. That said it really appeals to me as a viewing point, right next to the pits and a great view of the whole track, mind you that's true of any point in the stadium I think. I'd say it will only hold a couple of hundred people at most, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with your purchase.
  6. Those knocking Lambert need to give their heads a wobble, he's learning his trade and needs all the support we can give him. My first visit to the new home of the Aces last night, very impressive even though the weather took it's toll in the end. The track was fine early on, even though it had rained on and off all day, but as others have said it will take more meetings for it to produce it's best racing, passing was at an absolute premium during the early heats but you could see riders gaining ground on others by testing different lines, I'm confident it will be a great track for years to come. If the deluge that came after ht12 hadn't occurred I would have expected Lambert to be among the qualifiers, the track was starting to produce passes, just unfortunate to not have been given the 5 rides. Berge was very impressive, can certainly gate well and looked smooth out in front, Jack Holder also looked to be benefiting from having Chris in the pits with him, unsure if he had Chris's bikes but he was fast. Due to the weather it wasn't the best of first visits but definitely enough to ensure I will be going back as and when I can, well done Chris Morton & Dave Gordon.
  7. Righto thanks, things will be much clearer once I've been and seen the place. Weather definitely brightened up Northwich way and the lighter clouds seem to be drifting your way, so that's a positive.
  8. You're not in charge of ticket office are you Rob, as soon as you posted the main website changed to advise exactly what you'd said, spooky.
  9. Thanks Rob, west stand tickets are on offer on the website, although I haven't yet tried to purchase, maybe that's the point they become unavailable. Anyway, as you say the weather looks like being fairly kind from now on. Really looking forward to my first visit now.
  10. Nice one, thanks Phil, think I may leave it for another time then. I take it the other terrace ticket covers the back straight & 3/4th turn then? I'm about 20 miles away in Northwich and it's just started to brighten up following rain for much of the morning, here's hoping..
  11. Bump for this, I see you're about Phil and I'm sure you'll know the answers. Have since seen that I can book tckts for first bend but will I be stuck there for the duration. Considering the weather maybe I'm best going for the undercover option this time.. cheers
  12. Weather forecast looking better from mid morning on tomorrow, so I'm also really fancying having a look at the new place, not attended for about 10 years and am hoping to rediscover all the things I loved about actually going to a meeting. I'd quite like to watch from the first bend terrace, although it would be good to have a wander round, can any of the regulars tell me, if I buy a ticket online is it just a general terrace ticket I want, or can I specify once I start the purchase process? Also, if I do go for the first bend will I have to remain there for the whole meeting, or is there an option to transfer to the back straight? Thanks in advance.
  13. You're right there robert, fans at the actual tracks would probably tell you to bore off and annoy someone else, you wouldn't last 5 minutes. We hear you loud and clear regarding your opinion of the World Champion, your bitterness shines through, now how about giving us all a break fella.
  14. Can't agree with you there Joe, as pointed out tracks almost always differ from practice to meeting, riders constantly refer to it in interviews. If there was anyone British and better than Harris waiting to take the gp berth then fair enough but there isn't anyone just yet. Andy Smith or Stoney were never likely to win it but they were in it on merit as far as I recall. I'd say fair play to Chris Harris for showing commitment to the UK and in true Kevin Keegan style I would love it, just love it if he got on the rostrum both nights.
  15. You're right it would but then that would only encourage you to continue being a lazy git, wouldn't it. tbh it was your pompous attitude that bugged me, "so I ask again", what's that about. Anyway, just this once and only for you, it starts at 19.30 uk time
  16. It's on the bt sport planner you lazy bugger.
  17. Another thread goes west but what I can't understand is how can Sparkafag edit The Mockingjay's posts, post 928 for example?
  18. Good Morning Alan, I'm sure the good elements of this section will prevail, it's a great hang out even though I don't post all the time I'm always lurking and keeping up with events. Stick with it pal. As for Mothers Day, it's not officially today but it's as good a day as any to remember my mum and all she did for me, so thanks for the suggestion mate.
  19. Please take your bile elsewhere, not welcome here at all,
  20. I know what you mean Joe but then again it's always good to have a spin around on the grass in your car without getting in any trouble.
  21. These were your first 2 posts of the day on this thread, so if you weren't implying that the speedway should have gone ahead because the stock cars were running then tell me what you were saying. Obviously your first post quoted above was so completely wide of the mark and just another example of your nasty nature. Do you ever wonder why you get the same treatment on here as you do on the stock car forum? Must be everybody else eh...
  22. You just get worse, it's 12.30 just now, the speedway was due to start half an hour ago, I'm less than 20 miles from the track and rest assured it's tipping down. The stock cars are due to start about 4pm I believe, the forecast is somewhat brighter but, as others have already said, what difference does a bit of rain make to stock cars other than in attendance figures? It's no surprise to read that you also get grief on the stock car forum.
  23. Possibly, but since the council are the customer rather than Belle Vue it's unlikely that BV are gaining anything from any penalty clause. Hopefully they at least aren't having to shell out for the use of the stadium until a meeting takes place. edit, beat me to it Joe, I'm sure it will be the case. Used for what? As already pointed out it will no doubt be the construction company who will be footing the bill. Get back under your stone.
