  1. Dean often 'alludes' to the young riders not knowing how the bike works and what the bike actually does aswell as wanting the latest gear on it, he calls it bling. He does have a point although generalising I think is unfair but. .Your assessment of the NL is more prevolent now but hasn't always been the case. Mike Lee said he wanted Josh Bates to learn and enjoy this is a theme that should run throughout. You are right of course but how many times have you heard X should do well cos he likes the bigger tracks or not expecting much from X cos he likes small tight tracks. I speak from a laymans point of view of course, I'm no expert.
  2. I don't think Dean was alluding to the dirt on the track he was refering to the lazy young riders who don't get into the workshop enough to deal with nuts and bolts, they would rather pay expensive tuners. My experience is different . The fact of the matter is riders aren't allowed to learn the craft of riding and trackcraft they are under too much pressure to perform soem riders will prefer small tracks others will prefer big tracks it's all down to riding style. If you get a team full of riders who prefer bigger tracks then they are going to get hammered ala KL at Dudley and Stoke at Buxton. I don't think it is anymore technical than that. But you are right about the mentality Dean some riders are beaten before the tapes go up.....Maybe teams could work on the psychological aspects of the rider rather than just the physiscal
  3. Here's hoping Tom does well and does himself the justice he deserves !!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Thats good to see. I think it adds meaning to the meetings if it is the Juniors of the Seniors if you know what I mean.
  5. No just NL meetings. I think, and I am only guessing, because not all teams participate in all meetings of NL trophy nad KOC and anyway I'm sure some would use it to their dvantage.
  6. Think you may see a different Young Stars. It's no secret they don't like Monmore Wood (i'm mean that in the nicest sense of the word). But fair play for giving it a go
  7. I suppose time will tell. I just hope that all these ideas Glynn has can wait a while as I think at the moment changes to the set up is the last thing we need but I could be wrong
  8. And as usual BBC WM were top draw. I prefered to listen to the covearge rather than watch the sky meeting.
  9. You are right. I meant to say not much has been been mentioned of his people skills
  10. In my experience as Team Leader and Teacher. There is a difference between leading a team and ruling a team. I do hope Glyn's approach is the former. as there has been much mention of his peope management skills.
  11. I don't deny he has all these skills and will be an assett to the Lions but how come other clubs weren't clambering for the skills you mention and not in great demand to the highest bidder. Ummmmm it is a poser
  12. Heathens just seem to like their pantomime villains, they seem to adopt one each year. Obviously this year it's Kerr and in true Garrity style i'd just play them at their own game.
  13. From the Lions website; The new Lions boss will have Eric Boocock supporting him in an advisory role. The former British Champion is one of speedway’s most successful England team managers of his generation. “It is a real pleasure to have someone of Eric’s stature available to offer advice when needed. He is an inspiration and a very well respected person in speedway and we are all looking forward to working with him” commented the Lions co-promoter. It does say 'advisory' capacity maybe we all took it as read he would be joining full time. Could do with clarifying though.
  14. And many of us are gutted for him. I don't think it will be the same somehow but I can't speak of what I don't know. Just wish it hadn't happened really.
  15. I find it interesting that not many people are refering to Glynn as the Manager but Eric Boocock. I don't know a lot about him apart from the fact he left Sheffield and so did Auty. I wish them both well. Had this have been an isolated incident then I'm sure there wouldn't have been the backlash there has but it does come after a catalogue of comings and goings and naturally people are going to ask when do we get some stability so they can enjoy the team and not the off track antics. The supporters should have been going into the Edinburgh fixture full of confidence and positivity but this does seem to have put pay to that. There is a suggestion that to get Eric Boocock you had to have Glynn Taylor as they are good mates and Glynn didn't have a job and possibly Glynn and Jason didn't get on so one had to go. Sad really.
  16. It has come as a bit of a shock to me but I believe if you are not happy you get out because you stop enjoying it. Once again we don't know what was said and we will never know so no point in specualting. I do on the other hand believe that Jason does not deserve the utter bial that is being spouted on hear by some forum members. Another thing I have noticed is that Jason has acted with nothing but dignity in this whole affair. I seem to remember the current manager going very public (on this very forum)last time he fell out with Leicester. I hope the relationship will be a little more dignified and professional between all parties in the future.

  18. Maybe you should read the rule book. The new BSPA rukes make it impossible for anyone with more than 5.00 in the NL rider or a rider with more than 50 NL meetings under their belt to ride anybody who has competed in the PL has no chance i'm affraid. Would you like to try again.?!!!!!
  19. Just going to prove how pathetic and futile the thread is.I think. We are sick of hearing about the track and everything that needs to be said has been said so just hijacking it withn a bit of fun cos that is all it's fit for
  20. I thought you had been banned from this forum for intolerance towards other posters!!! By the way, have you found a motorway for Speedibee to play on since he has been absent for nearly 24 hours?? My thoughts on the track are, for what they are worth, is the racing is getting better by the week. The track won't be be altered now until the end of the season but does appear to follow the guidelines laid down by the SCB. After days of rain, I thought the mill wasted spectator areas have proved that all the work put in over the winter has paid off - no more muddy shoes or boots and it is true that the number of spectators is down but who would turn out in such poor weather other than the die hard supporters. It isn't very enticing freezing cold wondering when the next rain shower is coming. There I go - the "rose tinted spectacles" have been passed on to me to wear this week.
  21. Who are these blokes 'giving it a go' in second halves?................ What is wrong with you people how do you exepct the youth to get better if they don't challenge chaps like Wayne Carter Andy Mountain (who know all the tricks). Riders benefit hugely from the likes of Tony Atkin and John Armstrong in the NL. Are you going to tell Greg Hancock that he is now Mr middle aged and should move aside for the new generaton and Billy Hamill has had to come out of retirement to give the yanks a team in the world cup due to lack of riders. It's all the same just at different levels. Richie Worrall after 3 or 4 NL meetings went straight into the PL and 18 months after he had his first ever meeting in the NL as no. 8 IOW, I believe. He is now doubling up with PL/EL put people on the track with same standard and it gives them a false impression of what league riding is. This should have been done years ago well done to all the Junior Leagues some of us know how much goes into running these leagues when all you feel like doing is turning round and walking away. Nobody flinched when team viking(inc Jona B Andersen sadley rained off) were at Scunthorpe and amatuers rode against them in an amatuer meeting and 2 of those ended up with PL places in the UK staright after. Push the boys give them something to work with and they will deliver the goods. END OF RANT PS forgot Gearge Barclay who started his speedway career at 29
  22. Sorry have to diasgree with you there. There is always a wait if the rider has to go to hospital waiting for a county ambulance to arrive.
  23. Belle Vue don't own their stadium and aren't able to make changes apart from the GH taking priority every penny they have is going into the new stadium which is costing a fortune. Leicester, I believe are spent up aswell. I would say that work which was done as a good will gesture last year is being called in now that Ken Naylor is no longer involved, reading between the lines from LionsDen. Not at all I would say. Like Cardiff I only go for the atmosphere you can keep the rest I don't wnat to drag this thread out anymore so this will be my last word on the subject. Not defending anyone just defending my point of view
