  1. Wasn't there a similar problem with Todd Kurtz ar Newport?
  2. I don't know about Cradley in those days in 1981/83 I'd never heard of speedway. What I do know is doesn't matter what league you are in. Surely winning is part and parcel of 'competition'. Maybe that's why the overseas youngsters have a more 'winning' attitude than ours as some promoters have said in the past. here you don't need to win in the MDL and NL just turn up. Is it only in this country where competition and winning is frowned upon?
  3. The disparaty was caused by Worrall being on a false average due to a poor season in 2013 after breaking his leg. Had he ridden to his potential in 2013 he wouldn't have been eligable for NL. Similar situation to Adam Roynon. Maybe averages need to be looked at. Another example was 2013 Lambert (Simon) Who's PL ave put him in the no double up bracket but it went down in 2013 there making him eligable to DU in 2014 You will always get these anomilies if you are going to go on previous seasons form
  4. What's wrong with wanting to win? Well run clubs with good support. Speedway is dying in this country lets have more Poole's and Cradleys.
  5. I disagree. There wasn't much difference between the top 4. Mildenhall would have done bettet but for injuries. Cov were up there. People aeemed to forget when Bourmemouth ran away with the league. Then Scunny fielded a team of Nielsen Worrall's and Birks. There has always been a strong contender and the last 2 seasons that's been Cradley
  6. He wad good in himself but because of the head injury couldn't get clearance from doctors to ride. Which was a shame
  7. Fair play but Buxton indicated they were struggling for riders at the beginning of the season
  8. They probably would have been at Buxton.
  9. For those who live in the UK and have sons that race it's an invaluable service. Thanks to the updaters for putting up with my sometimes spurious texting and Thanks all for the service....
  10. I believe that the DU apart from Worrall being signed on a bargain average as he found his confidence, after breaking his leg, toward the backend of last season played it's part ot gave the riders track time. Although it has to be said Perry Greaves Clegg Williamson didn't do terribly well in the upper leagues it contributed enourmously to their NL performances. Lets hope they are all given PL places next season and the carry on improving.
  11. The only reason why Cradley ran away with the league was that Monmore was a massive confidence boost as away riders can't ride the track. Even EL riders don't like it and clocking up 60+ wins boosts confidence that and the fact that 6 of their riders were riding in 2 or 3 leagues averaging 2 -3 meetings a week. Compare that to Kings Lynn Kent Stoke who had 1 or 2 DU riders tops. Everyone knows to keep sharp you have to keep racing and having a place with 1 team in the NL isn't enough.
  12. I don't think it's 'young kids' think it's 'British' Kids. They will all flock to tracks to see the latest young overseas rider....
  13. I don't think age ever has mattered. We have or have had an EL full of 16 & 17 yr old poles aussies and Danes
  14. I know it's not indicative of all NL hts and probably not the best but here is an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQMNpcdlUMk#t=48 And a much better one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqxZAyeyXys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEbxdsDTn4Y
  15. That was truly an awsome season. Hope you are right. Mort gets stuck in and all the pits and track staff are very welcoming.
  16. It depends what you want from your Speedway really. If you want to see big or fancy foreign names then it wont be for you. It's a bit like marmite....but from the sounds of it you are looking forward to a local team so you've got the right approach.
  17. You are calling me stroppy.......fair play Just seemed an odd question. I imagine more than would have gone to Cov as a fair few Leicester fans will go who wouldn't have gone to Cov.
  18. I'm not being funny but you will only gain credibility for your argument if you give constructive criticism. Your comments are too generic no specifics and no suggestions on what he did wrong Or what he should have done different. I'm happy to listen to your argument but it has to be constructve.
  19. No doubt there is a shortage of riders. Already short of Ben and James changing more could be difficult. I've not looked ate the averages You could have replaced Widman or Payne with Chessell I suppose or Maybe Priest but I think Priest and Chessell had already been signed by other clubs when the downturn started. I'm not sure there were many heatleaders knocking about without a job. Stokes would have always gone to KL. I can't think of anyone else. You may want to explain where you think Malcolm went wrong in the 4's. Selectionwise he had no choice. Maybe one of the PL supporters (unless you can) may want to inject an opinion on whether team 'strenghening' in the PL was anymore successful.
  20. Who would you have signed to replace Ben! I'm not going to pretend that everything at Stoke is perfect but The meetings were run in double quick time apart from a couple where incidents occurred to memory James being taken to Hospital and the track conditions of the Kent meeting. The track was good although dusty at times but many tracks suffered from that in the hot weather we got mid summer. The original team was good I think the combination of losing Ben and James were extra factors. The PA on the 3rd and 4th bend is difficult to hear but that could be the announcer if he talks in a whisper. No parade at the beginning of the meeting. There was one when up against Kings Lynn I think and it added a whole new dimension to the meeting. Bar and stand are cosmetic and better to have a good ridable track than fancy buildings although if they would let a few volunteers down there in the winter to tidy it up it could only enhance the product. The loss of the website was sad. One final thing......... The management can't ride the bikes themselves. Yes the manager should be there for tactics etc. It's up to the riders to ride the bikes and if things start to go wrong for them sometimes it's difficult to pick yourself up from a downward spiral but they never stopped trying. You can lay the blame of many things at the feet of the management but performance on track is squarely the riders responsibility.
  21. I have sent the Mod a message to merge the 2
  22. I think it was Jul 5th Morley beat Widman Stoke v Kent (NLKOC)
