  1. Why are you shouting? Have a great trip, here's hoping for an Aces triumph.
  2. Agree with that 100%, he did win the points fair & square. Hopefully tonight's meeting will be decided by more than 2 points on aggregate and we can put this to bed, yes it's filled the pages for 2 days but it was just an example of a rider so fired up to get the win for his team that he would have rode that race whatever item of his protective wear had malfunctioned. If the Belle Vue 1-7 show that kind of passion tonight then I'll be happy enough.
  3. That's it then, £500 fine for Newman and all his points wiped from the meeting, surely, anything...
  4. You already gave yourself a pat on the back a couple of pages ago, stop milking it
  5. Wait a minute, did Kelv actually think Garrity had to go 15 metres?
  6. Not World Champions though eh If I were Robert72 I'd be considering sliding away back into oblivion, then perhaps resurfacing in a couple of months with a completely new attitude towards other forum users. Nobody likes a smartarse Robert, fair play to you if you got astride a speedway bike and gave it a go but, let's face it, you didn't really do any more than me or plenty of others would have done if given the opportunity, in fact I'm sure I've seen SCB post that he's had a slide or 2 in the past. Anyway, what do have against Tai, he's clearly upset you at some point.
  7. I backed Belle Vue to win the title before a wheel turned, they were 5/1 and were still @ 5/1 prior to last nights meeting, 13/8 now.
  8. Agreed, I'm 20 miles west of the stadium and we've just had a light shower, hard to tell which way it's travelling. My feeling is that it will be ok, I get headaches when there's a lot of rain about and so far I'm ok, fingers crossed.
  9. No rain due until 23.00 as it stands, so yes it's on, then again we are talking about the Rainy City, so buyer beware..
  10. That's the thing, how old are some of the folk making the idiotic remarks? It becomes embarrassing to read when the majority of members just want to read/post sensible comments. 'Tossiter' is funny once, I mean would you really continue using it in actual conversation, I don't think so. I certainly would not like to be in the company of some on here who appear to be adults apart from their posting style. Anyway, back on topic, here's hoping we get a decent meeting tonight, both teams giving it everything and Belle Vue finishing with a 12+point lead to take to the Abbey.
  11. Not at all, he had every right to give it a go on Saturday, home GP, points needed to try and consolidate a rostrum place come the end of the series. I'd much rather he find out whether or not he's match fit and Saturday night proved he isn't. If he'd discovered that he is below par tonight on the tight BV track it could have cost us dearly.
  12. Is this a quiz? I can't remember what he said, was it about knockers?
  13. I know what you mean, I had a dog like that once, castration was the only answer.
  14. At 17 bigballs had a bright future, his big balls were his ticket to fame & fortune, then along came Buster Gonad (with his infeasibly large testicles) to end the hopes and dreams of bigballs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buster_Gonad This may explain his attitude towards Lambert.
  15. Bit harsh, more like typical Mancunian weather, I'm sure the club did what they could to get the meeting on.
  16. Seemed harsh in Lindback in the final, based on the 2 angles shown I didn't think his back wheel was definitely over the line. Pedersen made a fool of himself with the gesticulating, he was beaten either way, he's showing his true colours again.
  17. What a shame they couldn't work out that the sun would be a problem for tv viewers and placed their cameras more strategically, very poor viewing up to ht 8, hopefully the sun will drop soon and the track will have some much needed work if the meeting is to deliver any decent racing . Be interesting to learn the details of the Gollob situation.
  18. It's been quite some time since I've heard speedway get a mention on 5Live, such a shame it had to be such a terrible incident for it to be included in the sports bulletin. Here's hoping for a swift and full recovery, fingers crossed for the lad.
  19. Well that piece on the return of Ward during the build up to the Berwick match was cringeworthy, leave it out Sky.
  20. Now we're getting somewhere. Anyway it matters not, Kelvin Tatum will do 20 flying start laps from each gate (on his engine of course), the times will then be used to assess gate positions.
  21. Good point but you're forgetting about the introduction of a multigym and sauna cubicle in each pit, so the riders will be able to drop their body weight between heats, thus rendering the ballast ineffective. You're also overlooking the introduction of another starting grid on the back straight, so each heat will involve eight riders against the clock, things will be much fairer all round.
  22. I take your point but it's not so much wrong as it is difficult, comparisons will always be made in respect of different eras of any sport, Pele, Best or Messi, Higgins, Davis or O'Sullivan, Fangio, Moss, Schumacher or Senna etc etc. It will always generate conversation and will always be discussed on forums, it's human nature. Yes they rode in different eras, on very different machinery but it's still a 500cc clutch start 4 lap race. I'm not so sure there were many more World class riders back then, the standard of British riders was much better but the Poles weren't a force and nor were the Russians, Denmark had Ole Olsen and not much else, Sweden had just about enough to put together a decent test side as did Australasia, the Americans didn't provide any big hitters until Penhall got going in 79. Back on topic, Woffinden has all it takes to be a multiple World Champion, he's a fine rider and a cracking ambassador for the sport.
  23. I agree with Bruiser and yourself but I was also a youngster when Peter Collins, I was born in 60 and had been going to speedway regularly with my dad since about 68, we even used to attend the winter training schools at Hyde Road on Saturdays. I can remember seeing PC there and realising how much of a natural he was, we used go over to Rochdale on the odd Sunday (I think) when he rode for them. We were present at nearly all of his biggest meetings in the UK, the 2 Michanek run offs, British Finals, White City, Northern Riders (when it meant something) BLRC, etc etc. So I can't say it's easy to be totally unbiased. He was successful but I think we would all agree it was they way he got so many of his points that made him the darling of British speedway, Tai shows glimpses of that, like one of his rides at Cardiff, but he's such a good gater that he doesn't often have to make such daring moves. I do think Tai will eclipse Peter in terms of success, I hope he stays as injury free as possible, I've no doubt that PC would tasted more glory but for injury.
  24. Then why not take the advice offered by the nice lady and stay where your posts are appreciated?
