Coventry V Swindon - Wednesday 2nd September

I know what you mean, I had a dog like that once, castration was the only answer. -
At 17 bigballs had a bright future, his big balls were his ticket to fame & fortune, then along came Buster Gonad (with his infeasibly large testicles) to end the hopes and dreams of bigballs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buster_Gonad This may explain his attitude towards Lambert.

Bit harsh, more like typical Mancunian weather, I'm sure the club did what they could to get the meeting on.
-
Seemed harsh in Lindback in the final, based on the 2 angles shown I didn't think his back wheel was definitely over the line. Pedersen made a fool of himself with the gesticulating, he was beaten either way, he's showing his true colours again.

What a shame they couldn't work out that the sun would be a problem for tv viewers and placed their cameras more strategically, very poor viewing up to ht 8, hopefully the sun will drop soon and the track will have some much needed work if the meeting is to deliver any decent racing . Be interesting to learn the details of the Gollob situation.

It's been quite some time since I've heard speedway get a mention on 5Live, such a shame it had to be such a terrible incident for it to be included in the sports bulletin. Here's hoping for a swift and full recovery, fingers crossed for the lad.

Well that piece on the return of Ward during the build up to the Berwick match was cringeworthy, leave it out Sky.
-
Now we're getting somewhere. Anyway it matters not, Kelvin Tatum will do 20 flying start laps from each gate (on his engine of course), the times will then be used to assess gate positions.

Good point but you're forgetting about the introduction of a multigym and sauna cubicle in each pit, so the riders will be able to drop their body weight between heats, thus rendering the ballast ineffective. You're also overlooking the introduction of another starting grid on the back straight, so each heat will involve eight riders against the clock, things will be much fairer all round.

I take your point but it's not so much wrong as it is difficult, comparisons will always be made in respect of different eras of any sport, Pele, Best or Messi, Higgins, Davis or O'Sullivan, Fangio, Moss, Schumacher or Senna etc etc. It will always generate conversation and will always be discussed on forums, it's human nature. Yes they rode in different eras, on very different machinery but it's still a 500cc clutch start 4 lap race. I'm not so sure there were many more World class riders back then, the standard of British riders was much better but the Poles weren't a force and nor were the Russians, Denmark had Ole Olsen and not much else, Sweden had just about enough to put together a decent test side as did Australasia, the Americans didn't provide any big hitters until Penhall got going in 79. Back on topic, Woffinden has all it takes to be a multiple World Champion, he's a fine rider and a cracking ambassador for the sport.

I agree with Bruiser and yourself but I was also a youngster when Peter Collins, I was born in 60 and had been going to speedway regularly with my dad since about 68, we even used to attend the winter training schools at Hyde Road on Saturdays. I can remember seeing PC there and realising how much of a natural he was, we used go over to Rochdale on the odd Sunday (I think) when he rode for them. We were present at nearly all of his biggest meetings in the UK, the 2 Michanek run offs, British Finals, White City, Northern Riders (when it meant something) BLRC, etc etc. So I can't say it's easy to be totally unbiased. He was successful but I think we would all agree it was they way he got so many of his points that made him the darling of British speedway, Tai shows glimpses of that, like one of his rides at Cardiff, but he's such a good gater that he doesn't often have to make such daring moves. I do think Tai will eclipse Peter in terms of success, I hope he stays as injury free as possible, I've no doubt that PC would tasted more glory but for injury.

At the point of logging in I'd say.

Then why not take the advice offered by the nice lady and stay where your posts are appreciated?
-
And Nige reckons Ashley Morris has picked up 3 plus 4 after 2 rides,
-
The lad is a complete Cox, rotten to the core.

Correct, there may well be many examples but just look at Mike Tyson, a more despicable character I could not wish to meet, but despite his vile nature he is a true legend of boxing.. So NP has to be in the top 20 of all time, even if he is a dirty b------! 3 World Championships don't come easy.

That's better, cheers

That's all well and good but what's happening with Eurosport?

Well I'm not going to spend all night digging out clips but this one immediately springs to mind, twice on the first lap. Don't get me wrong, I like watching him in pantomime villain sort of way but speedway is dangerous enough and the reality is his total lack of consideration for his opponents safety is blatantly obvious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUfhUYtfDZU

There's almost always time to shut off. The problem with Pedersen is he seems to flick the back wheel at just the right moment to take an opponents front wheel away, now that's dangerous and bang out of order, imagine how it must feel to be on the receiving end of a that. It doesn't justify Hancock's reaction but, for me, it goes a long way to explaining it. As for the statement on his website, it was good to get an insight into how he's thinking.
-
Can you lot get a room and take your petty snipes there instead of poisoning another thread, it's embarrassing, cheers
-
You're right, he doesn't come across as someone who would get involved in a fight, his actions were totally out of character I'm sure, which tells me a lot about how sick he must have been of putting up with the way Pedersen does not seem to give a single thought to ANY opponents safety. This scenario was in the ether, it could have been any one of many riders, it just happened to be Greg Hancock he pushed over the edge. Considering the inevitability of such an occurrence I have to say it's a pity it didn't happen against someone better equipped to have given Pedersen something to remember. Pedersen is definitely box office but he is also a danger to other riders, it's as though he considers the rear wheel as a weapon.

Swc Final 2015
nw42 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I also watched it this evening, as live, having been out for the afternoon and successfully avoided any knowledge of the result. It was indeed a great speedway meeting, had everything you could wish for on a fair and decent track, take a bow Phil Morris. I was also thinking it was amongst the best meetings I've seen but I'm also wondering if the fact that it was condensed into a 2 hour slot that made it seem better, we were spared all the ridiculous delays between heats and when exclusions and falls occurred, it just flowed so nicely. Either way it's good to read all the positive comments in this thread, makes a nice change for us to have something to praise about our sport. At least the Falubaz fella has been quiet after last night's rant. -

I think it's more hope than expectation, the few of us that still have the enthusiasm for the sport are disappointed that we can't see it live unless we use a stream.
