  1. I guess would be Mikey Neale. You have as good a top 2 as anyone on their day imo. Shuttleworth has improved quite considerably since I saw him doing amateur racing a couple of years ago and had a great season last year, I think he'll sustain since improvement if not as notable as last year. Woolley might have stagnated a bit but maybe a change of track will help him, but he started last year better than he ever had. Whilst for the reserves I haven't seen Bewley so won't comment and Holt has been around a while now and improved minimally it makes sense to have someone who knows the club and has a bit of experience with a 16 year old. Overall a pretty good team that I can see top half, it remains to be seen what the home track advantage is like but the side has established NL riders who are also improving so they'll definitely pick up some points on the road.
  2. Any idea yet on a date for opening night? I guess it's too early to speculate on opponent or if it's an individual meeting etc.
  3. No its not enforced this year. It's simply a club's decision if they want to or not.
  4. That's my thinking on the team too! But I can't see you dropping as far as seventh. The two riders to make or break the team are obvious but even if they end up on the floor after they've led for 3 laps there's plenty of points and track advantage to win your home meetings and away I can see you getting to 42 and a bonus point. Imo its a play-off team and by that time Chessell and Kingston may have learnt to stay on in a point scoring position. My concern is those two as an erratic pairing who could as easily concede a 5-0 as hit a 5-1 over a genuine number 1!
  5. Yes it would. At least half of the promoters clearly don't have the view that Eastbourne are unbeatable over 2 legs, or are they thinking that more fans would turn up to watch them lose on aggregate to Eastbourne in the POs than the Gold Cup??
  6. What time is tapes up UK time on Sunday morning? I see the broadcast starts at 8am.
  7. He rode for Buxton a few years back. I think the poster was just naming names rather than anything concrete.
  8. Pipe knew the 7 he wanted before Rutherford's average was lowered by a point so it remains to be seen if they use the extra point.
  9. Because it increased this winter...
  10. I saw that and thought it was very expensive, £10 is what the NL should be imo. All increasing NL tickets do is drive up the other leagues as it closes the gap in price but with the standard of rider being the same.
  11. Rye's press release suggests a like for like swap once a visa is in place. So a new Aussie for you guys?
  12. Birmingham have a good pair in Smith and JPB, Mildenhall have a good pairing too but the one I think will end with the highest average is KL's Cupitt or Smith.
  13. I think the point is that Holub's average is going to drop by 2-3 points so those points could then be used towards a permanent replacement for Poole.
  14. I know they haven't peaked, especially Coles. What I wanted to point out, admittedly I didn't say it, was the weird way that averages make riders attractive or unattractive. On paper those 2 were in the weakest performing trio relative to their ability, yet their low averages (especially Coles) make them wanted men and they both return.
  15. And Mildenhall re-sign them both...
  16. Rode PL for Rye last season and would come into the NL on 8.52. No
  17. But you're only talking about if you want to take the car ferry and drive on the island! It can be much cheaper!! They're still negotiating a version of the old Wightlink flyer ticket where you can get foot passenger ferry, taxi/bus to and from the stadium and entrance fee for just over £20 (I can't remember how much it used to be), so if speedway is what you want then it's affordable considering what you get.
  18. I wonder if he was in negotiations with a Friday PL team at the time.
  19. Does he have a British passport? If yes then he's eligible, they've actually simplified the rules for once!
  20. Haven't you contradicted yourself there? They potentially have the best top 2 in the league and both could be 10-10.5 point men on 9.72 and 9.06 point averages. Not many other teams have a top 2 with as much improvement in them because naturally it's easier to get better when starting from a lower point but I can only see them both really dominating now they're back at Monmore.
  21. This time last year not many people expected Wood to go so well and juding by the rare appearances that Powell made in the NL last year, I see no reason to suggest that he won't be one of the stronger reserve in the league even if he doesn't do a Zach/Perks/Wood/Spiller, he certainly could do a Neale/Dwyer/Kinsley/Bowtell imo.
  22. I agree that it looks like lessons haven't been learnt regarding a strong top 4 but weak bottom 3. However the bottom 3 aren't as weak as last year and I think overall Kent should have a better season as a team, but astute management would've made sure that Clifton started at reserve and a stronger rider than Verge dropped down once he moved up.
  23. It wasn't only about the money. There's more to it. Plus on the injury front he was still suffering head aches from his head injury nearly 2 years later Alex.
  24. Yes he's a 3.00 but no way he'll be back unfortunately.
