  1. Someone started this thread in 2014 and it was fairly popular, even though no-one did it last year. So the rules are: build a team to a 40.00 limit, with a max of 2 riders from any 1 team, and the winner is the person who's team has the highest total average at the end of the season! Go Edit: I'll include my attempt once I've decided a team!
  2. Is SEC really that popular with Eastbourne fans that they lose so much money running against it, that they're prepared to not run in the middle of summer when clubs usually get their largest crowds?
  3. Speedway ignores laws/rules like that. Think about the original NL to PL double-up rule that was restricted to under 25s which surely breaks the law by preventing riders over that age by earning a wage in both. Simon Lambert at the start of last season is a good example of this.
  4. Who could they realistically sign? The return of Lyager maybe.
  5. This team will really take some stopping! The league in general looks fairly even (the obvious 3 are definitely the strongest 3 imo) but this side looks truly brilliant!! There's bags of improvement in this team and and some real talents which should make it good to watch too.
  6. His current PL average is 3.00 which I makes him eligible for the number 7 role, so I guess he'd come in on a 6.00 but it's a unique case.
  7. My prediction: 1. Birmingham 2. Cradley 3. Eastbourne 4. King's Lynn --- 5. Mildenhall 6. Coventry 7. Kent 8. Isle of Wight 9. Belle Vue 10. Buxton 11. Stoke 12. Rye House
  8. Am I the only one confused his Hume's role at Ipswich now? Witches have paid a loan fee, so he's not an asset, but they already have their NL number 7 in Ritchings so will he just turn up to practice etc? But he could do that without a loan fee, like he did last season!
  9. The team was signed ages ago when Rutherford's average was over a point higher.
  10. Why do you think IOW will finish top 2?
  11. Fixtures should be out next month. Now that the EL & PL fixtures are confirmed they can go ahead and plan dates that don't clash. I know that as of earlier this week there hadn't been the first draft sent to clubs yet. Though the first date you mention is half-term isn't it, so I'd be pretty confident that there's a fixture on that date!
  12. So you understand it that the job share role is between Lawson & Kennett? Therefore making Swiderski a full-time member.
  13. From a consumer's point of view I think that's a brilliant pricing structure and is clearly aimed at being affordable to everyone so I hope people take advantage of the club's generosity and it doesn't turn into being too cheap! I wonder if the Warriors will be the only club offering reductions to service personnel and the disabled, plus as a student it's beneficial to see not just any price reduction, but a significant price reduction for students, as far too many places nowadays expect us to pay the exact same full adult price as someone in full-time employment!
  14. And Newcastle on 2 bank holidays too! I was looking forward to the usual Somerset early bank holiday league meeting. Imo the League Cup group looks very tough too and I wouldn't be surprised to see all 3 opponents in the play-offs so maybe Holub will have an artificially low average to work with too.
  15. As far as riders are concerned there seems to be a lot of mismanagement going on since Scott's arrived.
  16. I can remember when the field behind the back straight was always full of cars!
  17. I guess would be Mikey Neale. You have as good a top 2 as anyone on their day imo. Shuttleworth has improved quite considerably since I saw him doing amateur racing a couple of years ago and had a great season last year, I think he'll sustain since improvement if not as notable as last year. Woolley might have stagnated a bit but maybe a change of track will help him, but he started last year better than he ever had. Whilst for the reserves I haven't seen Bewley so won't comment and Holt has been around a while now and improved minimally it makes sense to have someone who knows the club and has a bit of experience with a 16 year old. Overall a pretty good team that I can see top half, it remains to be seen what the home track advantage is like but the side has established NL riders who are also improving so they'll definitely pick up some points on the road.
  18. Any idea yet on a date for opening night? I guess it's too early to speculate on opponent or if it's an individual meeting etc.
  19. No its not enforced this year. It's simply a club's decision if they want to or not.
  20. That's my thinking on the team too! But I can't see you dropping as far as seventh. The two riders to make or break the team are obvious but even if they end up on the floor after they've led for 3 laps there's plenty of points and track advantage to win your home meetings and away I can see you getting to 42 and a bonus point. Imo its a play-off team and by that time Chessell and Kingston may have learnt to stay on in a point scoring position. My concern is those two as an erratic pairing who could as easily concede a 5-0 as hit a 5-1 over a genuine number 1!
  21. Yes it would. At least half of the promoters clearly don't have the view that Eastbourne are unbeatable over 2 legs, or are they thinking that more fans would turn up to watch them lose on aggregate to Eastbourne in the POs than the Gold Cup??
