  1. It has been said on many occasions that the riders don't do enough to gain valuable sponsorship needed and that casual appeals on FB is not enough. Attending an awards evenings and networking with the fans is certainly a step in the right direction however far you have to travel.
  2. There will be a bond to pay if the Lions promotion fold, I imagine, which in the EL that will be quite high 10's of 1000's?. The promotion can't be let off this just because they have a big fan base and want to progress. lets not forget the fact that the promotion may even have these funds in place already for when the application is lodged
  3. I'm not sure that more ind. meetings is what the lads need they need to develop their team skills. Most riders in the NL are trying to shine to get themselves noticed for a spot in in the PL and who can blame them they seem to have be 10 times better than a junior foreign rider to get a chance. You get lots of incidents like team mates taking each other out. Team mates pushing each other out when in scoring positions. Slowing the race down to get a team member through is another skill that is lacking in the NL. I'll always remember seeing Armstrong at Dudley using all these skills to get him and a team mate through to a much needed 5 -1 he had a well planned race he knew exactley when to make his move by getting everybody in the right place on the track These are the kinds of skills they need to develop to make it in the higher leagues but your idea of combining disciplines is a briliant idea as that seems to be the way the stock cars are going by running bangers (I think) at the same time therefore attracting supporters from both disciplines although I'm not sure the Stock car fans are overly keen on banger racing. Does the track have to be prepared differently for flat track short track etc????
  4. What was the outcome of the meeting on Thursday? It will be sad for the NL to loose Dudley but they must do what they must do for the club
  5. That can only mean 1 thing he is putting it about and he is 2 timing you !!!!
  6. Scunny and Sheffiled would also just race each other as Leicester for all intents and purposes is going into the EL and I'm affraid it will be the NL boys nipping down to Plymouth as they have already said they are going NL
  7. It's funny how, although there are still some watching from a distance, people have stopped complaining about the track whilst the Lions have been winning at home.
  8. The right or wrongs aside as it's only rumour but don't you think it's sad, if it is the case, that a promoter feels he has to hold wages back to get the riders to a party designed to promote the club, thank the fans for their support and allow the fans to mingle with the lads they have supported over the season?. Last year Scott Richardson had already announced his retirement and stil turned up to the Colts party to thank all concerned for a fab season.
  9. It just seems every thread you go on on this forum people are shooting from the hip at promoters. I wouldn't blame them all to just jack it in.and say 'up yours' I certainly wouldn't have the where with all to do it and tend to respect anyone who does.
  10. I don't know what 'evey thing' is but if I did I would probably have an opnion on it.
  11. It was actually a genuine question. I don't spend hours reading up on stuff that don't affect me like Plymouth Spedway (200 miles away from me)I do have a life.!!!!!!
  12. Can I ask what the Plymouth promoter has actually done to alienate so many fans??? I'm not aware i'm affraid
  13. Not sure the ethical argument stands up here. In my line of work I am bound by P&P's with regards to discussing work on FB shouldn't professional' sportsmen/women be boundby the same?
  14. Oh ok sorry !!!! I missed the No.8 rule or agreement. I supose the lads that would go on it are probably already on a team's radar and therefore said team maybe reluctant to put them on it as they could maybe guest for someone else and be 'spotted'. eg Ellis, Coles.
  15. Because he has ridden for the Vikings until he broke his arm Maybe you should read my post again !!!!!!!!!!! There is no such thing as a Speedi bee
  16. Lewis Rose also guested for Buxton at RH as KLYS declared No8. I don't think you get an assessed ave in the NL now that the Commonwealth patriality thing has been thrown out as they used to get 6 didn't they ??? A bit unfair on No.8's really if they don't get any rides with 'their' team and they can't guest for others either. The 2 seasons ago Richie Worrall was guesting all over the place and it paid off.
  17. Fenwick has always been Scunthorpes no. 8 with Hart as Scunthorpes declared No.1 and therefore eligible to guest as he isn't in a declared 1- 7 as is Ellis No.8 for IOW he will be a good signing for the IOW next year on a 3 pt average. No8 = unattached. I'm genuinely pleased for the IOW if Ellis signs for them next year it's about time they had a bit of luck!!!!!!
  18. Well we can't have 7 number one's. He did a job for Lakeside. I'd rather see him than 'baby' in the team. If it's true i'll be sad to see him go
  19. Couldn't disgree more.......... sorry Some people said that about Richie when he joined Newcastle. Teams need to start taking the bull by the horns and take chances. The Saints did this year and it's paid off.
  20. I imagine Connor Dwyer will be well in the frame !!!!!!
  21. Because a rider can be absent for any reason due to school commitments/ Parent work commitments without fear of repremande from the powers that be for the team or the rider. It is believed this can lead to teams dropping an underperforming rider and replacing them for a better/more expensive same average rider for key matches. although I don't know if there is any kind of precedent that lead to this rule being introduced as I can't see any current teams doing this, Injuries has proved a problem in the past particularly for PO matches. If teams could regulate themselves to play by the rules but I supose the will to win is possibly too tempting particularly for the stand alone clubs. It would also give other NL riders opportunities to guest when the league is limited. The guest reserve rule has just been tightened up and rightly so, lads need to get on the merry go round somehow, to only a 3.00 point reserve who doesn't have a regular NL place, so I can't see that happening anytime soon
  22. I supose that would depend on how many teams are in the EL and how many in the NL leagues.I would say a NL team would be a compliment to the current set up rather than an aswell thus avoiding making people choose. The idea would be for people to go to both but on turn out from the challenge matches which have been staged at NL standard it could be a viable option.
  23. You can't blame Louis for trying. If that is the case then the integrity of the Ref should be brought into question. They should have the power of their own conviction to apply the rules and hold their nerve. Shouldn't hold a Ref's licence i'd say.
  24. It has to be said on reflection, but for the aid of a replay the Ref probably would have gone for Nielson from his vantage point. It just goes to show the fortunes can soon turn with the flick of a play button
